"Arthur" Season Seven Trivia Quiz

Season Seven has "Elwood City Turns 100" and "April 9th, ,the first two two-part episodes of Arthur and two of the most iconic episodes. There are no questions about "Cast Away" or "D.W.'s Time Trouble" because I really do not like those episodes.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "The Great Sock Mystery", who steals D.W.'s sock?

Answer: Amigo

"The Great Sock Mystery" is the second episode with a talking baby and talking animals. It's the first one in which Amigo plays a major role. He is the neighbors' dog and he was introduced in "Arthur and Los Vecinos", but he only spoke a few lines at the end of that episode. In "The Great Sock Mystery", he is one of the main characters.

One of D.W.'s socks goes missing and she gets really upset. Kate and Pal decide to find it. The next night, Pal waits outside the house with Kate watching from the window and they are shocked at what they discover. Amigo is stealing another sock! Amigo admits to being the one who stole D.W.'s sock, but he says it's for a good cause. He then takes Pal to where he took the sock as he explains what's going on.

He shows Pal what he calls "the sock market." The way it works is that dogs steal socks and humans buy more socks. This helps the economy. Pal tells Amigo that the sock that he stole is important to D.W. Amigo says that he no longer has it. Pal has to steal another sock and trade for it. Kate gives Pal all of her socks to trade, but he ends up losing all of her socks and failing to get D.W.'s sock. This make Pal very sad.

The next evening, Amigo comes over to tell Kate and Pal that he has found the animal that has D.W.'s sock and he might be willing to trade it for something else. Kate and Pal gather up everything they can trade. It turns out to be Mr. Toad. He is not interested in anything that they have to offer, but he is willing to take Pal in exchange for the sock. Kate rejects that deal. Toadie, D.W.'s former pet toad, appears. It turns out that Toadie and Mr. Toad are best friends who hadn't seen each other since they were tadpoles. Mr. Toad accepts Toadie in exchange for the sock. The two toads wander off and D.W.'s sock is returned to Pal and Kate. Pal and Kate are happy that they accomplished what they set out to accomplish, although I am disappointed that we never see D.W.'s reaction to having her sock back.
2. In "Francine's Split Decision", Francine misses part of her cousin's Bar Mitzvah to do what?

Answer: Bowling

Francine wants to go bowling on Saturday, but her mother tells her that she has to go to her cousin's Bar Mitzvah. Brain comes up with a plan for her to spend part of her time at the party and part of her time bowling. The plan is not executed as Brain envisioned (Francine is late and Arthur forgets to bring her bowling shoes). Francine enjoys her time at the party but she does not enjoy her time at the bowling alley. Every time she returns to the party, she has to make excuses for why she was gone, which her parents find suspicious.

When Francine goes to the bowling alley for the last time, she sees that Muffy has already delivered the game winning shot and it's over. When she returns to the party after this, her father notices that she is wearing bowling shoes and her cover is blown.

She is grounded and she has to do chores. At the end of the episode, she regrets skipping part of the party not because she was punished for it, but because the party was a lot more fun than the bowling game.
3. "Ants in Arthur's Pants" has a song.

Answer: True

Mr. Ratburn tells the kids that they can do a science project of their choice for extra credit. Arthur decides to make an ant farm. When he sees a store with ant farms, that's when he fantasizes about singing ants and that's when we hear a song that is simply titled "Ants". The song is just 20 seconds long but it's pretty fun to listen to and it's pretty amusing. They are singing about how easy the extra credit project will be (in Arthur's imagination). When Arthur awakes from his fantasy, he decides to get the ant farm.

Arthur gets the ant farm but discovers he has to order the ants separately. He does so, but he does not read the instructions on how to get them in the ant farm and he messes it up. Ants crawl around the house and Arthur's parents find some of them. They plan to call an exterminator, but Arthur asks them for a chance to round up all the ants. They give him a week. Most of his plans fail. One day, Francine comes over with her experiment, which is a jar with water and a sugar crystal (she's trying to make rock candy). Arthur accidentally breaks the jar. The ants come crawling toward the sugar water. Arthur and Francine combine their projects. At the end of the episode, we see Buster and Brain have also combined their projects and we hear Mr. Ratburn giving them extra credit, but we never find out if Arthur and Francine got extra credit.
4. In "Don't Ask Muffy", who is better at giving advice than Muffy?

