Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The notion of even getting underground and being able to access Nokron requires a specific boss be defeated first. Who must be slain?

Answer: Starscourge Radahn

Radahn's famous across the game for being actively holding up an entire series of stars and meteors that would otherwise travel across the Lands Between and gravely threaten basically the entire world. When defeated, he obviously loses the ability to keep doing this. Fortunately, he did it for long enough that the main impact of the force was severely weakened, but it still hits a portion of Limgrave hard enough to blow a massive hole in the ground. Fortunately, traveling into this crater is how the player is meant to reach Nokron.

It is the only way they can do so and actually explore Nokron, as while other ways to reach Nokron such as the Four Belfries exist, the player cannot freely explore Nokron unless accessing it this way, mandating Radahn's defeat prior.
2. Given that the Ghost Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (1) is found in Nokron, a player looking to use the game's more powerful Spirits already has incentive to come here. However, instead of just leveling up Spirits, coming to Nokron offers the chance to loot some pretty powerful new ones as well. Which of the following is an example?

Answer: Nox Swordstress and Nightmaiden

The Swordstress and Nightmaiden are agile combatants wielding very long melee weapons, giving them the ability to attack from afar. They're puppets, meaning that they'll stagger easily much like the player, but they cannot be guard broken in exchange, which generally tends to be a favorable trade. Overall, this spirit is just 'great' at doing anything- dealing damage, taking aggro for the player and surviving.

They aren't absolutely perfect at anything, but given how strong across the board at doing everything they are, this spirit tends to be viewed as a top ten option in the game.

As such, the player would do well to come to Nokron to obtain it.
3. If the player is coming here to try and progress Ranni the Witch and/or Blaidd the Half-Wolf's questlines, they'll know they're meant to come here to retrieve something for the former. What are they instructed to acquire?

Answer: This is unknown

The Royal Greatsword is Blaidd's weapon which he doesn't lose track of at anypoint, carrying it on his person at all times. The Miniature Ranni doll and Seluvis Potion are not relevant to this particular time and place. Meanwhile, the item the player is looking for is the Fingerslayer Blade.

The main challenge, however, is actually realizing the player has advanced Ranni's questline when they've found it. Unless the player has done her quest before and knows what the Fingerslayer Blade is, there is no indication as to what the player is trying to do, and what the Fingerslayer Blade even does. Ranni nor Blaidd ever specifically mention it, and the former will only tell the player they're meant to go into Nokron with Blaidd for a very vague reason of "good news".
4. When meeting him for the first time, Blaidd will tell the player he aims to travel to Nokron on behalf of Ranni. Ranni is also interested in seeing the player go to Nokron with Blaidd. When the player arrives at Nokron, where is Blaidd?

Answer: Unknown

Blaidd's whereabouts are never known during this sequence. He is seen trying to access Nokron via the Mistwood Ruins, but the only way to actually access Nokron is by defeating Radahn, which Blaidd is a summon for. After defeating Radahn and making Nokron accessible, Blaidd will leave Mistwood Ruins and simply vanish.

He isn't found anywhere inside Nokron. In fact, unless specifically doing his quest, he won't be seen again until the dead end of Ranni's questline.
5. Spirit hungry players will enjoy getting to experience Nokstella the Eternal City. This is because a very important item for renowned spirits is found here. What is it?

Answer: A bell bearing

The bell bearing specifically is the Ghost Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing (2). This will allow the player to purchase infinite amounts of Ghost Glovewort (4), (5) and (6), giving them the ability to bring all renowned spirits to +6.
6. Before getting terribly far into Nokron, there is a mandatory boss fight. This one was rather memorable, as the player will find that they're... fighting themselves, technically! Who's the boss?

Answer: Mimic Tear

When entering the boss room and getting close, the Mimic Tear will immediately copy the player and their build completely, then attack them with it. As the player enters the boss room, the Mimic Tear is initially a little too far away to copy them just yet.

This gives the player time to do something silly, like unequip all of their gear, get close to let the mimic copy their gearless body, then re-equip everything for the easiest boss fight ever.
7. After overcoming the first mandatory boss, the player can actually access a Remembrance boss. However, it will take some time, as a confusing puzzle has been attached to being able to reach this Remembrance. What must the player do six times?

Answer: Light a fire

There are six bowls attached to large, tall metallic tablets with foreign writing. Once the bowl is lit with fire, the writing on the tablets will light up. When this is done six times, the remains of the Regal Ancestor Spirit will come to life and the player can visit its boss room.
8. The Regal Ancestor Spirit, well known for being the boss showcased during From Software's initial grand reveal of the game's existence, is the Remembrance boss of Nokron. When defeated, its Remembrance can be used on one of two things. One is a weapon- what is it?

