Lagos was the capital of Nigeria. It became Abuja in 1991.
Dar es Salaam was the capital of Tanzania. It became Dodoma in 1996.
Livingstone was the capital of Zambia. It became Lusaka in 1935.
Almaty was the capital of Kazakhstan. It became Astana in 1998.
Kandy was the capital of Sri Lanka. It became Colombo in 1815.
Yangon was the capital of Myanmar. It became Naypyidaw in 2005.
Krakow was the capital of Poland. It became Warsaw in 1795.
Melbourne was the capital of Australia. It became Canberra in 1927.
Auckland was the capital of New Zealand. It became Wellington in 1865.
Rio de Janeiro was the capital of Brazil. It became Brasilia in 1960.
Philadelphia was the capital of the U.S. It became Washington D.C. in 1800.
Koror was the capital of Palau. It became Ngerulmud in 2006.
