Answer: The captain on a Boeing 747 in 1982

In 1982 a British Airways Boeing 747 inadvertently flew through the ash cloud from a volcanic eruption of Mount Galunggung near Jakarta, which caused all four jet engines to fail. After some time, Captain Eric Moody made the quoted announcement to the passengers.

The crew eventually managed to restart 3 of the four engines and land safely. All aboard became lifelong members of the 'Galunggung Gliding Club'.

The battle, which took place at the Little Bighorn on June 25th and 26th, 1876, is considered the best known engagement in the Great Sioux Wars (1876-1877). The Lakota tribe, part of the Sioux Nation, had formed an alliance with the Arapaho and Cheyenne.

The war started over the government's attempt to reclaim the Black Hills, an area already granted to the Sioux, as part of The Great Sioux Reservation, in the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868.

Arkansas was admitted in 1836, the 25th state, Arizona in 1912, the 48th state, and Alaska in 1959, the 49th state.

The Great Hurricane of 1780 struck the eastern Caribbean and caused over 20,000 deaths in that region alone. It also had an impact on the American Revolution as it sank British ships off the coast of the United States. The hurricane, which also sometimes called Hurricane San Calixto, even reached as far north as Canada.

The 29th was composed of men from Maryland (blue) and Virginia and North Carolina (gray). The combined strength of both divisons was about 34,000 men. They suffered about 2,400 casualties, including 19 men from Bedford, VA, a town of 3,400 peole which was the biggest loss of men from one city in the USA.