Answer: Molly

Muffy starts an advice column in The Frensky Star. The first person to ask for advice is Binky. He does not like Muffy's advice. He then tells Muffy that he found someone who is better at giving advice than she is. Muffy searches for that person and she finds out that it's Molly.

After she gave Binky good advice, other people came to Molly for help instead of Muffy. At first, Muffy gets a makeover to make herself look like Molly and she tries to learn to skateboard like Molly. When that fails, Muffy asks Molly why she is so good at giving advice. Molly tells Muffy that she is not a good listener. Muffy takes that advice but then she gives Molly some fashion advice.

In the end, Molly takes Muffy's fashion advice and they are both wiser.
5. In "To Tibble the Truth", where does D.W. say that the Tibble twins will be when they grow up?

Answer: Jail

The Tibble twins trick Buster into giving them his ice cream, then they trick Vicita into giving them a toy that belongs to Alberto, and then they break it. Grandma Tibble tells them that they have to pay Alberto back. They have no money. Alberto tells them if they never lie again, they do not have to pay him back right away. They agree to this.

They then play rockball (baseball with rocks) with D.W. They throw a rock, she hits it with the bat, and it hits Alberto on the head. They tell him it was D.W.'s fault. He asks whose idea it was to play baseball with rocks. They say that they weren't playing baseball, and they think they are telling the truth because it was rockball. He explains that telling the truth doesn't mean coming up with these kinds of loopholes. D.W. tells them that they might go to jail someday.

At night, Timmy asks Tommy what jail is. Tommy says it's where adults go when they've been bad. He explains that in jail, people are locked in a room with bars and they cannot leave, and they cannot see their grandmother unless she visits. They don't want to go there, so they turn over a new leaf and decide to be honest.

The next day, they pass by a store with free cookie samples and they eat all of them. When the store owner asks if they ate all the free samples, they admit that they did. She's astonished by how much the boys love the cookies and she gives them more boxes of cookies. This encourages them to be honest more often. They then go to the Read house and tell D.W. that she is too bossy and sings "Crazy Bus" too much. They then tell Vicita that her name is weird and she'll never own a pony. They then tell Brain that his head is too big. They then tell Buster that he'll believe anything. They then tell Arthur that his nose is too small. After all this, they get phone calls from all their former friends saying they don't want to play with them anymore.

Timmy then tells Tommy that sometimes he wishes he never had a twin, which make Tommy sad. Later on, they are on their porch. Alberto walks by and talks to them. They tell him that they lost all their friends by being honest. He explains that being honest does not mean you have to say everything that's on your mind and that they should be honest and nice at the same time. Timmy then tells Tommy that he usually likes having a twin brother and that he's his best friend. They make amends. They then tell Buster that he is nice and they want to be like him when they grow up. This makes him give them his gummy worms. In the end, the twins are happy.
6. In "Elwood City Turns 100", who sings a sad song about the green-tailed grebe while dressed up like one?

Answer: Fern

"Elwood City Turns 100" is the 100th episode of "Arthur". That's why it's made as a special episode. It's the first two-part episode. It's about the 100th anniversary of Elwood City. Mr. Ratburn's class has been chosen to make a musical about Elwood City to celebrate. The first half of the episode is the making of the musical. We see a lot of arguing between the kids. The second half of the episode is the musical.

One song that stands out to me is Fern's song. When Elwood City was founded, a lot of trees were cut down and the swampland was destroyed. A lot of animals lived there and could not survive without the trees and all the other plants. According to the song, the green-tailed grebe is an example of an animal that went extinct because of this. In "For the Birds", we find out that the green-tailed grebe is actually still alive, but only Brain and Buster know that (and "Elwood City Turns 100" takes place before that, so even they didn't know that yet).
7. In "Jenna's Bedtime Blues", what is Jenna's secret?

