Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Emma Frost
Answer: Vanguard
Emma Frost was introduced to "Marvel Rivals" in season 2, released April 11, 2025. As a vanguard, she has a larger health bar than most and employs a shield on the battlefield. She can transform into her Diamond Form to avoid any knock back abilities, while gaining the ability to grab or kick back any character, even those not typically able to be knocked back. Because Emma Frost is a telepathic mutant, her ultimate ability, Psionic Seduction, causes all enemies in her path to stop attacking, healing or moving, and begin to walk towards Emma, being damaged continually as they do so.
2. Peni Parker
Answer: Vanguard
Peni Parker is a vanguard character who was released at launch on December 6, 2024. She possesses great health benefits, like healing herself and allies standing on her webs. These webs are far more than just healing factors; they also contain hidden nanobots (spiders) that attack and damage any enemy foolish enough to stay on the webbed surfaces.
This makes her ideal for defending points, especially against melee-style enemies.
3. Groot
Answer: Vanguard
Groot, released at launch, is a formidable vanguard who creates walls as a great barrier between allies and enemies. These walls provide additional benefits, too; some walls provide bonus health to allies, and others damage nearby enemies. His ultimate ability, Strangling Prison, locks nearby enemies into place, which can be beneficial to other allies as they use their area of effect abilities.
4. Captain America
Answer: Vanguard
Captain America was released as a character in the game's launch, season 0. While he does have some substantial attacking abilities, his most imperative use is his survivability. Not only does he have great speed, a large health bar and a shield; his ultimate ability, Freedom Charge, grants himself and all allies bonus health, movement and ultimate ability charge acceleration.
5. Bruce Banner
Answer: Vanguard
Bruce Banner himself might have low health, and limited abilities, but the majority of his play time is spend as Hero Hulk, which lands him in the vanguard category. Hulk has great size and strength, though this does not come at a cost to his speed. His Incredible Leap ability has no cooldown, so he can jump in and out of fights as he pleases.
This ability can also knock down flying enemies. Hulk even has gamma shields for himself and his nearby allies. All these abilities become increasingly menacing when he switches to Monster Hulk, who has an ultimate ability of his own, World Breaker.
6. Spider-Man
Answer: Duelist
Spider-Man may be considered one of the most difficult to master (given a rare 5-star difficulty rating), but a hero with such power should not come with ease. Spider-Man can climb, web-swing, and double jump (an ability called Thwip and Flip). He also possesses great physical strength, and when an enemy is webbed and marked with a Spider-Tracer, all his powerful melee abilities do even more damage. Pairing this great strength with his incredible maneuverability makes him a formidable opponent; if you can master the difficult techniques involved!
7. Mister Fantastic
Answer: Duelist
Upon his initial release in season 1 (January 10, 2025), many believed Mister Fantastic was better suited as a vanguard class rather than duelist. His passive ability, Elastic Strength, allows him to reach an inflated state when using abilities, granting him more than twice his typical health.
He can also use Reflexive Rubber to soak up projectiles and send them back to enemies, while being invincible during the brief period. Fortunately, his ultimate ability, Brainiac Bounce, no longer grants him full bonus health when used, which helped him fit duelist more and be less of a tank, but can still be a power player in any team.
8. Black Widow
Answer: Duelist
Black Widow was released for season 0 at the game's launch. She has limited abilities, but as she has both a rifle and baton, can be deadly in both distance and close range scenarios. Her primary damage is dealt as a sniper, using her Red Room Rifle which packs an incredible punch, especially when landing critical hits.
When enemies become too close, however, she can use Widow's Bite Baton to deal significant melee damage. Paired with Edge Dancer that stuns enemies and allows for a few quick hits, the baton can be just as useful as the rifle.
9. Namor
Answer: Duelist
If there is one thing you hear about Namor in tournaments, it's "Squids!" Namor has a Trident of Neptune that does not need reloaded, which is already a powerful ability. However, he has Aquatic Dominion, allowing him to summon Monstro Spawns (which look like squids) that do damage separately from Namor. Landing a critical hit, however, enrages the Spawn to do even more damage.
