Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "New Super Marios Bros" (Nintendo DS) is a platforming game where Mario can, on occasion, get really, really big. Mega Mushrooms don't appear too often, but when they do, he can really wreck house. What color can be found on a Mega Mushroom?

Answer: Yellow

You know it's a Mega Mushroom, because the game actually very briefly slows down time just to showcase the fact that one has spawned, before then letting the game resume normally. These big, yellow behemoths are impossible to miss. And speaking of behemoth, that's exactly what Mario becomes when using a Mega Mushroom. He becomes capable of toppling over entire structures, immediately defeating any enemy he so much as touches, and becoming much faster.

However, Mario is not completely invincible in this state. No enemy can hurt him, but he will immediately take a death if he even dips a toe in a pool of lava. Of course, he can also just fall straight to his death, though he'll often be so big that he doesn't fit through most gaps to take a lethal fall in the first place.
2. In "Bloodborne", the player can fight a litany of different Undead Giant variants. What is one weapon these hulking warriors can be seen wielding?

Answer: Sickle

Undead Giants in this game can have four different weapons: a greatsword, a cannon, a scythe or a ball and chain combo. All Undead Giants have a sickle which will be wielded in either the main hand if they have a cannon, or the offhand otherwise.

Generally, the ball and chain variants are viewed as the hardest to slay. But the greatsword and cannon versions can hit like a truck, so they should not be taken lightly either.
3. In "Resident Evil 3", Nemesis is a recurring face and main antagonist who seeks to track down and eliminate Jill Valentine. Though the player will encounter Nemesis many, many times, at various points, he will grow in both size and change in complexion. How many times does Nemesis grow in size in this game?

Answer: Four

Nemesis showcases his mutations when fighting Jill at the top of a burning building, the courtyard of a clock tower, a waste disposal facility and, most prominently, the very testing grounds for a rail gun which Jill ultimately uses to finish him off.

The idea is that Nemesis is a man-made, living, breathing hunting machine who is bent on adapting to his surroundings and becoming stronger for doing so. He is always bigger, stronger and most notably, angrier, in his subsequent appearances.
4. In "Dark Souls 1" and its remastered version, the player can straight-up watch one boss absorb the fallen remains of another boss and instantly grow massively in size. What duo boss fight does this take place in?

Answer: Dragonslayer Ornstein/Executioner Smough

When fighting this boss, the pair will meet and engage with the player in their normal size. When one of them is killed, a cutscene will immediately interrupt the fight. In this cutscene, whichever one the player killed falls. Whichever one is still left alive will approach the fallen one, channel an unknown force of some kind, and straight up absorb their fallen ally's remains. The end result is the living one reaches full health again and becomes much, much larger.

Fans of the game have affectionately called this the "Super" phase, battling either Super Ornstein or Super Smough.
5. In "Hood: Outlaws and Legends", one enemy unit, an AI-controlled one, is much larger than playable characters or other enemies. You can tell he's close because his footsteps shake the ground around him, and he's usually heard muttering profanities of some kind. Who is this man?

Answer: Sheriff of Nottingham

The Sheriff is all business. He also does not take any sides, so both teams need to keep their eyes and ears peeled for him in this PvPvE heist game. The Sheriff is a guaranteed one-hit kill if he ever gets close to any player at all. If he gets close, he will grab whoever he gets to, throw them on the ground, then stomp on their head with his metal boot.

Though John the Brawler is a big, beefy dude, the Sheriff makes even him look small and weak, towering over every character, playable or not, in the entire game.
6. In the vast wasteland of "Conan Exiles" lies plenty of giants. Not all giants were created equal. Which giant will prove to be the strongest for Conan the Barbarian to takedown?

Answer: Frost Giants

Frost Giants are heavily armed, have lots of health and are surprisingly quite mobile. They are capable of dealing massive damage and quickly wiping the player out if they aren't careful. Statistically speaking, these giants are a major step up from the Undead versions, and are a lot stronger at that.

On PlayStation specifically, there is actually a trophy given to the player for the simple act of slaying a Frost Giant. There is no trophy for any other giant in the game.
7. In "Doom 2", the very final boss is against the Icon of Sin, who is by very, very far the largest enemy in the entire game. This enemy is so big and durable that Doom Guy can't kill it through ordinary means, and must target the boss' weak spot. Where is the only part of the body the player can deal damage to?

Answer: Brain

There is a small cavity in the monster's forehead. This cavity releases an endless horde of demons that will harass the player. It's also where the player has to shoot rockets from a launcher into to deal damage. Depending on the difficulty chosen, anywhere from eight to a maximum of sixteen rockets will be needed to prevail.
8. The very final boss of "Persona 5 Royal" is about as massive as a skyscraper, answering to the call of its master in Dr. Maruki. What is the name of this colossal monster?

Answer: Adam Kadmon

Azathoth is the PErsona or, assistant demonic monster, Maruki begins his boss fight with. When Azatoth is defeated, it then evolves into Adam Kadmon and represents the final fight of the entire game. Kadmon does not actually get defeated entirely using game mechanics, and is mostly taken down in a cinematic cutscene.

Satanael is the final variation of the protagonist's Persona, who appears earlier in the game.
9. In "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age", the antagonist of the story in Vayne Solidor fuses with the Occurian Venat to become a massive, mighty draconic monster who represents the final boss of the entire game. Vayne gains a title as he does this. What is he now referred to as?

Answer: Vayne the Undying

He is referred to as 'undying' because, in fusing with Venat, Vayne essentially acquires god-like power and could now never die of natural causes. Unfortunately for him, he dies by very un-natural causes almost immediately after the transformation, as the player is meant to strike him down as soon as the fusion occurs.

This fight is notorious for being fairly poorly balanced. If the player does the bare minimum, never does any side quests or never does any grinding, this fight is arguably overtuned. On the flip side, if the player does as many side quests as possible or does any sort of remotely serious level grinding at any point, this boss becomes a complete joke
10. In "Predecessor", one character's Ultimate Ability will immediately cause them to swell in size, towering over the competition. Whose Ultimate Ability is known as Behemoth?

Answer: Rampage

When activating Behemoth, Rampage will grow much larger and his other Abilities will be enhanced as well. He will also begin to rapidly regenerate health and gain slightly more max HP in the process. This makes Rampage out to be an incredible tank in this game.
