Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The episode opens with Gomez and Morticia a little bored. Gomez says "if you've wrecked one train, you've wrecked them all" and how he sometimes wishes the trains would miss each other. Morticia mentions they do seem to be in a rut with their morning strolls in the swamp. Gomez adds what as another example of their daily routine?

Answer: fencing across the lunch table

It was in the previous episode, where Wednesday had run away, where Gomez and Morticia were using the whip to snuff out the candle.

Morticia suggests a cup of henbane to soothe Gomez's nerves. Thing pours, of course.
2. Morticia initially suggests taking a vacation but quickly changes her mind and instead thinks they should invite someone to the house. Mr. Harris always enjoyed his time there, but Gomez thinks he won't have time to visit because Mr. Harris is too busy doing what?

Answer: Has a new job with the government

Mr. Harris is apparently a bigwig taking foreign diplomats, Miri Haan and Ila Klarpe, on a tour of the town. But the diplomats haven't been enthusiastic about the tour so far and Washington has been blaming Mr. Harris for the so-far failure of the tour. Mr Harris is worried he will be fired if the tour is a complete failure. Haan and Klarpe think they've been shown the fake America and want to see honest people.
3. Haan and Klarpe decide to stick their finger in the phonebook and choose a place at random to visit. And they choose the Addams house! What did they specifically want to observe when they arrived?

Answer: Everyday routine

Haan and Klarpe thought they were getting the typical American family, despite Mr. Harris's protestations. Besides the overall room, the first things they notice are Gomez's cigars were pre-lit and Morticia's plants were carnivores.
4. Why does Cleopatra go after Mr. Harris?

Answer: He calls her a glutton

Clearly Mr. Harris has been here before because he says Cleopatra is a little glutton. Morticia reprimands Cleopatra and says he was only joking. She goes on to say that Cleopatra is really sweet and quite young, but not very s-m-a-r-t (spelling it out, because Cleopatra apparently can't spell). Gomez says Cleopatra is three and still can't feed herself yet. The foreign visitors are impressed a 'woman' has made these plants.

Earlier in the day, while Gomez and Morticia had tea, Morticia fed Cleopatra half a donut. Cleopatra went for the other half, but Morticia ate it, telling Cleopatra not to spoil her lunch.
5. Next up is Thing. He impresses the foreign visitors with what?

Answer: His strength

Thing delivered the mail and met Haan and Klarpe. But when he shook Klarpe's hand, he was so strong that they were terrified. Gomez and Morticia didn't seem to notice, paying more attention to what was in the mail than what was going on in front of them. They received bills!
6. Uncle Fester is the next 'normal American family' member to meet the foreigners. What 'normal' thing does Fester do?

Answer: Recharges

Gomez is showing Haan and Klarpe how he wrecks the trains when Uncle Fester walks in, feeling a bit run down and asking for help recharging. Mr. Harris says it's just an expression and they're just playing a joke. Uncle Fester proves it's not a joke, places Mr. Harris's hand on his head, and sparks go flying.

As Fester leaves, Gomez reminds Uncle Fester to stay away from water - the last time, Uncle Fester took a shower and blew out all the fuses in the house.
7. Now they meet Lurch. What were Haan and Klarpe expecting?

Answer: Poor, weak slave

Haan and Klarpe are excited when Gomez rings for Lurch, saying they will finally meet a "downtrodden member of the American slave class." But when Lurch comes in, Gomez asks for a cigar so Lurch picks up the Native American cigar holder and carries it around the room, which takes a lot of strength.

They are amazed and think Lurch is a robot! They say from Morticia's plants, then Thing, and now Lurch - Americans definitely have robots and will flood the labor market.
8. What did the visitors think was caviar?

Answer: eye of tadpole

Haan and Klarpe told Morticia it was very thoughtful of them to serve caviar and at first, Morticia is confused until she realizes he is referring to the eye of tadpoles. Gomez added that blue eyed tadpole is even better, but it's not in season. The beef wasn't beef - it was breast of alligator. There was some 'beef' leftover, so Gomez fed it to Tristan and Isolde - the piranhas.
9. Pugsley's turn to meet the visitors. How does he prove not to be so normal?

Answer: He built a disintegrating gun

He finally put it together and asks the guests if they want to see it work. He showed them by making a lamp disappear. Then Klarpe takes it and makes a vase disappear. That's when Gomez takes the gun and suggests Pugsley plays with it outside before more objects disappear.
10. In the end, what happens to Haan and Klarpe?

Answer: They decide to respect Americans

Mr. Harris overheard Haan and Klarpe discussing all they learned. ray guns built by little boys, robots... They decide they must respect all Americans now. Haan says it's not safe to offend them and Klarpe adds that it's better to be their friends than be their enemies.

Mr. Harris calls to say that Haan and Klarpe cut their trip short and went back to their country to make a full report. They apparently also wanted to take Lurch with them for scientific research.

In the end, Gomez and Morticia decide they like their every day routine.
