Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In order to repair the jukebox in Neely's Bar, James needs all but which of these?

Answer: Unused fuse

The first major puzzle that James must overcome involves the busted jukebox waiting, covered by a sheet, in Neely's Bar, found in Eastern South Vale, and a note on the countertop hints at what needs to be done to fix it. As it seems, a customer not only broke the record inside, but took one of the buttons, vowing to fix the machine (and never actually getting the chance to do so).

Half of the broken record is in the machine, but the other half is at Groovy Music up the street (along with some Vinyl Glue). The button is in the Saul St. Apartments; James has to reach into a gooey hole in a bathroom wall to get it. Thirdly, you'll need to make a stop at the Texan Cafe to find Neely's Bar Coin in the register.

Combining all of these at the jukebox will repair it, unlocking James' memory a little more and opening the route through the backroom and away from Eastern South Vale.
2. You need a code for a keypad to enter which establishment in Eastern South Vale?

Answer: Grand Market

The Grand Market can be found at a major intersection on Neely St., and while this isn't an essential destination for the sake of hunting down key items, the market is home to a windfall of Health Drinks and Handgun Bullets, which will come in handy once you find the Handgun in the Wood Side Apartments building.

The code to get in is alluded to on the notes found next to the parked truck on Sanders St., and with this info you'll be made aware that at least one person has tried all the numbers up to 4439. Depending on your puzzle difficulty, the number will be different, but no matter what, you'll land on the correct code somewhere between 4440 and 4450.
3. How many coins will you end up using in the Coin Cabinet found in the Wood Side Apartments?

Answer: Three

Found under a sheet in the apartment manager's office next to the Wood Side Apartment lobby, the Coin Cabinet is a unique device that appears to have five coin slots, but you'll only use three at a time. The three coins are scattered throughout the building with the Man Coin in the safe in Apartment 206, the Snake Coin in the baby carriage in the swimming pool outside, and the Woman Coin in the laundry chute (which you'll get in the Chute Courtyard all said and done).

All three coins have different designs on both the front and back, so you'll need to use these to solve a trio of puzzling, cryptic stanzas (these change based on difficulty) and finally claim your key to Apartment 201, which will lead out of the building (and into the next).

There will be a fourth poem to 'solve', so to speak, and this may influence the ending you receive at the conclusion of the game.
4. The Safe found in Apartment 206 (of Wood Side Apartments) has a combination that can be gleaned from which of these?

Answer: Drawings on the walls

Once James enters this distressing room on the apartment building's second floor (entering from a hole in a wall behind a bookshelf next door) he'll be locked inside and left to decipher the crazed writings on the walls, determining how they relate to a poem provided to him as a means of opening a safe. Fortunately, the poem is the whole clue:

"RIGHT where the ROOFTOPS pierce through the night
LEFT are homebound FOOTPRINTS with no owner in sight
But has he found home, oh, please pray tell
Or a RIVER of memories, leading RIGHT to his Hell"

These instructions lead to drawings on the wall, and numbers that are turned left and right on the safe dial to gain access to the Coin (Man) and a Steel Key, which can be used to get out of the room.
5. There are different types of moths found in Room 212 of the Blue Creek Apartments. Which is not a design found on any of them?

Answer: Diamonds

Apartment 202 is opened up when you locate the Minute Hand and properly set it into the Clock Puzzle in Apartment 212, and what you find when you walk into the room (marked with a number of Ms on the door) will be...a lot of moths. In addition to the numerous little, but harmless, moths flying around the space, you'll find a handful of large moths on display, each bearing different symbols. There's a combination lock attached to the bedroom door, and finding out how many symbols are on the relevant moths will be your key to breaking the combo. In harder puzzle difficulties you'll need to do a bit of math to get the numbers you need.

The result will be access to the Second Hand, completing the Clock Puzzle once it's laid into the device, and opening your route out of the building.
6. One of the four Radiographs James needs to solve the x-ray puzzle in Brookhaven Hospital is missing. When he finds it, he needs which item to clean and use it?

Answer: Mold Remover

The third floor of Brookhaven Hospital holds an X-Ray Room, and it contains one of the main puzzles of the building. Most of the pieces are already there-- a handful of x-rays you need to align on a lightbox on the nearby wall. One is missing, however, and this one needs a bit of searching to find. The Moldy Radiograph is in the Nurse's Station on the second floor. To read it, you need to find the Mold Remover bottle in the Cafeteria and spray it down.

Finishing the puzzle in the X-Ray Room will give you three numbers to use on the dial lock on the door to Room D1 (Right 4, Left 37, Right 12), and this will give you access to a patient bracelet for the Director's Office puzzle.
7. The safe in the Director's Office of Brookhaven Hospital is solved by assigning symbols to numbers. The key for this is found in which form?

Answer: As a series of books

Properly orienting the three missing patient bracelets from around Brookhaven Hospital on the hand statue on the Director's desk will release the Director's Storage Room Key, and this will give you the last pieces you need to approach the ornate safe in the nearby closet, hidden behind a red curtain.

The first to-do is to put the Safe Button into the missing slot. Then, you'll need to use the books on the shelf in the Storage Room, reordering them to finish the design, to get a key of numbers and symbols you can use to solve the puzzle. It's a six-digit code of symbols, and they're informed by the matching numbers, in order, on the bracelets you've collected and placed: 92 45 71.

The resultant reward will be the Rooftop Key.
8. How many nooses in the Gallows Puzzle will drop you into a dungeon instead of the Toluca Prison morgue?

Answer: Five

If you place the Execution Lever (from the scale in the prison yard) into the slot in front of the device, it'll open the Gallows Puzzle, a complex statue that bears rhyming couplets. At each difficulty, the contents of these passages will change, but your goal will always be to complete the couplets and make a choice, determining which of the six provided stories contains the culprit who should most be brought to justice.

James will need to step to the noose bearing that story's Roman numeral, and pull on it to determine if he was right or not. Getting it right would drop him in the prison morgue where he could pass through to the Labyrinth, but getting it wrong would drop him into the dungeon below the yard, where he'll find a bunch of monsters. He can, however, keep trying until he gets it right.
9. The briefcase in Lakeview Hotel can only be opened with a two-word code. To get it, you need a light bulb which gives off what colour light?

Answer: Red

Behind a bookcase in Lakeview Hotel's second floor reading room, you'll find a briefcase on a bed and a vanity with a broken lightbulb. To open the briefcase you need to get the vanity mirror working again, and to do this, you need to replace the light.

There are quite a few pieces to this puzzle since you need a bulb (found out on a statue in the locked part of the gardens) and red paint. To get the red paint, you need to locate the Can Opener (found in a book that will drop into the restaurant if you can locate it) and a can of Blood Red Paint in Room 318. Opening the paint, painting the bulb, and screwing it into the vanity will reveal your two-word code (which is different in each difficulty).

Inside the briefcase is the key to the Employee Elevator.
10. The Music Box Puzzle in Lakeview Hotel needs three figurines to function. Which fairy tale character is not used for one of these figurines?

Answer: Sleeping Beauty

There's a large box in the middle of the lobby in Lakeview Hotel, and while you get an Ornamental Key to open it early on in your visit here, you have to hunt down three fairy tale figurines to use it. You can find the Snow White Figurine in Room 201 (after the looking glass puzzle), the Cinderella Figurine in the conference room fireplace (once you get the key from the garden gazebo), and the Little Mermaid Figurine in the flooded Venus Bar (if you can find a way into the basement via the Employee Elevator.

When the figurines are slotted into the music box, you can spin the discs inside to make it play properly. It'll grant you the 3F Corridor Key.