Answer: She wets the bed

Jenna does not want to go to Muffy's slumber party. She reluctantly agrees to go to it to quell the endless rumors she is hearing about her, but she is afraid her big secret will be revealed. At the party, the girls all reveal their secrets with Muffy promising a special prize to the girl who reveals the biggest secret. Jenna is afraid to tell the truth, so she says that her secret is that she has a crush on George.

She wins the prize, which is to sleep on Muffy's bed with her. The bed is a waterbed, which increases Jenna's fear of what might happen. Jenna has trouble, but she makes it through the night without bedwetting.

She then points to a pull-up on the floor and asks if there is a baby there. Nobody has a problem with the pull-up. When everyone else goes downstairs for breakfast, Francine tells Jenna that she might have hurt someone's feelings. Jenna explains that the pull-up is hers and that she's not in love with George and her real secret is that she sometimes wets the bed. Francine explains that's nothing to be embarrassed about and that she also used to wear them.
8. In "Buster's Amish Mismatch", what do the kids do at the end of the episode?

Answer: Build a new doghouse for Pal

At the beginning of the episode, they go to an Amish farm to learn what life is like for the Amish. They learn that Amish people do not use electricity or cars or any modern things. They use gas stoves to cook food and heat the house, they churn their own butter, and they build their own barns. They all seem to be perfectly happy, so Buster decides to become Amish.

Buster refuses to ride in his mother's car. He and his mother have a candlelight dinner with pizza from a gas stove. Every time she turns on the lights or answers the phone, Buster tells her not to do so. She tells him that he has to be Amish by himself. He sleeps at night in a cold, dark bedroom. At lunch, he only eats an apple and he won't eat anything cooked in the electric oven. He tries to sew his own clothes without buttons. He walks home in the rain. After a while, Buster's mother turns the electric heat on, so he's not living the Amish way but he's warm.

The next day at lunch, Ms. McGrady is the only one who sits with him. She tells him that she's spent a lot of time with the Amish and that he is not doing a good job living the Amish way. She explains that they might not drive cars, but they ride in them, and they are not cold, hungry and miserable. Buster says that the Amish seemed happy. When Ms. McGrady asks why, he explains that they were working together. She tells him that he's doing it all alone and that's why it's not working for him.

At the end of the episode, Buster stops being Amish. However, he proposes a few Amish-style activities. They build a new doghouse for Pal in the same way that the Amish built barns. Buster's mother brings pizza which she made with her own dough. Buster says it's the best pizza he ever tasted and he ends up saving a bit of the pizza in his room as a memory of the first pizza ever made by Baxter hands.

"Make the world's largest pizza" is incorrect because, although Bitzi made a pizza, it wasn't the largest one in the world. The episode with the world's largest pizza is "The World Record".
9. In "Prunella Sees the Light", who does Prunella get in a fight with?

Answer: Marina

The night before the new "Henry Skreever" movie, Marina and Prunella arrange to have a sleepover at Marina's house. Prunella tries to be extra considerate for her blind friend, but she overdoes it and makes Marina angry. Prunella ends up going home and sleeping unhappy.

The next day, Buster explains to Prunella that Marina does not want her to be extra considerate. He likens it to when people found out he had asthma and were extra considerate of him and he hated it. Prunella calls Marina and apologizes and makes amends and they see the movie together, with Marina listening to it through her headset.
10. What disaster happens on "April 9th"?

Answer: Fire

There is a fire at Lakewood Elementary. Arthur's father is doing a catering job there and he is stuck inside. Arthur is terrified for his father, but the firefighters rescue the father and he is fine. Arthur continues to have nightmares about his father being in trouble again, but his father tells him that it's the father's job to worry about the son and not the other way around. Binky sees the flames and he is traumatized, although he spends almost the entire episode denying it.

Sue Ellen's journal is burned. Muffy buys her a new one, but Sue Ellen's old journal had personal photos that can't be replaced. One part of a photo of a llama is saved. and it becomes the cover of her new journal. Buster is late to school and by the time he arrives, school is already closed and everyone was already out. He isn't as traumatized as everyone else, but Buster bonded with Mr. Morris. Mr. Morris breaks a leg. He's elderly and he does not think his leg will ever heal, so he retires and moves to New Mexico to live his remaining days with his daughter.
