Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Sabrina fails her test for her witch learner's permit, what does she have to do?

Answer: Go to witch camp

For her 17th birthday, Sabrina is given a handbook (in the shape of a hand) with information that she will need to pass a test to get her witch learner's permit. The problem is, she has taken on a lot of responsibilities at school. Her algebra teacher, Ms. Quick, recommended that she do some extra work after school so she could get college credit and she agreed to do it. She promises to make cookies for Harvey for a bake sale that he was running (because his cookies were bad). She agreed to make a poster for Harvey for the school dance. She becomes editor of the school newspaper. She focuses on these tasks and ignores the witch handbook, also ignoring the warning from her aunts and her quizmaster.

She fails the test on the first try and has to go to witch camp, which is like a military boot camp for teenage girls. The camp interferes with the school dance. Sabrina sneaks out of the camp and goes to the dance. At the dance, she gets caught by the drill sergeant and has to return to camp. She has to clean the floor with a toothbrush as punishment for breaking out. When witch camp is over, she studies the handbook. She passes the test on the 2nd try. The quiz master rewards her with her learner's permit and by offering her a dance with Harvey in her house (he conjures up music for them to dance to and he erases Harvey's memory when it's over).

This episode is the first appearance of Valerie (Sabrina's best friend in seasons two and three), Ms. Quick (Sabrina's favorite teacher in seasons two, three, and four,) and Mr. Kraft (the school vice principal in seasons two and three and the principal in season four). Valerie replaces Jenny and Ms. Quick replaces Mr. Pool, both of whom were gone from the show after season one without explanation. Mr. Kraft is a second villain on the show, who works closely with the show's first villain (Libby).
2. In "Dummy For Love," what is Sabrina's punishment?

Answer: She gets buried up to her neck in dirt in the backyard

When Harvey fails a test because the football coach added an hour to practice (giving him less time to study), Sabrina writes an article for the school newspaper saying that the school emphasizes sports too much and not enough on learning. Mr. Kraft does not like the article because the school's biggest donations come from sports people and her article reduces the number of donations the school gets. He goes to her house to explain this to her guardians. Zelda agrees with Sabrina, but when he sees Hilda, he falls in love with her and Sabrina notices that.

The next day, Sabrina casts a spell that fills Libby's locker with pie. Mr. Kraft does not see Sabrina casting the spell, but he concludes that Sabrina put the pie in Libby's locker somehow. He is going to give her detention, but then she tells him that her aunt Hilda is smitten with him but she will not be happy with him if he is mean to Sabrina. This makes him cancel the detention, but Hilda refuses to go out with Mr. Kraft no matter how much Sabrina begs. Sabrina then casts a spell on Hilda that turns her into a dummy, which means that Hilda cannot speak on her own and Sabrina has to speak for her.

Mr. Kraft shows up at the house and invites Hilda on a date and Sabrina makes her say yes. He takes her to his favorite restaurant and Sabrina secretly goes there and sits in the booth next to them (without them noticing). Sabrina speaks for Hilda. Sometimes, other people (such as Valerie and the waitress) show up and Sabrina speaks to them, accidentally making Hilda speak in the process. By doing this, Sabrina convinces Mr. Kraft to kiss Hilda, which breaks the spell. Hilda screams and then pepper-sprays Mr. Kraft (she thought he drugged her and took her to the restaurant without her consent). Soon after Mr. Kraft leaves, Hilda and Sabrina see each other and they both scream.

Hilda takes Sabrina to Zelda and tells Zelda what happens. Zelda gets angry, and Sabrina explains that she did this to save Harvey. Zelda performs a test to see if Harvey was the only person that Sabrina was trying to save: she makes Sabrina stand in a circle and wrestle her conscience (a large sumo wrestler). Sabrina fails to stay in the circle. When they all get home, Sabrina is buried up to her neck in the backyard in the rain. They leave an umbrella for her, which Sabrina describes as a "lightning rod."

Two of those other answers happen in other episodes. She does not lose Harvey at all in this episode and she does not lose him forever at any point, though she does temporarily lose him at the end of season four.
3. What happens to Dante the last time that we see him?

Answer: He has a bone in his head

In "Dante's Inferno," Harvey says to Sabrina that his father told him to date other girls. Hilda and Zelda then tell Sabrina to date other boys. Harvey gets set up with a model named Jean while the aunts set Sabrina up with a witch named Dante. They go on a double date in a bowling alley. Dante is new to the mortal realm and doesn't know how to bowl. Despite Sabrina's warnings and best efforts, Dante keeps using magic in the bowling alley. The last straw is when Dante turns Harvey into a bowling pin and rolls the bowling ball at him. Sabrina's magic stops the ball just in time, but she is forced to lie to Jean and say that Harvey went home without telling her. Zelda turns the pin back into Harvey and Sabrina uses her magic to get Harvey and Jean to make amends.