These 'squids' gain extra abilities throughout the seasons as Namor receives team-ups with other heroes. Namor's ultimate ability, Horn of Proteus, summons Giganto to disable movement and damage enemies, stunning them in place.
This creates the perfect scenario for the Monstro Spawns to pick off any surviving enemies from the attack.
10. Phoenix
Answer: Duelist
Phoenix was released July 11, 2025 as a season 3 hero. Her main attack is Cosmic Flames, which do damage and add Sparks to those hit, causing area of effect explosions with enough Sparks. Not only is this attack quite powerful, it also grants Healing Over Time to Phoenix.
She also has the ability to fly for a brief period, and teleport away leaving explosions in her wake. Her ultimate ability, Endsong Inferno, grants her full health as she crashes into enemies from above, removing shields and bonus health, dealing massive damage, and applying a Spark to all affected. Because additional explosions are created at three Sparks, this ability can create a fiery chain and devastates an enemy team.
11. Gambit
Answer: Strategist
Gambit was released for season 5 on November 14, 2025. His main move, Kinetic Cards, heal allies upon hit, and damage enemies. He throws three at a time in a fanned manner, so the closer he is the more damage or healing is dealt, as more cards are getting direct hits.
He also has abilities that use Sleight of Hand, which is gained over time. He may use Healing Hearts to heal massive amounts of health to allies and even purify them from enemy abilities, even freeing them from traps like Groot's Strangling Prison. Alternately, he can use Breaking Spades to attack and knock back enemies or create a reduced healing affect, which can even prevent full healing from other Strategist ultimate abilities.
12. Loki
Answer: Strategist
Loki is a strategist released at launch for season 0. As the God of Mischief, his ultimate ability is quite unique; it allows him to steal the ultimate ability of any other hero on either team. He gains their full abilities for a short time, and a fully charged ultimate that he may use.
As a healer, Loki can hit allies with his Mystical Missile to regain health. However, he can employ his Doppelgangers as well, which shoot at the same target as he does, meaning they can triple all damage or healing done.
Another powerful healing ability is his Regeneration Domain. These powerful fields give Healing Over Time and even convert damage into healing, which can be very imperative to survive powerful ultimate attacks.
13. Jeff the Land Shark
Answer: Strategist
Jeff the Land Shark has been a powerful strategist since season 0. He gained immediate popularity because of his cuteness (his passive ability, which lessens critical hit damage, is even called Oblivious Cuteness). His main ability, Joyful Splash, is a stream of water that heals allies and damages enemies within range, with a drop off for further distances. Jeff also plays Hide and Seek; swimming underground to self-heal and escape.
His ultimate ability, It's Jeff!, is really where he shines. He dives underground, leaving a large circle of healing behind, then swallows enemies and allies when he emerges. Allies get healed; any extra healing becomes bonus health. Enemies are damaged, and after a time, are ejected; typically off an edge if possible.
14. Adam Warlock
Answer: Strategist
Adam Warlock was a strategist introduced in season 0. His main attack, Quantum Magic, deals a lot of damage to enemies, and reduces the cooldown of Avatar Life Stream. This is integral to his healing, as Avatar Life Stream bounces between all allies nearby, and has a limited use due to the cooldown.
He also has a Soul Bond, which grants Healing Over Time and distributes damage taken evenly, which is helpful if the enemy team is trying to pick off a single hero. Because his main ability only damages and does not heal, it makes Adam Warlock a unique character to balance between attack and healing; and can be quite a bother when you've wiped the enemy team, only for Adam Warlock to regenerate himself and then revive the entire team with Karmic Revival.
15. Ultron
Answer: Strategist
Ultron was released May 30, 2025 with season 2.5. Ultron's release made him a unique healer, as he was the first strategist to have permanent flight. As a strategist, he used Imperative: Patch to throw a healing drone onto an ally. Anyone within the vicinity, including Ultron himself, gain the healing effect, with the target gaining a higher amount of healing.
He can also grant bonus health with Imperative: Firewall to all allies within range, and to himself with a burst of speed using Dynamic Flight.
His ultimate ability, Rage of Ultron, deals damage to enemies (boosted against bonus health) and massively heals allies.
