The family adopted Tom but he was never named Corleone, he was known as Tom Hagen and was the family consigliere. In the book, those were their birth names but the kids went by Sonny, Fredo, Michael, and Connie.

Sandra Corleone was the wife of Sonny. Sonny had an illegitimate son with Lucy Mancini named Vincent Corleone but he was not mentioned by name in the Puzo novel. Michael Corleone was married twice in the original novel. He married Apollonia Vitelli and she became Apollonia Vitelli-Corleone. Their marriage was brief as she was killed in Sicily, Italy. Michael remarried Kay and they had two children together who were mentioned in "The Godfather". The novel did not list the two children by name. Carlo Rizzi is part of the Corleone family tree as he was married to Connie, so was the son-in-law to Vito.

The crime family's muscle included Luca Brasi, Peter Clemenza, Salvatore Tessio, and Al Neri. Paulie Gotto was Don Vito's bodyguard.
