Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the cold opening of "Severe Crane Damage," Norm is banging his pencil, and soon everyone is banging, clapping, etc., in rhythm. Woody then leads them in which song?

Answer: We Will Rock You

"We Will Rock You" was written by Brian May, lead guitarist for Queen, and recorded by Queen in 1977. In 2009, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. All the other choices were also songs that Queen sang.

The people at the bar started singing the song because of the rhythmic nature of the song; as Norm started banging his pencil and others joined in, it seemed natural.
2. What song do the barflies sing after Sam beats Robin at pool?

Answer: Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye

"Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" was written in 1969 by Paul Leka, Gary DeCarlo, and Dale Frasier. They then recorded it under the fictional band Steam. Leka said he was writing the song, and every time he didn't have words, he put in "na na," which is how the "na na" came about. Then later, DeCarlo added, "Hey Hey."

Robin had challenged Sam to a game of pool with a one-dollar wager. Sam doesn't understand the big deal about one dollar until he wins. Then he and the others sing the song to gloat that Sam beat Robin.
3. In "Loverboyd," Sam leaves Woody with Kelly in her bedroom. At the end, it shows Sam with another woman in another apartment in the same building. They are watching a movie and singing along with the theme song. What movie was it?

Answer: Ghostbusters

The "Ghostbusters" theme was written and performed by Ray Parker Jr in 1984 for the movie of the same name.

Woody and Sam climbed up to Kelly's room with a ladder. However, after Woody and Kelly make up, Kelly asks Woody to get rid of Sam. When Sam leaves, he takes the ladder with him. Later, when Woody tries to leave, he hangs out the window and calls for Sam, and the camera switches to the other apartment. Sam and the woman are on her bed watching TV and singing along to the "Ghostbusters" theme.
4. In "Mr. Otis Regrets," when Lilith is teased about taking singing lessons, what song does she sing to prove that she's not afraid to sing?

Answer: Sonny Boy

"Sonny Boy" was written by Ray Henderson, Buddy De Sylva, and Lew Brown. And as Lilith said in the episode, it was made famous by Al Jolsen.

As Lilith sings the song, everyone starts to leave one by one because the song touches them. First, Cliff leaves to call his mom. Next, Norm leaves but doesn't say why. Then, Carla leaves to send her mother flowers. Woody leaves to go rent "The Jazz Singer." Frasier asks Lilith why she's never sung to him like that, and Lilith replies, "Because your breath doesn't smell like cookies."
5. In "Grease," Sam makes fun of Robin for having to do community service. What song does he play to tease Rebecca about it in the original airing of this episode?

Answer: I Fought the Law

"I Fought the Law" was written by Sonny Curtis and recorded by The Bobby Fuller Four in 1966. It was later recorded by The Clash in 1979.

Rebecca is upset about Robin, and Sam turns on the jukebox to "take her mind off of things." The song he plays is "I Fought the Law." Rebecca then says she is going to "Stand By Your Man," but "I Fought the Law" plays again. She unplugs the jukebox, but Sam has a cassette player that plays the song behind the jukebox that he pulls out.
6. Does the "200th Episode Special" play the full version of "Where Everybody Knows Your Name"?

Answer: Yes

"Where Everybody Knows Your Name" was written by Judy Hart-Angelo and Gary Portnoy and performed by Portnoy. Usually, only the first verse and chorus are played. However, at the end of this episode, the entire song was played as clips from the previous episodes were shown.

The second verse starts with "All those nights when you've got no lights, the check is in the mail." The third verse begins with, "Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead."
7. In "Veggie-Boyd," what song does Lilith sing when Woody says, "tractor"?

Answer: Tomorrow

"Tomorrow" was written by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin for the musical "Annie."

Frasier has hypnotized Lilith in the past with different words making her do various things. When he says, "brie cheese," she removes her shoe. Carla says it again, and she removes the other.
Then Frasier asks her, "Is that a tambourine behind you?" Lilith starts to unbutton her shirt. Woody is upset about Veggie-Boy being canceled. He says, "All I need is three tons of topsoil and a tractor." Lilith repeats "tractor" and starts to sing "Tomorrow."
8. In "Norm and Cliff's Excellent Adventure," what song does Frasier sing when he tells Lilith he will serenade her at their house?

