Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Landing in Cold-Colt Crest at the start of this Layer, it will become apparent that Donkey Kong will need to investigate the odd goings-on taking place in which regional landmark?

Answer: Cooling Tower

The Freezer Layer kicks off with views of a suitably cold landscape covered in ice and snow, and from Cold-Colt Crest, DK and Pauline will meet some of the local zebras who push them onward to Crumbly Bridge and their villages beyond. As they'll learn, a recent cold snap has led the locals to worry about the functionality of the Cooling Tower, a massive, zebra-shaped landmark needed to help along the Layer's industry of sweet, chilled treats. Getting across Crumbly Bridge to reach this is quite tough though since the ice bridge is way too fragile for non-zebra legs.

It'll signify a trip into the tunnels beneath the mountain.
2. If Donkey Kong falls into the icy water found throughout the Freezer Layer, what will happen?

Answer: Health will drain gradually

It's not just the snow and ice that DK needs to maneuver in and around, but expanses of frigid waters fed by glacial lakes, streams, and waterfalls, and this water is a little bit more dangerous than the water encountered thus far in the adventure. Landing in the water will cause DK's health to drain consistently, at least until he gets out of it.

This may lead to some uncomfortable hops across cold water to reach safe surfaces, but fortunately the water doesn't outright incapacitate anyone. It's probably just best to stay out altogether.
3. New foes in the Freezer Layer are capable of doing which of these actions to attack Donkey Kong?

Answer: Roll

Known as Rolluskoids, these new enemies attack DK with a vigor thus unseen, revving themselves up and charging ahead in a straight line. These foes can be found in both icy and hot parts of the level and, naturally, the way that they maneuver will be good to keep in mind for the Layer's big boss (there's a pattern there!).

As per normal, DK's best way of getting through any tussle with these is just swinging and hitting.
4. Which of these Fossils can not be found in the Freezer Layer?

Answer: Ammonite

Ammonite would have been found in higher Layers (Lagoon Layer and Hilltop Layer), and by the time you reach Sublayer 500, it's a while other series of collectible items. Here, the most common Fossil is the Sea Lily while ten Preserved Bugs can be found and a massive T-Rex can be located atop the highest mountaintop of the Layer.

Naturally, all three of these are currencies that can go towards Layer-specific clothing that can help DK improve his capabilities in freezing water or restore Bananergy faster or help Pauline lengthen Zebra Bananza time.
5. The zebras of the Freezer Layer will assert that the lava throughout their region is actually which substance?

Answer: Chocolate

For all intents, the stuff is lava; it functions as lava does, even causing DK to take immediate harm when he comes into contact with it (unlike freezing water, which will drain health gradually). But as the zebras note, the lava is chocolate, contributing to their ability to craft delicious dessert treats. On the upper Sublayers this may not have much meaning, but the deeper that you go in Freezer Layer, the hotter things will get. Tossing blocks of ice into lava will create platforms that DK can use to cross larger expanses or cool down valuable spots.
6. The Zebra Elder is found on Sublayer 501 overseeing which town?

Answer: Canter Creamery

As DK descends into Coolstripe Cavern and heads across the Chocolava Lake, he'll eventually come across Sublayer 501's village, Canter Creamery, a home base for all things dessert. Here, atop a small hill, he'll locate the Zebra Elder, who used to be Canter Creamery's hottest chef. Now, in the Elder's later years, he's an aspiring DJ (of course he is), and he'll task DK will locating the Ancient Record taken and shattered by Poppy Kong. Doing so will unlock a new Bananza.
7. How many Ancient Record pieces do you need to collect for the Zebra Elder?

Answer: Three

Although Poppy Kong will have taken the Ancient Record of Freezer Layer, she won't have removed it from the Layer entirely. Instead, she'll have broken the important item, scattering it in three different locations on Sublayer 501. With that, DK will need to spread across the outlying areas around Canter Creamery to overcome different obstacles in increasingly-more-lava-covered spots, collect the three pieces, and slot them into the Zebra Elder's DJ platform to unlock the Zebra Bananza and continue on to otherwise locked-off spots.
8. Inside the Cooling Tower, Donkey Kong has a battle against which VoidCo representative?

Answer: Poppy Kong

Once DK can actually get into the Cooling Tower he'll find the monkey responsible for the recent spate of chaos in Freezer Layer, none other than VoidCo's own Poppy Kong. Here, in an interior battle arena, Poppy Kong will spray herself with a proprietary Stealth Perfume to camouflage and then proceed to charge around the room. If DK can see through the illusion and fight back, she'll concede, hand over a key, and open the way down through the Cooling Tower to Sublayer 502 (through a few blockages of molten chocolate causing the problems with airflow in the first place).
9. Sublayer 502 contains a lava-filled world beneath the snow and ice of the higher Freezer Layer areas. Which of these is found at the far end of Hot-Hoof Heater?

Answer: Compressor

Descending through the Cooling Tower will bring DK down to Sublayer 502, home to Hot-Hoof Heater, where he'll find a massive lake of lava (erm...chocolate) and be one step closer to finding his way to the sinkhole that continues down into the planet. The way to go will be pretty linear; local zebras will point him in the direction of an overheating Compressor that can only be accessed by creating ice bridges crossing the heated landscape.

A bit of zebra racing will solve that problem.
10. Donkey Kong ends his quest through the Freezer Layer by facing Inflammonite. Which of these will weaken this foe?

Answer: Snow

Found in the Compressor, Inflammonite will appear as a super-hot version of the Rolluskoids found throughout the Freezer Layer, and with its size, it'll quickly become clear that its charges, which leave streaks of lava in its wake, will be more problematic than those from the smaller foes. Defeating this boss will involve tossing blocks of snow and ice at its outer shell.

When its fires are extinguished it will attempt to race up fragile elevated bridges it creates. Transforming into the Zebra Bananza will allow you to pursue and lay on the hurt. Beating Inflammonite will open up the Layer's Sinkhole.
