Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness", how does Lara Croft's former mentor, Werner Von Croy, meet his untimely demise?

Answer: He gets shot by Pieter Van Eckhardt.

After Werner Von Croy gets into an argument with Lara Croft inside his residence, they are both ambushed by an unknown person. When Lara Croft regains consciousness, she finds Von Croy dead, and she is framed for his murder.

"Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness" was the last entry in the "Tomb Raider" mainline series of games before the series was rebooted in the following decade. Lara Croft never got to clear her name after being framed for his murder since that storyline was left unresolved by the end of the game.
2. Which of these consoles was not developed by Nintendo?

Answer: Dreamcast

The Dreamcast is a Sega console. It was the final console released by Sega, before they pivoted into developing video games for their former competitors' game consoles.

The Color TV-Game is Nintendo's little-known first console, as it was only released in Japan and was overshadowed by the success of its successor, the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The GameCube is a home console released by Nintendo in 2001.

The Game Boy was Nintendo's first handheld console that utilized cartridges to play video games. Their first handheld consoles were the Game & Watch series of handheld devices, which contained only one pre-loaded game.
3. Zidane is the protagonist and main playable character in "Final Fantasy IX". What is his surname?

Answer: Tribal

Compared to previous protagonists of past "Final Fantasy" games, Zidane Tribal is more outgoing and less angsty than protagonists like Cloud Strife from "Final Fantasy VII".

"Final Fantasy IX" is Zidane's only appearance in a main series "Final Fantasy" game, although he has appeared in many spin-off titles, like "Dissidia Final Fantasy".
4. The Playstation 2 can be equipped with a camera called the 'EyeToy'.

Answer: True

The EyeToy resembles a small webcam, and can be plugged into a Playstation 2 in order to play games like "EyeToy Play" and "EyeToy Groove". These games let players insert themselves into the game by way of the camera.

Game examples include using your fists to punch ninjas who come flying towards you, or grabbing ingredients from counters in order to fulfill hamburger orders.
5. The theme park constructor simulator game, "Rollercoaster Tycoon 2", is only available for PC.

Answer: True

Although its predecessor, "RollerCoaster Tycoon", was ported to the Xbox, its sequel remained a PC exclusive.

"RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" contains recreations of theme parks that exist in the United States, like Six Flags Great America.
6. Which multinational company conceptualized and developed the Xbox in 2001?

Answer: Microsoft

Microsoft developed the Xbox as a defensive strategy to keep Sony from dominating the home entertainment market with the Playstation 2 console. At the time, they were worried that it would render PC gaming obsolete, therefore making them losing their market share.

They have been successful, with the Xbox having multiple successors, like the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
7. Which Pokemon is depicted as the mascot on the title screen of "Pokemon Ruby"?

Answer: Groudon

Kyogre is the mascot of "Pokemon Sapphire", Rayquaza is the mascot of "Pokemon Emerald", and Ho-Oh is the mascot of "Pokemon Gold".

All four Pokemon featured in this question are Legendary Pokemon, which can only be found once in their respective game, and are incredibly difficult to capture.
8. Heihachi Mishima is one of the main antagonists in the "Tekken" series of games. However, he has also appeared in the "Soulcalibur" series of fighting games. What is the sole "Soulcalibur" game that he appears in?

Answer: Soulcalibur 2

It is explained that Heihachi Mishima ended up in the "Soulcalibur" universe by finding a shard of the Soul Edge sword, an evil entity within the franchise. When he cut his finger on it by accident, he was transported into the world of "Soulcalibur"

Apart from his brief stint in the "Soulcalibur" franchise, Heihachi has been in every single "Tekken" mainline game.
9. Which of these games was released alongside the Xbox 360 on its North American launch date of November 22, 2005?

Answer: Kameo: Elements of Power

The "Call of Duty" and "Amped" franchises did release games on the Xbox 360 North American launch date, however they were "Call of Duty 2" and "Amped 3", respectively.

"Burnout Revenge" was released three months after the North American launch date of the Xbox 360.
10. In 2003, what was the best selling game console in the United States?

Answer: Playstation 2

In the two decades after the launch date of the Playstation 2 in 2001, it was never surpassed by another console in terms of units sold.

The Game Boy Advance was the highest selling handheld console in Nintendo's Game Boy series of portable devices.
