Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Atomic Heart" you play the role of Major Sergey Nechaev, whose day goes from bad to worse when Facility 3826 is besieged by malfunctioning robots. This happens on the eve of a new technological network known as Kollektiv 2.0, said to be designed for which of these purposes?

Answer: To usher in a post-labour world

Set in 1955 in an alternate history in which the Soviet Union gained the upper hand in World War II and led itself to a strong future bolstered by strong robotics and scientific progress, "Atomic Heart" follows Sergey Nechayev (also known as P-3), who works in service of Dmitry Sechenov, responsible for the rolling-out of Kollektiv 2.0, a phase in robotics and automation that plans on setting up Facility 3826, and the rest of the world, for a post-labour society.

The catch is that moments before its rollout, the robots of the Facility have gone haywire, with most of them becoming destructive and murderous. Nechayev, already on assignment, must locate Viktor Petrov, believed to be the cause of the malfunctions, and bring him in.
2. Agent P-3 has a Polymer glove embedded with a helpful AI assistant known by what name?

Answer: Charles

Agent P-3 is one of the early examples of Polymerization and adoption of new tech. After his life was saved, Nechayev was given a Polymer glove embedded with CHAR-les, an AI assistant designed to aid him in performing whatever tasks he needed. As the story progresses, it appears that CHAR-les is able to be leveraged not only for different capabilities (including 'Shoking' and other elemental feats) but for bouncing ideas off of. CHAR-les will help P-3 come to conclusions about his circumstances that he wouldn't otherwise realize.

It'll later become apparent that CHAR-les is actually the artificial consciousness of Chariton Zakharov, Sechenov's former colleague, so he has more insight than it may appear off the jump.
3. Upgrades to your abilities and weapons are performed through a vending machine bearing which name?

Answer: NORA

An socially disrespectful being, even in the regards of the other robots encountered in Facility 3826, NORA happens to be the only creation that can facilitate upgrades to P-3's items and abilities. Often found in safe rooms and next to save stations, NORA connects to the Polymer glove and allows you to spend hard-found resources and Polymers on weapons, ammo, and CHAR-les' attacks. NORA will rarely miss the opportunity to express her lustful attraction to Nechayev, and it's the awkward relationship she has that leads to the events of the "Annihilation Instinct" DLC.
4. To escape the Vavilov Complex, you need to secure how many canisters, necessary to activate the PEC-4 Birchtree's power system?

Answer: Six

Nechayev will reach the Vavilov Complex a bit worse for wear, especially when some of the encounters there lead him not only to need to get very deep into the facilities, but bring him right to his target, Viktor Petrov...and his headless corpse. There's still a lot to do though. In order to get out of the Complex, P-3 has to search the Seed Bank, Algae Workshop, Hot Workshop, Cold Workshop, Germination Workshop, and the Pesticide Workshop for canisters that power up the PEC-4 Birchtree, one of the complex's crowning energy achievements. If this can be done, he can surface in the woodland village outside.

His next goal is to locate and follow Yegor Molotov, who's been sent by the Politburo to look into Sechenov's Atomic Heart project, and that means getting across Facility 3826.
5. Emerging into the Forester Village, you'll need to find a ticket to ride on which of these modes of transportation to the VNDH Compound?

Answer: Maglev train

Crossing through the Forester Village, Nechayev will encounter Granny Zina, an eccentric, yet clever older woman who greeted him before he ventured into the Vavilov Complex, and she'll fly in aboard her rocket-powered cabin to provide some helpful direction as he crosses to the maglev train station, Facility 3826's greatest form of transport.

The problem is that in order to get to Solnechnaya Station and the VDNH to meet with Michael Stockhausen, Nechayev needs to find a monthly pass to ride, and naturally, that doesn't go as planned either; it'll crash as it makes it to its destination.
6. In the All-Soviet Exhibition Centre (in the VDNH), Nechayev will need to initiate a drill sequence, and this requires a specific robot. To start this, he needs to reassemble her. What is her name?

Answer: Claire

Arriving at Solnechnaya Station, P-3 will have a couple of to-dos in the area (including destroying Hedgie, a massive robot, in the exhibition arena) before gaining access to the VDNH building and the All-Soviet Exhibition Centre. There, a Tereshkova robot will be implemented to initiate the drill sequence but the only way to go ahead with this is to repair her partner, Claire, whose body parts are scattered throughout the facility. The bots will ultimately follow through on the sequence before Stockhausen arrives with Politburo rep Yegor Molotov, the latter intent on shutting down Kollektiv 2.0 and investigating Sechenov. Unfortunately for him, P-3 will fall unconscious, only awakening when everyone in the room has been slaughtered.

In the wake of this event, it will appear that someone is trying to send classified info about the Facility's chaos out to the West, something that only Sechenov and Petrov could do. With Petrov being dead, P-3 has to head out and determine who's responsible for that transmission before returning to Chelomey City.
7. Nechayev will finally catch up with Petrov moments before his target decides to end his own life. Before he does, he hands over which of these, which key players have been looking to obtain for their own nefarious means?

