Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What color is the Fishpaws' living room couch?

Answer: Blue

It is light blue velvet to be exact. We first see this couch during the opening credits when the front door to the Fishpaw residence swings open and the camera ventures into the living room. The poor thing suffers a few bouts of abuse throughout the film, most notably when police cut it open and remove the stuffing while searching for evidence to convict Dexter as the Baltimore Foot Stomper.
2. When Francine calls everyone to dinner at the beginning of the movie, what is Lu-lu doing?

Answer: Styling her hair

Dexter is sniffing glue and Elmer is already seated at the table, waiting for his dinner when Francine rings the little dinner bell. Lu-lu is in her room, in front of the mirror and styling her hair while moving her hips to her theme song, "Be My Baby's Daddy", sung by Debbie Harry.
3. Who calls Francine to inform her that Dexter has been expelled from school?

Answer: Mr. Kirk

Mr. Kirk is the principal of Dexter's junior high school. He is of the opinion that Dexter is criminally insane. Imagine that! He calls Francine during Cuddles's first visit that we see. Francine and Cuddles sit down at the kitchen table and split an entire cake together. They are visiting and eating this cake when Mr. Kirk calls.
4. When Lu-lu presents her recent report card to Francine in the kitchen, she informs her mother that she is quitting school to be a go-go girl at a local lounge. What is the name of this establishment?

Answer: The Flaming Cave Lounge

Towards the beginning of the film, we see Francine in her kitchen cleaning. Lu-lu enters, after just getting home from school, and Francine asks her about her day. Lu-lu immediately dumps her schoolbooks, opens the refrigerator, takes out a soda pop, shakes it and sprays it all over the kitchen, much to her mother's dismay.

She fudges some facts about her report card and claims she is now a cheerleader, which is also a lie. It is at this time that the Flaming Cave Lounge discussion occurs.
5. What type of hairstyle does Elmer's secretary sport?

Answer: Cornrows with beads

We first see Sandra, Elmer's secretary with whom he is having an affair, when she calls to let Francine know that Elmer has been called out of town on business and will not be coming home that evening. Her hairstyle is rather noticeable. You can even hear them clink together numerous times, most notably towards the end when she and Elmer are trying to quietly break into the house and kill Francine!
6. When Cuddles drags alcoholic Francine out to a department store to help her shop for a debutante gown on their way to the AA meeting, what adorns the top of Francine's handbag into which she vomits?

Answer: Red strawberries

As Cuddles tries on dresses in the fitting room, you see Francine and her purse when Francine can resist the urge to get sick no longer. This disgusts another woman shopper in the store, which prompts the saleslady to throw Cuddles and Francine out.
7. Where does Dexter finally meet his demise as the Baltimore Foot Stomper?

Answer: In the supermarket

Dexter Fishpaw is addicted to sniffing glue and stomping on women's feet. We see him attack several victims in the earlier part of the movie - a waitress at a coffee shop, a lady shopper at the local mall, and even his own mother, Francine, right out in the front lawn of their house. Finally, Dexter stalks a small woman in the supermarket, then stomps on her foot.

He is then tackled and captured by two larger men inside of the supermarket, a few displays of products being knocked down in the process.

Afterwards, we see police enter poor Francine's house and tear it up, looking for more evidence to convict Dexter of being the Baltimore Footstomper. Dexter goes away to prison for a while, but comes home after he is released and begins a new life at home as an artist.
8. Who kills Bobo Belsinger, Lu-lu's no-good punk boyfriend?

Answer: La Rue, Francine's conniving mother

Francine's mother, La Rue, is not a very good mother. She is constantly putting Francine down and stealing from her, even plotting with Todd Tomorrow to take her house and her alimony payments from her! Bobo and his friend happen to show up at the Fishpaw house dressed in Halloween costumes while La Rue is snooping around inside.

She answers the door and Bobo shoots her in the leg. They then destroy the living room. The last laugh is on Bobo, however, as La Rue is able to get a hold of the gun and shoots him in the chest, killing him.

A Sister of the Church does give Bobo a savage beating earlier on in the film, though.
9. Who sings the tune entitled "The Best Thing"?

Answer: Bill Murray

Bill Murray sings it! Bill is a very well-known actor, starting out as one of the original "Saturday Night Live" (back then, it was just called "Saturday Night") cast members and starring in films such as "Caddyshack", "Ghostbusters", "Groundhog Day", "What About Bob", "Rushmore", and "Lost in Translation", just to name a few.

It's a little bizarre that he sang this one song in a rather obscure film at the time, and didn't even star in it! We hear the song when Francine first falls in love with Todd Tomorrow as they frolic through the field and roll in the hay.
10. What does Lu-lu discover that helps her find herself?

Answer: Macrame

Lu-lu discovers macrame after she endures a miscarriage and her boyfriend's death. She claims it has helped her to be more gentle and creative. At the end of the film, however, she ends up strangling Sandra, her father's girlfriend, on the stairs with one of her creations. Dexter is the one who discovers painting after he serves time in prison for stomping on women's feet. What is his favorite subject to paint? Why, feet, of course!
