Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The second half of the Mega Leg (featured in Leg 6) was held in what Argentine city?

Answer: Córdoba

Unlike Leg 1 and 2 in Puerto Vallarta where racers landed on the Pit Stop mat and were told to keep racing, Leg 6 featured two back-to-back sets of tasks as the eight remaining teams pushed through Córdoba, Argentina. After the first Detour and Road Block in and around the city, racers proceeded immediately into another Road Block, heading into the city from its outskirts (at the Circuito Lobo Race track) to Estadio Francisco Cabasés to get their next clue.
2. At Estadio Francisco Cabasés (in Leg 6), racers completing the Road Block competed in a variant of what common Argentine sport?

Answer: Soccer

Reaching the gate of Estadio Francisco Cabasés, racers had to tackle their second Road Block of the Mega Leg, choosing one team member to engage with a unique form of Argentina's favourite sport. Shane, Cesar, Bizzy, Yvonne, Rod, Amber, Angie, and Derek only needed to score a goal against the other players, but they needed to do this playing bubble soccer, scoring within ninety seconds to get their next clue.

After this, they could drive themselves to the clue box waiting at Mirador del Coniferal.
3. Had teams decided to complete it, the 'Who Did It' Detour option in Córdoba (during the Mega Leg) involved techniques used by which profession?

Answer: Forensic scientists

The clue box at Mirador del Coniferal contained the second Detour of the Mega Leg, and the first of the two options presented, 'Who Did It', was one that none of the racers actually pursued. For this task, racers needed to drive to a fake crime scene and analyze bloody fingerprints. Using brushes, latent powder, and lifting tape, racers had to locate and lift a fingerprint and then use it to identify the culprit from a list of provided prints. All teams, instead, took the 'What's Your Beef?' Detour option.
4. In the 'What's Your Beef?' Detour task at the end of the Mega Leg, how many cuts of beef did teams need to memorize?

Answer: Fourteen

All racing teams headed to the 'What's Your Beef?' task instead of the 'Who Did It' challenge, visiting a Córdoba butchery to learn the names and cuts found on a side of beef. With these provided to them, racers headed to the nearby Patio de los Naranjos and use one of three available tables to place the fourteen cuts on a massive cutting board, effectively remaking their cow. If they could place all the pieces, they'd be able to head to the Pit Stop.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race at the end of the Mega Leg (Leg 6) in Argentina?

Answer: Derek and Shelisa

Heading out from the second Detour, teams received one last clue pushing them onward to the race's sixth Pit Stop in front of El Catedral de Córdoba in Plaza San Martín. If they could navigate the city and find the mat, they could check in and find out their fate. Juan and Shane, flirting with the win in the previous leg, finally overtook Ricky and Cesar this time to win their first leg of the race, claiming $5,000 USD each. Derek and Shelisa, who fell too far behind the other teams, were sent to the Pit Stop after completing their second Road Block to be eliminated in eighth place.
6. How many groupings of teams set out at the start of Leg 7 in Montevideo, Uruguay?

Answer: Three

Racers departed from Argentina, picking their hotels for the night via the Expedia app and flying southeast before starting Leg 7 in the Uruguayan capital city of Montevideo. There, racers were let loose in three groupings, each departing fifteen minutes apart, from atop the city at Fortaleza del Cerro.

This time, their clue had them driving to the water's edge at Puerto Logístico Punta de Sayago for the next clue box.
7. The leg 7 Road Block had them headed to the harbour. There, they joined with the workers in which trade?

Answer: Welding

Finding the port allowed the racers to find the Road Block for their Uruguayan leg, and this time they needed to pick a team member who was ready to make sparks fly. Joining the local harbour workers, the selected racer had to learn how to weld, using the tools provided to fuse two pieces of metal together at a right angle. If their metalwork could survive a strength test (being struck with a hammer) then they would get their next clue.

Cesar, Shane, Vinny, Rod, Danny, Yvonne, and Sunny completed this task.
8. Racers who selected the 'Candombe' Detour task in Uruguay in Leg 7 had to learn which instrument?

Answer: Drum

Racers headed out from the Road block and drove to Ciudad Vieja to find their Detour clue box, and this naturally meant making a choice. In 'Candombe', racers joined local Uruguayan Carnival-goers in learning a complex drum routine on candombe drums. Finding their way to Calle Isla de Flores, they had to pick up their drum, march with a group led by a drum leader, and properly beat out the required beat to get their next clue.
9. Which team completed the 'Murga' Detour task in Montevideo?

Answer: Yvonne and Melissa

Racers choosing the 'Murga' Detour task in Leg 7 still participated in Uruguay's carnival, but from a different venue. Driving to Plaza Juan Ramón Gomez, racers had to join the Murga performers onstage, learning and singing a song entirely in Spanish. If their performance had enough flair to impress the Murga director, they would receive their next clue.

Ricky and Cesar and Yvonne and Melissa were the only teams to complete this one; everyone else did 'Candombe'.
10. Which team checked in last at the race's seventh Pit Stop in Montevideo, Uruguay?

Answer: Sunny and Bizzy

Teams left the Carnival festivities after their Detour and drove themselves to their next Pit Stop at the end of the leg, and to get there they needed to find their way to the sandy beaches of Playa Malvín. Ricky and Cesar were able to reclaim their first place spot (their fourth of the race) by edging ahead of the other teams at the Detour, this time taking with them a trip for two to Paris courtesy of Expedia. Sunny and Bizzy, however, suffered poor navigation en route to the Detour and were unable to recover from their faltering.

They were eliminated in seventh place overall.
