Notes:
Are you a Potterhead? Let's focus on the gold minifigs. Fill in the blanks to complete the story about the special 20th Anniversary "Harry Potter" LEGOs.
Like the first "Harry Potter" LEGO sets, the 20th Anniversary "Harry Potter" LEGOs were designed to recreate scenes from the early movies. In 2021 three special LEGO sets that were based on the first movie, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001), were issued with gold minifigures. "Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson" contained a gold minifig of the odd, turban-wearing , who played the villain in the movie. "Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter" included a gold minifig of , whose quick thinking saved the trio of friends from the Devil's Snare trap. Lastly, "Hogwarts Wizard's Chess", held a gold minifig of Hogwarts' Potions Master, .

The second movie, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002), influenced the creation of two more special 20 YEAR sets. "Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake" contained a gold minifigure of , who drank the potion in order to sneak into the Slytherin common room as Gregory Goyle. The "Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets" set included a gold minifig of the evil , along with a minifig of Tom Riddle.

LEGO creators couldn't forget about the importance of Harry's best friend, , in the movies. His golden minifig was found in "Hogsmeade Village Visit". The set also contained a message board with a wanted poster of Sirius Black from "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004). "LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition" actually featured a model of Harry's beloved pet, , and contained three golden minifigures with a special display stand. In the middle of the stand was Hogwarts Headmaster, . On one side was Keeper of the Keys and Grounds with a gold umbrella, and on the other side was Hogwarts' future Headmistress, .

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

The "Harry Potter" 20th Anniversary minifigs are a pearl gold color. They have a 20 YEARS logo on their backs and come with a small, thin LEGO block display stand that is the same gold color. All of the accessories that come with the figures - like wands - are also gold. Reminiscent of the wizard cards found in Chocolate Frogs, there are also random collectible wizard tiles included in the sets that feature famous witches and wizards from both "Harry Potter" and "Fantastic Beasts".

In "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001) Harry receives the incredible news that he is a wizard and will be allowed to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After living with the Dursleys for so long, he has a lot to learn. "Hogwart: First Flying Lesson" (LEGO 76395) reconstructs the day he learned to fly. Remember - after Neville Longbottom is hurt, Harry disobeys Madam Hooch to chase Draco Malfoy on his broom to retrieve Neville's Remembral. This is when Professor McGonagall spots Harry's flying skill and recruits him to be the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. The LEGO set includes Neville, Draco, and Madam Hooch minifigs; Professor Quirrell, the Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor, is the golden figure in the set. He is acting as a host for what remains of Lord Voldemort, who is kept covered by the turban; his face is attached to the back of Quirrell's head. Back in a 2001 LEGO set, the Professor Quirrell minifigure was special because it was the first ever minifig to have printing on both sides of the head (a face for Quirrell and one for Voldemort). It was also the first to feature a turban. The special 20 YEARS gold minifig also has the same features.

"Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter" (LEGO 76387) comes with a posable Fluffy, a giant three-headed dog with three different expressions, a harp, a trap door, and a representation of the Devil's Snare tentacles. After Harry, Ron, and Hermione fall through the trap door and become entangled in the vines, it is Hermione's idea to just relax and fall through. The neatest feature of the set is that the LEGOS build into five modules that can connect in many different ways. My grandkids and I spend a lot of time discussing how they should be arranged! Oh, and the set comes with a special edition gold Hermione.

One of the obstacles blocking the way to the Philosopher's Stone was a giant Wizard Chess game. "Hogwarts Wizard Chess" (LEGO 76392) not only recreates Ron's amazing feat in breaking past the enchantment set up by Professor McGonagall to guard the Philosopher's Stone, but it is also an impressive display piece and a working chess game with a playable chess board. Ron may wear hand me down clothes and use his brother's broken wand, but he is a true blue friend and a whiz at Wizard's Chess. The 20 YEARS gold LEGO in this set is Potion's Master Professor Snape. While it takes a while for the "Harry Potter" stories to develop his true importance to the story, he is important. Trust me!

"Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake" (LEGO 76386) recreates the moment in "Chamber of Secrets" when Harry, Ron, and Hermione scheme to find a way to infiltrate the Slytherin common room in order to find out what Draco knows about the Chamber of Secrets. The set is complete with goblets, a cauldron, and even a tiny spoon. Ron and Harry's minifigs have double sided heads and different hair pieces to turn them into Draco's minions, Crabbe and Goyle; their bodies are dressed in Slytherin uniforms. Hermione has a cat head, a reminder of the mistake she made when she made her potion, and there is also a bathroom stall where she can hide when she discovers what happened. The LEGO model of Moaning Mrytle's bathroom has a hinged sink that opens to reveal the tunnel to the Chamber of Secrets and also contains a special gold figure of Harry Potter.

The next set, "Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets" (LEGO 76389) contains four modular sections that represent the Great Hall, Gilderoy Lockhart's Classroom, Gilderoy Lockhart's Office, and the Chamber of Secrets underneath Hogwarts. It has a slide that can connect to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom, leading to the serpent door, which Harry opens using his knowledge of Parseltongue. There is also a statue of Salazar Slytherin; its mouth opens to reveal a secret tunnel that leads to the Basilisk's lair. And, speaking of the Basilisk! It is fully posable. Its jaws open and close, and its tail can move around. We can't forget to mention Nearly Headless Nick's glow in the dark minifigure and the replica of Tom Riddle's diary. The set, which features a gold anniversary Voldemort, is a great display piece.

Third year students were able to visit Hogsmeade Village occasionally - if they had a valid signed permission slip. "Hogsmeade Village Visit" (LEGO 76388) recreates the shops that the students like to visit - Honeydukes, the sweet shop, and the Three Broomsticks, which sells Butterbear. LEGO's first ever recreation of the wizards' village displays snow-covered roofs and accessories, like the wanted poster of Sirius Black. The 20 YEARS gold LEGO in the set is Ron Weasley.

Made mostly for adults, the "LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition" (LEGO 76391) has over 3,000 pieces. Its centerpiece is Harry's owl Hedwig, which Hagrid gifted to him in "Philosopher's Stone", who holds a Hogwarts acceptance letter. There are, however, several other "Harry Potter" items, such as a wand, glasses, potion bottles, and a Golden Snitch to construct on a smaller scale. LEGO designed the gold minifigures in the set - Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Hagrid - to look like they did when they first appeared in LEGO sets in 2001. While Dumbledore and McGonagall have gold wands, Hagrid is equipped with a gold umbrella. Remember - after he is falsely accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets, his wand is broken; Potterlore implies that the pieces of it are kept in his umbrella, which does appear to have some magical power. After Dumbledore's death, Snape serves as Headmaster for a short time, and then McGonagall is appointed to take his place. "Harry Potter" canon strongly suggests that she still holds the position!
