Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The 1966 Baltimore Orioles accompanied by their tremendous pitching staff, skunked which NL pennant winner in the World Series?

Answer: Dodgers

The Orioles had four pitchers win one game each in the series. They stuck with three starters and one reliever. With starters Wally Bunker, Dave McNally, and Jim Palmer all throwing complete games in two, three, and game four, it was Moe Drabowsky who helped McNally in the first game for the win and his only appearance. Sandy Koufax, after going 27-9 in his final season, threw only six total innings in the series with two strikeouts.

Answer: Roberts

The others never pitched for the Phillies or Orioles. Born with the name Robin Roberts, he was a 21-year old rookie in 1948. He retired in 1966 as a Chicago Cub. Roberts' runner-up MVP was to Cub outfielder Hank Sauer in 1952. Unfortunately, Robin also led the league five times by giving up the most home runs in a season.