Answer: Rings

Nechayev will stumble upon Petrov and Larisa at the Sechenov Research Centre and they'll proceed to get the upper hand, tying him down, but inadvertently leaving him to be freed. The pair will split up, but Nechayev will still be mandated to get his hands on Petrov, and that will mean getting into the nearby facility and locating the Maya Plisetskaya Theatre therein.

As it will seem, Petrov will have gone over the deep end after his and Larisa's split, leaning harder and harder into mental detachment. He'll be found in the theatre, composing, and musing that if Kollektiv 2.0 is activated, it'll be the end of everything. He'll even go so far as to accuse P-3 of naivety for believing that Petrov could reprogram all of the robots to attack the Facility. Instead, he points the finger back at Sechenov before committing suicide, using his robots to decapitate himself before handing over the two brass rings that everyone has been searching for-- the key to Kollektiv 2.0, allowing the wearer to enter the consciousness without being seen by the system.

P-3 will need to take the head and report to the Pavlov Complex next to meet up with Stockhausen. And to do that, he'll need to grab a vehicle and go to the most remote part of the Facility.
8. The entrance to the Academy of Consequences is in a lighthouse, but where is the facility?

Answer: Underwater

After crossing the bridge, Nechayev will locate the infirmary building and descend into the labs there, home to the origin of all biological advancements in Facility 3826. Passing through the morgue there, he'll finally reach Stockhausen with Petrov's head and be met by Sechenov's two robotic guards, but the meeting will come to a violent end when it...and Stockhausen, are placed into an experimental Polymer, a consequence of Larisa Filatova swooping in with a grenade and destroying the effort. She'll recommend meeting her at the Academy of Consequences, found in the nearby lighthouse, to understand the truth. On the way there, Nechayev will through away the sought-after rings on CHAR-les' recommendation. At least it keeps the choice out of his hands.

After lying to Sechenov about his plans, Nechayev finds himself, perhaps unexpectedly, whisked into an underwater facility, home to the central archive, where Filatova reveals that she was helping launch Kollektiv. She reiterates that Sechenov isn't the good guy in this, and shows off the facility's massive warehouse of test subjects, all able to be subjugated by Kollektiv's powers, stripped of their free will. Sechenov, she says, wants to enslave the entire world. P-3 will vow to help, but he still has a choice in front of him.
9. It is later revealed that Nechayev is related to which other recurring character?

Answer: Granny Zina

Filatova reveals a lot of secrets that have long-eluded P-3. CHAR-les, for instance, is deteremined to be the sentient consciousness of Sechenov's old partner, and it's clear that not everything has been above board or truthful throughout this whole process, both from Sechenov and CHAR-les. A trio of film reels in the archive will point to the truth, specifically that Necheyev was injured in battle in Bulgaria and it resulted in a number of Polymer enhancements to bring him back to functionality. 'Blesna', his wife, was killed during this event. Necheyev's brain injury was so severe he would've otherwise been euthanised, but the Voskhod implant allowed scientists to keep him placated... even if they needed to switch him into combat mode on command.

Necheyev and Filatova vow to head to Chelomey and string Sechenov along with all they know, but they don't even make it up the elevator of the archive facility before P-2 is activated, killing FIlatova as he blacks out, passing into Limbo, the dream world that Kollektiv users visit in their fugue state.

But Necheyev wakes up in the care of Granny Zina, just outside Chelomey, where she reveals that she has always been watching over him, being the mother of his deceased wife. Knowing that something was amiss when he came back from Bulgaria, she dug into the mystery behind her missing daughter, realizing that Sechenov placed her consciousness into his two robots, taking parts of her personality and dividing them up to salvage what he could.

All of this leaves Necheyev with one final choice. He can refuse to face Necheyev altogether and leave Facility 3826 or he can head into Chelomey, guns blazing, to exact his revenge.
10. In the event that Nechayev elects to fight back against Sechenov to stop Kollektiv 2.0, he'll end up concluding the story in which spot?

Answer: Limbo

In the end, Nechayev has two choices, and neither is a particularly optimistic one. If he chooses to leave Facility 3826 without facing Sechenov, he'll choose the route that allows him to avoid confronting the choice at all. Kollektiv 2.0 will be activated a short time later, society will fall into a servile state, and that'll be that. The story here continues in the "Annihilation Instinct" DLC expansion.

But if he chooses to look into Granny Zina's arsenal and exact vengeance, P-3 will head into Chelomey and battle Sechenov's two bodyguards, avatars of Nechayev's former wife, in the final battle in his office. Upon concluding the fight, P-3 will simply shoot Sechenov in the gut, and that's where things will get dicey.

Sechenov ultimately blames Charles Zakharov in his last moments, revealing that the Polymer in P-3's glove, CHAR-les, was actually the evil force the whole time, intending on breaking free and combining with the red Polymer to take on a new form and end the human race once and for all, ushering a new wave of evolved beings in the wake of the extinction event. Zakharov will kill Sechenov without much issue while Nechayev will be placed in Limbo to reunite with the avatar of his dead wife. The story, in this case, will lead to the "Trapped in Limbo" DLC expansion.