The side plot in this episode is that Hilda gets pun-itis, a disease that witches can get. One example of what happens is that Hilda tries to magically make ice cream and instead she makes "eye scream" (a screaming eye in the freezer). Another example is when Zelda struggles to speak, Hilda says "What's the matter, cat got your tongue?" and Zelda's tongue ends up in Salem's paws. After Sabrina dumps Dante, Hilda apologizes to her for setting her up with him and admits that Dante was a "bonehead." We then see Dante with a bone in his head. This is the last time we ever see him, so we never find out if the bone ever gets removed, or if he's stuck like that forever.
4. Zelda never turned herself into a man.

Answer: False

In "Sabrina the Teenage Boy," Sabrina turns herself into a boy so that he can hang out with the boys and learn what they act like when the girls aren't around. Hilda turns herself into a man in an attempt to send Mr. Kraft away from her house forever (she figured that Mr. Kraft would be more likely to listen to a man than to her). Multiple times, Zelda tells them that she thinks it is wrong for a girl or woman to turn herself into a boy or man.

However, at the end of the episode, Zelda turns herself into a man.
5. In "A River of Candy Corn Runs Through It," what kind of talking objects do the Spellmans get?

Answer: Chairs

When Valerie and Sabrina overhear that Libby is having a Halloween party at her house and they're not invited, Valerie loudly announces in the hallway that Sabrina will host a Halloween party at her house. Sabrina gets her aunts' permission and reluctantly throws the party.

Hilda and Zelda buy chairs from the other realm. They discover that the chairs talk, which horrifies Sabrina because she invited mortals to her house for a Halloween party. They plan to return the chairs to the store, but it's closed for Halloween (the most important holiday in the other realm). They then plan to move the furniture to the basement for the party, but then the furniture gets infested with talking termites. The furniture is kept in place.

The party starts off poorly. The chairs are instructed not to talk, Valerie is sad that she is the only one wearing a costume, and there's no music because the termites have eaten the stereo. When Valerie falls through a hole in the floor, the other party guests discover bite marks. The chairs can't stay quiet any longer and they blurt out termites. Also, Halloween carolers (people wearing odd masks) show up and a ton of candy corn spills into the living room (Hilda made too much candy corn). The guests think that these are all fake Halloween props. Salem takes advantage of their ignorance and he talks, and they think he's another Halloween prop. Lastly, Sabrina makes 10,000 Maniacs appear in the dining room and play "Rainy Day" (for some reason, the band never questions anything). Libby shows up at the party claiming she is only there to mock the people who went to Sabrina's party, but one of the guests reveals that Libby's party ended because some kids (that Harvey was supervising) egged her house. The quizmaster appears at the party (claiming his family is away and he has nowhere else to go on Halloween) and dances with Valerie and cheers her up. The carolers eat the termites.

It ends up being a great Halloween for Sabrina. The talking chairs never appear again after this (presumably, Hilda and Zelda returned them to the store).
6. During which decade does most of "Ina Gadda Sabrina" take place?

Answer: 1960's

The quizmaster gives Sabrina a quiz, for which she has to make something from a cookbook that he gives her. She passes the quiz by making a time ball, which smells like sardines and transports the world into whatever decade she thinks of. She goes to the 1960's to buy a pair of Hilda's favorite kind of pants (Zelda had thrown out Hilda's original pair of that pants and Hilda had been complaining that she wanted it back). She returns to the present to give Hilda the pants. Hilda and Zelda tell her that only witches know that time changes with the time ball and mortals are under a spell which makes them act like 1960's mortal but doesn't let them know that time changed. At night, Salem eats the time ball (because it smells like sardines, which cats like) and watches a 1960's movie on TV, which transports time to the 1960's again.

Sabrina's wardrobe and her bedroom change. The clothes are a lot bigger than her normal clothes. Her walls are decorated differently. Her aunts are also dressed differently, and even though they understand that time changed because of the time ball, they still say things like "Mellow out" and "The muses will guide us to the time ball."

At first, Sabrina enjoys the 1960's because class is easier, Mr. Kraft is nicer, and everyone hates Libby. Sabrina's opinion changes when she sees how much women are oppressed. She cannot go to the college she wants (that college had been trying to recruit her before the time warp) and all the women have to wear long dresses (the admins measure how long the dresses are to see if they are long enough to fit the dress code) and "shoes that cause permanent foot problems" (according to Ms. Quick). Then, Sabrina cannot wait to return to the 1990's (the present day at the time of this show).

