Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Farley and Peter

Answer: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

Peter is in fourth grade and has a major problem - a problem named Farley Drexel Hatcher - known as Fudge. Fudge is Peter's two-and-a-half-year-old brother, who gets all the attention and causes all the problems. Everyone thinks Fudge's antics are cute, so he rarely gets punished for anything.

These antics include eating Peter's pet turtle, Dribble, and being rushed to the hospital to have the turtle removed. Dribble has died, but nobody cares, but then Peter's parents buy Peter a dog, which they named Turtle in honor of Dribble.
2. Nancy and Philip

Answer: Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret.

Margaret Simon is a 6th grader. Her mother is Catholic, and her father is Jewish. She was raised with no religious affiliation. However, she often talks to God, starting with, "Are you there, God? It's me. Margaret."

Margaret often worries about things. Such as, when her friend, Nancy, says she got her period, Margaret thinks there is something wrong with her since she doesn't have hers yet. Margaret later learned, however, that Nancy lied about getting her period when she got her real first one while they were out

When Margaret is at a party, she gets to kiss the boy she has a crush on while playing Two Minutes in Heaven.
3. Jill and Linda

Answer: Blubber

Linda is an overweight girl in Jill's 5th-grade class. She does her oral report on whales. Wendy and her sidekick Caroline give Linda the nickname Blubber because Wendy says she looks like a whale. Everyone is afraid of Wendy, so they call Linda Blubber. Jill, especially, being one of Wendy's close friends, is very involved in tormenting Linda.

Jill and her best friend, Tracy, play a Halloween prank on mean Mr. Machinist, one of their neighbors. Somebody reports them, and they get in trouble, and Jill remembers the threat that Linda made to get Jill back, and she realizes that it's Linda that turned her in. Jill tells Wendy, and Wendy holds a mock trial at school. However, when Wendy does not allow Linda to have a lawyer, Jill becomes upset and stands up to Wendy, which then turns Wendy against Jill.
4. Andrew and Nicky

Answer: Freckle Juice

Andrew is in 2nd grade and desperately wants freckles like his friend Nicky. Sharon, another classmate, sees that Andrew wants freckles and sells him a recipe for a potion for "freckle juice" for fifty cents. The recipe turns out to be nothing more than some mixed grape juice and other things that make Andrew so sick that he has to stay home from school the next day.
5. Victoria and Caitlin

Answer: Summer Sisters

Unlike many of Blume's books, "Summer Sisters" is aimed at adult readers, not preteens and teens.

Victoria (AKA Vix) and Caitlin have been friends since they were teenagers despite being complete opposites. However, Caitlin is now planning to marry Bru, who was Vix's first love, and Vix is upset. The story then goes into a flashback showing how the girls met in sixth grade.
6. Davis and Jason

Answer: Tiger Eyes

Davis, or Davey as she is better known, just attended her father's funeral with her mother and younger brother, Jason. Not long after, she begins tenth grade. However, she has a severe panic attack and faints. Davey's mother decides they need to get away and stay with Bitsy and Walter in New Mexico.
7. Helen and Thelma

Answer: Deenie

Deenie is thirteen years old. Her sister Helen is brilliant. Thelma is their mother who wants Deenie to be a model because of her beauty, and Helen to become a doctor or a lawyer because of her brains.

However, things are greatly complicated when Deenie is diagnosed with scoliosis and has to wear a body brace for the next four years.
8. Tony and Ralph

Answer: Then Again, Maybe I Won't

Tony is an eleven-year-old in New Jersey. Then Tony's father has a successful invention that puts the family in a new economic class, and they move to Rosemont, NY. Tony is upset when his older brother Ralph leaves his teaching job to earn more money working for their father. Tony meets a neighbor his age named Joel who, in front of adults, acts like the perfect kid but is involved in things such as stealing and drinking.
9. Winnie and Glenn

Answer: Iggie's House

Iggie and her family moved to Japan. She is Winnie's best friend. A new family moves into Iggie's house, and Winnie is excited because they are black. She wants to be friends with the new Garber children, Glenn, Herbie, and Tina but keeps offending them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Landon, another neighbor, wants to run the Garbers out of town because of their skin color.
10. Merle and Libby

Answer: Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great

Sheila is ten-years-old and very insecure. She has arachnophobia, cynophobia, and aquaphobia. At camp, she meets Merle, also known as Mouse. The house they are staying at for the summer has a pregnant dog, and her sister, Libby, wants one of the puppies. Plus, her parents signed her up for swimming lessons.
