Fran Drescher starred in "The Nanny" for six seasons in the 1990s on CBS. The show's theme song told us than Fran moved from Flushing, New York to become a nanny for the Sheffields in Manhattan. Fran's New York accent and amazing wardrobe were unforgettable.
2. Flipper
Where else would a show about the world's most intelligent television dolphin be set than the Sunshine State? "Flipper" ran from 1964 to 1967 and was set in Coral Key Park and Marine Preserve, a fictional location that was in the Florida Keys.
3. Friday Night Lights
"Friday Night Lights" premiered on NBC on October 3, 2006. The series took us inside of the super competitive world of Texas high school football. The home team was in Dillon in the rural west part of Texas. The series starred Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton.
4. Ice Road Truckers
Where else would a reality show about truck drivers risking their lives driving on snow and icy roads? "Ice Road Truckers" ran for eleven seasons on the History Channel and split episodes between Alaska and Canada.
5. Baywatch
Who can forget Pamela Anderson running down the California beach in her red lifeguard uniform? "Baywatch" became an international television hit. The series ran for 241 episodes and was primarily set on Los Angeles County beaches, most specifically Will Rogers State Beach. The final two seasons were moved as the show was renamed "Baywatch Hawaii".
6. Loudermilk
"Loudermilk" only ran three seasons on the AT&T Audience Network but its rights were bought by Amazon Prime. The series starred Ron Livinston as the title character, a music critic and former alcoholic, who lead support groups in Seattle, Washington. The "Grunge capital of the world" was a key factor in the show but it was actually shot in Vancouver, British Columbia.
7. The Young and the Restless
"The Young And The Restless" debuted in 1973. The CBS soap opera was set in the fictional city of Genoa City, named after a Wisconsin town. The creators of the show had a vacation home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, near Genoa City and thought the town was the perfect setting for the series.
8. True Blood
Down in the swamps of Louisiana, we were introduced to the vampires living in the television series, "True Blood". The series starred Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress with telepathic powers living in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana.
9. Good Times
From 1974 to 1979, "Good Times" brought us the Walker family living in a public housing project in Chicago. The series was a spinoff of "Maude" which, in turn, was a spinoff of "All In The Family". "Good Times" showed the Cabrini-Green neighborhood during the opening song credits.
10. Better Call Saul
"Better Call Saul" was a spinoff of the series "Breaking Bad". Both series were set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "Better Call Saul" was actually a prequel to "Breaking Bad" and starred Bob Odenkirk as lawyer Jimmy McGill. The series ran from 2015 to 2022 on AMC.
