Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Easily the biggest feature new to this game stems from the Gobblegum Machine. In a nutshell, what does Gobblegum do?

Answer: Provide temporary buffs/etc to the player

There are dozens and dozens of different variants of Gobblegum, all of which convey many different, unique powers to the player. Some Gobblegums, such as Perkaholic or Shopping Free, are completely broken with enormously beneficial effects. Others, such as Board to Death, Killing Time and Sword Flay fail to generate anywhere near as much value. That's a metagame for ya.
2. Up through "Black Ops 2", zombies have been capable of consistently killing un-perked players in two hits. In this game, how many hits can a player survive from an ordinary zombie (assume they don't have Juggernog and the hits directly land)?

Answer: Two

Two rapid swipes from a zombie will never kill a player in this game, whereas that always killed players in every zombies mode to release prior to this one.
3. When viewing one of the Shadows of Evil, The Giant, Der Eisendrache, Zetsubou No Shima, Gorod Krovi or Revelations maps, players will see a large black hole on the cover design of each map. This hole can actually be filled in, but how?

Answer: Finishing the map's Easter Egg Main Quest

For all but Shadows of Evil, the hole will be filled with a small green gateworm. For Shadows of Evil, it is instead an icon of the Summoning Key. Either way, this can be used as proof, if you will, that a player has indeed finished that map's entire quest. If the quest has not been finished, a small, gaping black hole appears on the cover design for the player.
4. The proprietor of Gobblegum is Doctor Monty, his name shown on the machine dispensing them. Is Doctor Monty a good guy in this story?

Answer: No

Doctor Monty, as he appears in Gorod Krovi and early on in Revelations, will seem to approach players with good intentions, and he doesn't interfere with or antagonize them at any point of the story. However, towards the very end of Revelations, Doctor Monty does attempt to wipe our four protagonists from the plain of existence, and he's only prevented from doing so by a loophole Richtofen was able to enact. So while he arguably isn't a straight up villain, it also isn't accurate to label him as truly heroic either.
5. Right from moment one, The Shadowman makes his presence known, as a direct binary opposition to Doctor Monty. Is the Shadowman evil?

Answer: Yes

The Shadowman's efforts have consistently been put towards allowing Apothicons in to a particular area so that they can wreak destruction and devastation in their wake. If the Shadowman got his way, each and every single inch of the whole entire universe would belong to the Apothicons, subjugating any other species in a manner they see fit.

While Doctor Monty isn't exactly Superman, The Shadowman is definitely Lex Luther in this analogy.
6. The Shadowman both aids and commands the forces known as Apothicons. Are the Apothicons strictly evil?

Answer: Yes

The story is very complicated to comprehend, but it goes something like this. In the beginning, there were Keepers who helped to maintain the Aether, which is just a fancy label for the general living universe. One day, some Keepers were corrupted and morphed into malevolent, alien-like creatures known as Apothicons.

These Apothicons were eventually defeated and sealed away during the Great War, and they were sealed away to a pocket dimension known as the Dark Aether. The Shadowman's main goal is to release the Apothicons from the Dark Aether, and allow them to roam the Aether freely.

The idea being, the Apothicons could take over the Aether if the Shadowman is able to successfully facilitate their entry.
7. The Keepers are the main binary opposition to the Apothicons. Are the Keepers strictly good/heroic?

Answer: No

The Keepers exist to main neutral order in the universe, explaining why they oppose the Apothicons who seek to tear it apart.

However, the Keepers have also shown a dedication to their purpose that exceeds even their desire to destroy the Apothicons. On several occasions, players actually have to fight off Keepers as they are prompted or even required to go on tasks that involve them disrupting the natural order of the world.

The biggest example of this comes on Der Eisendrache. Here, players eventually end up time traveling, raising entities from the dead as spectral ghosts and heavily tampering with the forces of gravity.

As a result, the boss battle on Der Eisendrache is against a giant Keeper.
8. Before the grand, final battle takes place in Revelations, the Primis crew must venture to The Giant, Der Eisendrache, Zetsubou No Shima and Gorod Krovi. Once here, what must they do?

Answer: Kill the duplicate version of themselves

The idea is that the very fabric of the universe is in peril so long as the "Ultimis" versions of our four protagonists remain alive. Killing them involves getting the Summoning Key, physically murdering the Ultimis duplicate, then using the key to absorb their soul and remove them from this plane of existence entirely.

As it later turns out, Richtofen also saved streams of blood from each Ultimis crew member. He uses the vials containing these streams to prevent Doctor Monty from deleting them from existence later, as he is unable to completely eliminate the Primis versions with the physical blood of the Ultimis versions still in existence.
9. Let's say you've had enough of all this alien, fantasy nonsense; you just want to survive waves and waves of the undead, in classic Zombies fashion. Thankfully, you can easily have a blast doing that on any of this game's maps. What is the highest possible round a player can reach in this game?

Answer: 255

In "World at War", there was no round cap, so players could play the game until it straight up crashed. This has produced some pretty eye-popping world records that have extended past Round 10,000 in some cases.

Sadly, these near endless matches were a major burden on the game's soft and hardware. To defend against this, "Black Ops 1" all the way up to "Black Ops 4" imposed strict limits on how high a player could go. In these games, it is impossible to ever go higher than Round 255 on unmodified software. If a player actually does reach Round 255, then manages to "finish" the round, Round 255 will instead repeat itself, and it will do so forever and ever.

The limit would be extended to 1055 in "Cold War", mostly because that game is way, way faster paced than any of the previously mentioned games. As such, Treyarch probably felt more comfortable extending the round cap to compensate.
10. The Zombie Chronicles would go on to arguably be the most famous DLC bundle Treyarch ever sold. When purchasing this bundle with real-world currency, what does the player receive?

Answer: A collection of remastered original maps from older games

Within this bundle, players can experience the likes of Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi no Numa, Kino der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon and Origins. These maps from older games were completely overhauled and remodernized graphically, while also being built to accommodate newer mechanics of the game that "Black Ops 3" instilled.

The result was legendary, as this would go down as being arguably the most iconic DLC bundle ever sold by Treyarch.