Answer: Axe

The Winged Greathorn is pretty much a replica of the main hand weapon of Ancestral Spirit Follower Chieftains. Sadly, it's a really poor choice for a weapon, dealing low damage, swinging slowly, having poor stats and an unwieldy Ash of War known as Soul Stifler. Soul Stifler will basically spawn a small weirdly tinted circular area that will reduce the defenses of all units who stand in it- bizarrely including allies of the user, such as other players, spirits or NPC summons.

While this has very situational merit, it's not even close enough to make the underwhelming weapon it's attached to worth using.
9. If the weapon is not to the player's liking the Remembrance of the Regal Ancestor can also give them a Talisman, the Ancestral Spirit Horn. What does it do?

Answer: Provide a small amount of FP after killing something

Every time something dies and the player has this Talisman equipped, they get 4 FP, no questions asked. While 4 FP is a pretty pathetic number, this can actually start to add up in the face of large groups of enemies. It can lighten the burden on the player's FP stock, affording for slightly more liberal use of FP consuming actions, such as Ashes of War, spells and various consumables.

As such, it's a respectable choice for one's Talisman slot.
10. When finishing off Nokron, the player arrives at Deeproot Depths. Here, a mighty, terrifying dragon could potentially be waiting for them as a boss, but only if the player has progressed a certain character's questline as far as it can possibly go. Who is this?

Answer: Fia

Fia's questline must be progressed to the point where she leaves the Roundtable Hold. There is no actual point of failure for this, the player can do it even after reaching Deeproot Depths having not done it.
11. With the dragon ready to go, the player's work in the Deeproot Depths will be cut out for them. Lichdragon Fortisaxx is a scary challenge for even overleveled players. Unlike other dragons, Fortisaxx has a trump card he can play where even a maximum, level 713 character with the best possible gear can still lose to him. It comes in the form of status. What status can Lichdragon Fortisaxx afflict?

Answer: Deathblight

Deathblight is this game's insta-kill mechanic- if that build up hits full, it doesn't matter how great your character is because they're going down, immediately. Predictably, Fortisaxx will make frequent use of this mechanic. As a result, this fight tends to not care much for the player's level, making it a consistent challenge each time it's fought.
12. While fighting the dragon can be done, the Deeproot Depths house a second, more modest but just as imposing boss. This boss isn't mandatory, but does drop the Siluria's Tree, a fine weapon, upon victory. What boss is this?

Answer: Crucible Knight Siluria

This is just a standard fight against a Crucible Knight wielding the very weapon it is set to drop. The player has likely fought these guys about a dozen times prior to this particular encounter, so the fight should be extremely straightforward.
13. The player must travel to Nokstella as a part of Ranni the Witch's questline. They're ordered to do so by an odd item of Ranni's making. What item orders the player to go to Nokstella?

Answer: A doll

Specifically, this is the Miniature Ranni doll, which Ranni has apparently shifted into taking the form of, unbeknownst to anyone else. She appears very angry that the player has discovered her like this, and will inform them that she will kill them if they don't kill a Baleful Shadow who has been trying to assassinate her. Predictably, this is done by finding the shadow while traveling into Nokstella.
14. To the objective, unquestioned delight of players worldwide, "Elden Ring" carried on the tradition of bringing forth a poison swamp, just like everybody in the whole entire world asked for. This isn't just any poison swamp- it's a swamp that afflicts the player with an even nastier status ailment, and it's found right outside of Nokstella after traveling through the city. What status will it afflict?

Answer: Scarlet Rot

Scarlet Rot is basically just Poison but twice as effective. Better bring some Boluses before diving in!
15. The very last boss (not counting Mohg, Lord of Blood) found underground, after finally finishing Nokron, Deeproot Depths and then Nokstella, is a Remembrance boss whose defeat will finally, mercifully cap off Ranni the Witch's questline. Who is it?

Answer: Astel, Naturalborn of the Void

Astel is incidentally later reused in the Yelough-Anix Tunnel at the Consecrated Snowfield, going under the new moniker 'Stars of Darkness'. Here, it is scaled for a roughly level 60 encounter, which is rather weird as Lichdragon Fortisaxx, a boss coming before Astel, is scaled for a roughly level 80 encounter.

As such, if the player handled Fortisaxx without too many issues, Astel should be a piece of cake.
