In 2012 the capacity of the ground was increased to an all-seated 31,750. It conmsisted of four stands named after former club president Jack Hayward and former players Steve Bull, Stan Cullis and Billy Wright.

but Wolves nearly always wear gold shirts with a black trim and black shorts.
4. In 1888, Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of the 12 founder members of the Football League?

Answer: True

The Football League was founded in Manchester in April, 1888. The twelve clubs who played in the inuagural season were Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke, West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves finished that very first season in a creditable third place, and also reached the FA Cup final, losing to Preston North End.
5. In 1893, Wolverhampton Wanderers won the FA Cup for the first time, defeating which team in the final?

Answer: Everton

Wolves eliminated Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough, Darwen and Blackburn Rovers to reach the final of the 1893 FA Cup. The game was played at Fallowfield Stadium in Manchester, the only time this venue hosted a final. A crowd of 45,000 saw Harry Allen score the only goal as Wolves defeated Everton 1-0.
6. Wolverhampton Wanderers enjoyed a "golden era" during the 1950s, when they won three Division One titles. Who was their manager throughout this period?

Answer: Stan Cullis

Stan Cullis was a former player with Wolves who took over in the manager's seat in 1948. Between then and 1964, he presided over the greatest era in the club's history. Three league titles were secured, in 1954, 1958 and 1959, as well as two FA Cup triumphs, in 1949 and 1960. The club's fortunes declined in the early 1960s and Cullis was sacked in 1964.
7. Wolverhampton Wanderers have a number of local rivalries with West Midlands neighbours, but the fiercest is with which club, in a match known as the "Black Country Derby"?

Answer: West Bromwich Albion

The "Black Country" is a nickname given to that area of the West Midlands that includes Dudley, West Bromwich, Walsall and Wolverhampton. The name comes from the days of the industrial revolution when smoke from factory chimneys caused air pollution.

Wolves and West Brom have been contesting the Black Country Derby since 1886. Any game involving Walsall against either West Brom or Wolves can also be called a "Black Country derby", however Walsall tend to play their football in the lower divisions and rarely play their more illustrious neighbours.
8. Which trophy did Wolverhampton Wanderers win in season 1970-71?

Answer: Texaco Cup

The Texaco Cup was a short-lived tournament of the early 1970s involving clubs from England, Scotland and, briefly, Northern Ireland. The highest scoring clubs who hadn't qualified for Europe were generally invited. In 1970-71, Wolves defeated Dundee, Morton and Derry City to set up a two-legged final with Heart of Midlothian. Wolves won the first leg in Edinburgh 3-1, with Hearts winning the second game 1-0 at Molineux, meaning Wolves lifted the cup with a 3-2 aggregate score.
9. In 1972, Wolves reached the final of the very first edition of the UEFA Cup, losing to which other English club?

Answer: Tottenham Hotspur

The UEFA Cup was the successor to the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Wolves went all the way to the final of the inaugural edition in 1971-72, defeating Academica Coimbra of Portugal, ADO Den Haag of Holland, Carl Zeiss Jena of East Germany, Italian giants Juventus and Ferencvaros of Hungary.

Their opponents in the two-legged final were fellow English club Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs won the first leg at Molineux 2-1, and a 1-1 draw in the second game at White Hart Lane wasn't enough for Wolves to get their hands on the trophy.
10. Wolverhampton Wanderers' last major trophy of the 20th century came in the League Cup. Who scored the only goal of the 1980final as Wolves shocked Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest 1-0?

Answer: Andy Gray

Wolves had won the League Cup once previously, in 1974. In season 1979-80, they defeated Burnley, Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Grimsby Town and Swindon Town to set up a final date at Wembley with Nottingham Forest. Forest were both the holders, and reigning European champions, so were strong favourites to retain the cup, but a goal by Scottish international striker Andy Gray was enough to upset the odds and take the cup back to Molineux.
