Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Snape was involved in an important meeting. With her husband sent to Azkaban, Narcissa Malfoy feared that Voldemort's plans for her son Draco put him in too much danger. Along with her sister, Bellatrix Lestrange, she went to Snape's home to ask for his help in protecting her son. There Snape was goaded into making the unbreakable vow that he not only would protect Draco, but also assist him in any way necessary, by even carrying out Draco's orders if he was unable to complete his mission.

Dumbledore asked Harry to accompany him on a visit to see Professor Slughorn, who was retired from teaching at Hogwarts. In desperate need of a new potions teacher, Dumbledore hoped that Harry's presence would help to persuade Slughorn to return to teaching. You see, Slughorn liked to "collect" students; he tried to make lifelong connections to those who could benefit him in some way or one that he could just brag about having known. Dumbledore knew that Slughorn possessed valuable information that could help bring about Voldemort's defeat; he just refused to reveal it. The idea of adding Harry to his collection was just too tempting, and Slughorn agreed to return to Hogwarts. Will Harry be able to convince Slughorn to give up what he knows about Tom Riddle?

Harry hadn't planned to take potions as he NEVER got along with Snape, but with Slughorn teaching the class, he and Ron agreed to give it a try. He didn't, however, have a book, so Slughorn suggested that he take one from the cabinet. The "Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage" book that he found was annotated by someone who called himself the Half-Blood Prince. The annotations fine tuned potion making, and following their directions earned Harry the Felix Felicis, or liquid luck potion, for brewing the best Draught of Living Death. Harry eventually used the luck potion to retrieve information that Slughorn had refused to give concerning his time at Hogwarts while Tom Riddle was his student.

The "Half-Blood Prince" was the first movie that showed Ron playing Quidditch, a game that he genuinely loved. At first he didn't seem like a very gifted player, but he played the position of Keeper brilliantly in the match against Slytherin, with strength and finesse, as he believed that Harry had gifted him with the special luck potion. As it turned out, Ron was a pretty talented player who was hampered by anxiety and self-doubt. He just needed more confidence. His great performance caught the attention of a classmate named Lavender Brown.

Ron, Hermione, and Harry aged as the movies progressed, of course, and those who paid attention could tell that Hermione had feelings for Ron. It took him some time, however, to figure that out. In "Half-Blood Prince", Ron's love interest - at least for part of the movie - was Lavender Brown. Theirs was definitely just a young adolescent crush, but Hermione became angry every time she saw them kissing. She triumphed, though, when Ron, sick from poisoned mead and mostly asleep in the infirmary at Hogwarts, asked for her instead of Lavender. Lavender stormed away, and over time broke off the relationship.

Harry excelled in potions class with the help of the Half-Blood Prince's book. Reading the notes in the margins not only helped him make the perfect potion, but also gave him insight as to other spells. He sensed throughout the movie that Draco was up to something, but could never get anyone to take his concerns seriously or catch Draco in the act of doing something wrong. On one occasion, he found Draco having a mental breakdown in the bathroom; Draco reacted by trying to cast a hex on Harry. The confrontation escalated, and Harry instinctively used the Sectumsempra spell. Even though he had never been taught how to use it, and really didn't even know what it did, he had found it described in the potions book. Draco ended up covered with deep, bleeding cuts. Luckily Snape was close by to rescue Draco and heal the wounds. Harry realized he had crossed the line by using the spell, and discussed the situation with Ron, Hermione, and Ginny.

Ginny Weasley met Harry after he and Ron became friends, and over time developed a huge crush on him - he was a celebrity, after all! As she got older, she dated other boys, and became more a friend to Harry - until "The Half-Blood Prince". Throughout the movie it became more and more apparent that the two were attracted to each other. Ginny, realizing the potions book presented a danger to Harry, took it and hid it in the Room of Requirement. She asked Harry to close his eyes so he wouldn't see where she put it, and kissed him when his eyes were closed. Harry kissed her back!

Throughout the movie, Harry spent a lot of time with Dumbledore looking at the pensive, the magical basin that revealed thoughts and memories, and learning how to use it to understand what had happened in the past. Dumbledore used the pensive to share his first memory of meeting Tom Riddle, and Harry used it to learn of Slughorn's memory of his time with Tom as well, specifically the conversation the two had about horcruxes. Dumbledore hoped to give Harry the information he would need in the future to defeat Voldemort, and he took Harry with him on a mission to find Salazar Slytherin's Locket, which he believed to be a horcrux; he hoped that it would help prepare Harry for horcrux searches in the future. It was quite an ordeal, and Dumbledore was gravely weakened.

Unknown to anyone, Snape had already agreed to kill Dumbledore at some point, at Dumbledore's own insistence. He was ill, having received a lethal curse that withered his hand, turned part of it black, and appeared to be spreading. After he learned that Voldemort had given Draco the task of killing him, and realizing that he only had about a year to live, Dumbledore asked Snape to carry out the deed instead. He wanted to die with dignity and protect Draco's soul from the corruption caused by committing a murder. Dumbledore was killed after he and Harry returned from retrieving the Salazar Slytherin Locket. After witnessing the murder, Harry tried to use the Sectumsempra spell on Snape who easily reflected it; it is at this time that Snape revealed that he was the one who had created the spell, as he was the Half-Blood Prince in Harry's potions book.

After Dumbledore's death Harry found out that the Salazar Slytherin Locket that he and Dumbledore had worked so hard to retrieve was a fake. There was a note inside the locket that presented another mystery that had to be solved. Together, Harry, Ron, and Hermione decided that it was imperative for them to leave school and spend the next year looking for the remaining horcruxes.

Ron Weasley showed his skill as a strategist in wizard chess in the first movie, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001). Lockhart was the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher in "Harry Potter and the "Chamber of Secrets" (2002), and Harry destroyed Tom Riddle's diary in the same movie, although at the time he did not know that it was a horcrux. Hagrid taught Care of Magical Creatures for the first time in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004). Harry won the Tri-Wizard Tournament in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2005).