Answer: Autumn in New York

Vernon Duke composed "Autumn in New York" in 1934. He offered it to Murray Anderson to use in the musical "Thumbs Up!" on Broadway. It was used and sung by J. Harold Murray in the show.

Frasier sings the song, trying to forget Sam cut his card. Lilith tells him, "It was a lovely honeymoon, wasn't it?" Frasier replies, "I bought this piano with my gold card. I mean, yes, dear."
9. What song do Norm and Cliff sing at Rebecca's bridal party?

Answer: Lollipop

"Lollipop" was written by Julius Dixson and Beverly Ross. In 1958, the duo group Ronald & Ruby recorded it. However, the best-known recording is The Chordettes, also in 1958.

The jukebox at the bar had to be sent out for repairs. Sam was given a karaoke machine for the bar while it was being fixed. Norm and Cliff took the mics and started singing "Lollipop." Then later, they sing it again, having inhaled helium. Frasier gets annoyed and asks what the song is about. Norm tells him, "a girl and her lollipop."
10. In "Days of Wine and Neuroses," what song is Frasier singing when Rebecca tells him, "shut up and leave me alone!"?

Answer: Isn't It Romantic

"Isn't It Romantic" was written by Richard Rogers and Lorenzo Hart for the musical comedy "Love Me Tonight."

Frasier is annoyed that Norm and Cliff were singing "with those stupid voices and even stupider song" when singing "Lollipop," so he takes over the karaoke song. The first song he sings is "Isn't It Romantic?". Rebecca is upset as she realizes she doesn't want to marry Robin and starts crying. She tells Frasier, "Oh, shut up and leave me alone." He replies, "Hey, cut me some slack. I've had no formal training."
11. "Day of Wine and Neuroses" had a few good songs. What song from "The Pajama Game" does Frasier sing with the karaoke machine?

Answer: Hey There

"Hey There" was written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross and opened on Broadway on May 13, 1954. This song is brilliant, as the person who plays Sid Sorokin sings a duet with himself.

Lilith tells Frasier it's time to stop on the karaoke machine as he's been on it for two days. He replies, "In the middle of my salute to Adler and Ross, I think not."
12. What song does Rebecca sing at the end of "Days of Wine and Neuroses" before she passes out?

Answer: We've Got Tonight

"We've Got Tonight" was written by Bob Seger, who also recorded it in 1978. It was also recorded in 1983 by Kenny Rogers.

Rebecca comes on to Sam in her apartment after telling him she doesn't want to marry Robin. She then tells him to "get ready for the most exciting night of your life." Then she passes out because she's so drunk.
13. In "Wedding Bell Blues," what song does Frasier start singing, but then Lilith takes over when Norm and Cliff ask her to get Frasier off the karaoke machine?

Answer: You're Just in Love

"You're Just in Love" (and all the wrong choices as well) was written by Irving Berlin for the Broadway musical "Call Me Madam."

While the guys are tired of hearing Frasier sing, they enjoy hearing Lilith. However, Frasier doesn't want to listen to her since she kicked him off the karaoke machine and is getting a better reception in the bar than he did.
14. At Robin and Rebecca's wedding in "Wedding Bell Blues," Robin surprises Rebecca by having Bobby Hatfield sing at the wedding. What song does he sing before Sam asks him to sing another song?

Answer: Unchained Melody

"Unchained Melody" was written in 1955 by Alex North and Hy Zaret for the movie "Unchained." The Righteous Brothers, composed of Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley, recorded it in 1965. Since then, it's been recorded by many other artists. In 1990, the Righteous Brothers' version was used in the film "Ghost."

Robin tells Rebecca, "Now that I'm finally unchained," and brings in Bobby Hatfield, who sings "Unchained Melody." Rebecca says, "It's the other Righteous Brother." Robin replies, "It's Bobby Hatfield," Rebecca says, "To me, he'll always be the other Righteous Brother."
15. What children's song does Sam sing to Frederick when Sam is locked outside, and it starts raining?

Answer: Itsy Bitsy Spider

"Itsy Bitsy Spider," also known as "The Incy Wincy Spider" in Australia and Great Britain, is a nursery rhyme that has been around since at least 1910.

While Sam is stuck outside the window, it starts to rain. He asks Frederick if he knows about rain and starts to sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider," but then lightning strikes, so Sam tries to break the window and hurts his hand. He tries to climb to the tree and climb down but falls instead.
