Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The race's first Road Block took place in Puerto Vallarta and had teams jumping through lassos created by which local ranchers?

Answer: Charros

Racers needed to make their way away from the Puerto Vallarta beaches towards the end of their first leg and out to the ranch at Lienzo Charro Miguel "Prieto" Ibarria. There, one member of each team had to get into the arena and jump through seven spinning lassos in a row, clearing the ropes while wearing a sombrero and handkerchief. If they could pass through the gauntlet they could head onward to the Pit Stop.
2. Following the Road Block in Leg 2, racers had to don costumes of which of these to head to the Pit Stop?

Answer: Butterflies

Reaching Lázaro Cárdenas Park in Puerto Vallarta's Zona Romántica, racers had to join the celebration for Day of the Dead by having the selected racer paint their partner's face. If they could use the provided makeup to replicate the calavera design provided to them, they could get the approval of their judge, don monarch butterfly wings, and race on foot to the Pit Stop at Casa Kimberly. Two teams (Michelle and Sean and Kishori and Karishma) found the Road Block before the Detour and started early. Upon realizing this, they headed back on track and returned to complete the task.
3. In Guatapé, Colombia, racers visited a coffee plantation for their Road Block. Did they need to drink any of the coffee for the task?

Answer: No

Reaching Casa Loma in the outlying town of El Peñol, Colombia, racers had to choose one participant from each team to scale the hillsides searching for Arabica coffee cherries that could be harvested. Once they felt they collected enough they could bring them back for processing, dehusking them to attempt to weigh out a kilogram. Once they tipped the scale they could collect their final clue and race to the nearby Pit Stop.
4. In the fourth leg of the race, teams found the Road Block at Botero Plaza in Medellín. How many sculptures did racers need to memorize?

Answer: Twelve

To close out Leg 4, racers visited Botero Plaza and chose teammates to engage with local art made by Fernando Botero. With a map and twelve labels, the team members had to gain their bearings and properly place them on their board in the proper spots. If they could get them all right, they could race onward to the next Pit Stop. Amber, Ricky, Danny, Shelisa, Rod, Shane, Michelle, Karishma, Yvonne, and Sunny participated in this task.
5. Racers encountered two Road Blocks in Córdoba, Argentina as a result of the Mega Leg. Each of these tasks had to be completed by different team members.

Answer: False

Although this is often the case for legs of the race featuring two Road Blocks, a Mega Leg isn't two legs of the race back-to-back; it's one solid leg with two sets of tasks. As such, racers could put up whoever they wanted for both Road Block tasks (with the general caveat of needing both racers to have as close to an even Road Block distribution going into the final leg of the race).

The first Road Block in Córdoba involved memorizing a rally car track while the second had teams scoring a goal in bubble soccer. Because of the open option, Amber, Angie, and Derek doubled up on Road Blocks this leg.
6. In Leg 7, teams needed to weld metal with harbour workers in what South American capital city?

Answer: Montevideo

Leaving the Pit Start overlooking Montevideo's waterfront, racers had to drive to a nearby port to complete their Road Block, a test of skill and a test of patience that would have them learn metalworking. Cesar, Shane, Vinny, Rod, Danny, Yvonne, and Sunny had to properly weld two squares of metal together at a right angle, handing it over to a tradesman for a strength test that would make or break their hard work (with a hefty hammer). If their metal could withstand the blow, they could keep racing.
7. In Barbados in Leg 8, racers played which of these street sports for their Road Block?

Answer: Road tennis

After driving to the Black Rock and Fairfield intersection of Bridgetown, racers ripped open their Road Block clue and commenced a task in the wet streets of the city. For this one, racers had to play road tennis, a variation of tennis played on the street pavement and scored similar to table tennis. If racers could collect eleven points, they would get their next clue. Ricky, Angie, Yvonne, Leticia, Juan, and Viny were selected for this task.
8. There were two Road Blocks in Leg 9 as teams navigated the Dominican Republic. Which came first?

Answer: Identifying petroglyphs in a jungle canyon

At the start of Leg 9, racers found a Road Block waiting for them in the jungles of Imbert in the Dominican Republic, and there, one racer hiked along a forest trail to a watery canyon course. Along they way they needed to locate ten Taino symbols, matching them up with rocks, in order, at the end of the canyon run to get their next clue.

A second Road Block came in this leg when teams visited Estadio Bartolo Colón in Altamira. There, racers had to complete three baseball training drills to get another clue.

In an uncommon twist, racers did not need to divide these tasks equally; the person who completed the first Road Block was not barred from completing the second.
9. In Leg 10, which racer was mandatorily required to complete the windsurfing Road Block?

Answer: Leticia

Hitting Cabarete Beach in Leg 10, four racers had to get into the waters of the Caribbean Sea for their Road Block, joining an instructor to learn how to windsurf. If racers could figure out how to maneuver the sail and keep their balance for a full minute, they could receive their next clue and keep on racing.

While Ricky, Juan, and Vinny opted to complete this Road Block, Leticia was an odd case as Rod had already completed the maximum allowable number of Road Block tasks for the race. As such, she had no choice.
10. Both Road Blocks encountered in the race's final leg were completed in what 'City of Brotherly Love'?

Answer: Philadelphia

Racers flew to Philadelphia to cap off this season of "The Amazing Race" and faced two Road Block tasks and, as with in Leg 10, Leticia was required to complete both (while the other two teams divided out equally to hit their Road Block targets). In the first task, racers dressed as mascots and hit Lincoln Financial Field for an obstacle course (culminating in firing a t-shirt cannon at a target). For the second, racers visited the Betsy Ross House to recreate the original U.S. flag, listing the original Thirteen Colonies in order of their ratification as they went.
