Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following would you NOT - usually - put on your head?

Answer: Moccasin

A moccasin is a type of shoe, specifically one made of deerskin, or other soft leather, with a harder sole. So while you COULD - theoretically - put it on your head, you'd probably get some rather strange looks.

The three incorrect options are all types of hats.
2. Which of the following would NOT be a useful method for travelling between France and the UK?

Answer: Pogo stick

Since the Strait of Dover/Pas de Calais - the narrowest part of the English Channel - is around 32 km at its narrowest point, it would require some rather impressive pogo stick abilities to clear that distance.
DO NOT ATTEMPT!

The Channel Tunnel - sometimes referred to as the 'Chunnel' - is a railway tunnel between Folkestone in the UK and Coquelles in Northern France. There are several options of both ferry and airplane between the UK and France.
3. Which of the following animals should you NOT milk in order to make cheese?

Answer: Hippopotamus

I don't think I should have to TELL you why you shouldn't attempt to milk a hippopotamus. They're dangerous! Very aggressive and territorial, they have a habit of charging at boats and capsizing them, causing an estimated 500 deaths annually.
Also, the fact that they spend most of the time submerged in water makes the whole process rather complicated.

Cow, goat, and sheep cheese are all common forms of cheese, and come in many different variations.
4. Which of the following would NOT be a great place for a nice refreshing swim?

Answer: Puddle

Puddles are small accumulations of liquid - usually water - on a surface. Sure, some of them can get relatively large, but they're still generally too small, and shallow, to swim in. Not to mention that the murky water would make the whole experience rather unpleasant.
(Toddlers may disagree with the last statement.)

Seas, rivers, and lakes are all natural bodies of water, which can be used for swimming. However, always make sure to check the conditions, and never go swimming alone without an adult.
5. Which of the following would NOT be good for serving something to drink?

Answer: Sieve

A sieve is a tool for separating elements; this can either be a matter of separating unwanted elements from wanted, or separating elements based on size.
However, the fact that it's full of holes makes it rather unsuitable for containing any liquid.

Pitchers, jugs, and carafes are all containers for liquid.
6. Which of the following would NOT be a great way to take notes during class?

Answer: Obelisk

While obelisks - and similar types of large stone monuments - were for centuries a popular method for rulers to boast about their accomplishments, they were (understandably) never used for writing anything down quickly, certainly not things that needed to be easy to transport.

Laptops, notebooks, and electric tablets are all easily transportable objects which can be used for writing.
7. Which of the following would NOT be a great fish for a living room aquarium?

Answer: Barracuda

Even the smallest species of barracuda, the yellow-tailed barracuda, can grow to a length of 50 cm, which is on the larger size for your standard living room aquarium.

Bettas, goldfish, and guppies are all common fish for a living room aquarium. However, always make sure to study what specifics each type of fish need.
8. Which of the following would you NOT - usually - put on your feet?

Answer: Fez

Loafers, moccasins, and sandals are all types of footwear.
A fez, on the other hand, is a short, cylindrical, peakless hat, typically red and with a black tassel on the top. The name might come from the Moroccan city of the same name, where the dye for the hat was made from crimson berries. It owes much of its popularity to the Ottoman Empire.
9. Which of the following is NOT a convenient way to get up to the second floor of a building?

Answer: Fireman's pole

A fireman's pole is sometimes found in a firehouse, allowing firefighters to get DOWN to the ground level easily. However, getting UP one requires significantly more effort.

Stairs, escalators, and elevators/lifts are all methods for moving between the floors of a multi-floor building, both up and down.
10. Which of the following can NOT be used to play a Fun Trivia quiz?

Answer: Typewriter

Fun Trivia, being a website, requires internet access, something most typewriters aren't equipped with.

Desktops, laptops, and tablets are all devices which can be connected to the internet.

Please note that if you ARE currently playing on your typewriter, and thus got this question wrong, then you have my sincerest apologies.