At home, Sabrina smells sardines on Salem's breath and realizes that he ate the time ball. He runs away from home so that the women cannot get it, but then he returns home. In the end, the time ball exits his body when he uses the litter box and they return to the 1990's.
7. On Friday the 13th, black cats can scare everyone. What can a witch do?

Answer: Tell a mortal that she's a witch

In "To Tell a Mortal," the quizmaster tells Sabrina that it's Friday the 13th and she can tell any mortal that she is a witch and they will know until 12:00 AM on Saturday the 14th. Hilda and Zelda warned Sabrina not to do this because bad things happened to them hundreds of years ago when they told their best friends. Sabrina goes against their advice and tells Valerie that she is a witch and zaps a sweater for Valerie to prove it. Valerie then tells Harvey and then Sabrina zaps in some baseball cleats to prove it to him. When Valerie tells Harvey, Libby overhears and tells everyone.

First, they have fun using magic at school. Sabrina makes Valerie fluent in Spanish and they make the history teacher not give homework. Then, Sabrina shows them the linen closet which takes them to the other realm, in this case, a party for the mortals. At the party, Harvey gets to play catch with Mark Langston and Valerie gets to dance with Drew Carey.

At home, a mob shows up at Sabrina's door because of Libby. Harvey and Valerie tell Libby they have no idea what she is talking about and the mob goes away and no one believes Libby. Midnight hits, and Harvey and Valerie forget that Sabrina is a witch but they have souvenirs to remember the day (Valerie has Drew Carey's glasses and Harvey has a hurting hand caused by Langston throwing the ball too hard). Sabrina tells her aunts that she had a great day and they are jealous that her friends are better than their friends were.
8. Who saves Hilda and Zelda from Merlin?

Answer: Quizmaster

In "Oh What a Tangled Spell She Weaves," the quizmaster forbids Sabrina from making things happen just by pointing her finger and she can only use magic via incantations. He also forbids her from using an undo spell. Sabrina's incantations always do the job that she intends them to do, but they also always have side consequences that she does not intend or know about.

At one point, she accidentally sends her aunts and Salem to Merlin's castle, where he traps them. Sabrina admits to the quizmaster that she made a lot of mistakes with her spells and she begs him for help.

He undoes all of her spells and saves her aunts and Salem. Sabrina learns to trust her elders and to be more careful with her spellcasting.
9. John Ratzenberger plays a character named Bob. What other name does Bob go by?

Answer: Santa Claus

Around Christmas, Sabrina develops a case of egotitis (a disease that witches get that makes them greedy and self-centered). Hilda and Zelda summon Bob to help her. Bob's initial attempts to help her do not go so well. Things get worse when he seems to fall on the ice and get seriously injured. Hilda and Zelda tell Sabrina that Bob is really Santa Claus and he got injured so badly that Sabrina has to take his place.

The reindeer gets sick from eating the list, so Sabrina travels to the houses by riding her vacuum with Salem by her side, dressed as Rudolph.

She gives everybody the best present that they could have. She even does a nice thing for Libby. After this, her egotitis is cured. Bob reveals that he was not really injured and he was faking because he figured Sabrina would be cured if he took her place (and he also wanted a break from an annoying elf that repeatedly shouts "Mayday!").

The aunts were mad at him when they learned this, but then he gave them presents which made them VERY happy and they forgave him.
10. What happens on the ski trip?

Answer: It gets cancelled

In "Little Big Kraft," there was going to be a ski trip supervised by Mr. Kraft. When he announces the rules of the ski trip in the cafeteria, which include no laughing and everyone helping with the chores, Sabrina gets the idea to give him a potion that will make him think like a teenager so he can relate to the kids better, which she hopes will make him treat them better. Sabrina uses Zelda's laptop to make the potion. At first, the spell seems to work great. Sabrina's detention is cancelled and Hilda's date with him goes splendidly. However, as he becomes less and less mature, he stops paying his employees. He doesn't pay the light bill or the janitors and he doesn't sign the food order, so there is no lunch or electricity and the school is unclean. He also does not pay the bus drivers for the ski trip, so the buses do not come and the ski trip gets cancelled. The last straw is when Hilda's next date with him goes really badly (he throws food on her and demands to go home early). Hilda makes Sabrina tell her about the spell she put on Mr. Kraft. Zelda uses the laptop to make a potion that turns him back into his old self. Zelda then punishes Sabrina (for using her laptop after she forbade everyone else to use it) by grounding her and making her use the laptop to make limburger cheese, which Sabrina finds disgusting. Salem pretends to faint, which makes her walk out of the room to call her aunts for help, and he eats the cheese after she leaves the room.

"Mr. Kraft makes everyone do the chores" is a wrong answer because, although he said he was going to do that, he ended up not doing that because the trip ended up not happening at all.
