Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The basic foe that James encounters is what type of figure?

Answer: Lying

Lying Figures are first encountered in the early apartments of South Vale though it'll become clear quite quickly that much of Silent Hill is overrun with them, both in their normal forms, lumbering around, or as crawling foes that can hide themselves flat under cars and scurry around. Lying Figures have no arms, but they do walk on two legs, seemingly in high platform shoes, and while they can attack with physical force, they can also shoot a spray of acidic goo straight out ahead of themselves. Dodging is worth the effort.

The earliest of these foes can be beaten down with a wooden plank that James salvages from a broken window frame. It'll take a few hits to bring them down, and no guarantees that they'll stay down, but it'll do.
2. Creepers are actually which of these small creatures, easily killed with a single swat?

Answer: Beetle

Found all over Silent Hill, these foes are perhaps the only ones in the game that do not manifest themselves from James' psyche, instead being a holdover or a remnant from the effects of Silent Hill's energy as encountered in the original "Silent Hill". Appearing as beetles, Creepers are particularly notorious for picking up on your personal radio, creating static even if larger enemies aren't around. All you need to do is hit them once to smoosh them and it'll stop the noise.
3. Mannequins start appearing throughout the game once you pick up which important item?

Answer: Flashlight

Your first visit to Eastern South Vale will be full of Lying Figures and Creepers, but the Wood Side Apartments are where things will get interesting as Mannequins will start to emerge from the shadows. More combat-savvy than the Lying Figures, these creatures appear as mannequin-like beings with no faces and clunkier arms, and they'll lie in wait, waiting for James to come near to leap out. They also fight hand-to-hand a lot more dangerously, meaning you'll need to get used to dodging if you're attacking without range.

The first of these emerges to attack you as soon as you grab the Flashlight from the dress form in Apartment 202.
4. Acid Figures start appearing to James in which location?

Answer: Blue Creek Apartments

If Lying Figures weren't frustrating enough, their variants, Acid Figures, begin appearing when James crosses the threshold between the Wood Lake Apartments and the Blue Creek Apartments. The latter location is much more worse for wear, with many of its walls and furnishings being in an advanced state of decay, and some of that likely comes from the Acid Figures, who not only pack more damage in their toxic attacks, but burst when defeated, exploding in a shower of corrosive liquid that can severely harm James if he's too close.
5. Bubble Head foes wield pipes in Brookhaven Hospital. What are they armed with in the otherworld version of the building?

Answer: Knives

Bubble Head is the formal name of the 'Nurse Demon', a foe with a bit of an iconic status in the "Silent Hill" series as it pertains to James' adventure. These creatures, naturally, start coming out of the woodwork in Brookhaven Hospital since they are, after all, nurses, but their early forms, found in the upper floors of the building, come with pipes in-hand.

When James passes into the alternate reality version of Brookhaven, these same foes use knives instead, trading out range for damage. They're hardy enemies, and take more hits than Lying Figures and Mannequins, so caution is absolutely needed in disposing of them.
6. In Brookhaven Hospital, who will lock you into the chamber containing the Flesh Lip?

Answer: Laura

When James finally locates Laura in the corridor on the third floor, he'll attempt to make her feel a little less antagonistic towards him, but she'll still end up locking him into a treatment room, inadvertently trapping him with a monster hiding out in the ceiling. Known as the Flesh Lip, this boss foe starts out in the ceiling but progresses to the floor of the room, lashing out with sharp, metal appendages as it chases James around.

After enough hits, however, it'll be put down for good. It won't stop others from existing though; a second will immediately grab and pull him into the Otherworld realm.
7. The Abstract Daddy is weaker to which of these?

Answer: Melee attacks

Encountered once James finds Angela in the Labyrinth, the Abstract Daddy appears to be another manifestation, but this one may be a result of Angela's trauma. This bulky creature will charge through rooms, intending to rush James or grab him and squeeze him for damage, but kiting around it with cleverly-timed dodges should be enough of an evasive tactic to make things easy enough.

The other catch is that the boss is huge and essentially eats up ammunition, so picking your moments to strike it in the back with a pipe is the best approach, even if it's time-consuming.
8. Who, of these, do you fight to escape the Labyrinth?

Answer: Eddie

After jumping into his own grave at the end of the Labyrinth, James will find himself in a corridor that leads into a meat packing facility (which, itself, appears to be near the edge of Toluca Lake), and it's the last location at which he'll encounter Eddie Dombrowski, who he'd found in other spots around town, slowly experiencing bouts of mental degradation. This will be the last encounter, fortunately, and it couldn't come at a more distressing time because of Eddie's wavering emotional state.

The fight against him will take place in the meat locker room amongst hanging conveyor belts of beef. He'll have a gun and you'll have opportunities, between his shots, to open fire in the dark space. Enough shots and Eddie will be killed and left on the abattoir floor.
9. Mandarins are encountered repeatedly in the back half of the game. Do you ever face off against them when they are not found underfoot?

Answer: Yes

First encountered in the mysterious tunnel between Eastern and Western South Vale (visited when James is transitioning out of the Otherworld), the Mandarins are found to hang underneath gratings and mesh floorings, attacking up and through the ground when James comes close enough for them to stab through with their bladed tongues. These will continue to be pests in the Labyrinth area.

You face one of these face-to-face, at James' level, in Lakeview Hotel. As soon as you pick up the Cinderella Figurine from the fireplace in the third floor conference room, it'll bust through the wall, hanging from the ceiling, and engage in battle. They take quite a lot of hits, but fortunately, are quite easy to time dodges for.

There are more of these in the hotel, naturally, to dodge or deal with.
10. Which of these serves as the final boss of the game?

Answer: Her

When James reaches the end of his route to Mary, finding the passage in behind the manager's office of Lakeview Hotel, he'll finally climb upwards to a bright chamber that appears to contain his late wife. The truth is that it's just another version of Maria, created from his mind to depict what he's sought this whole time. He admits that it was wrong to search for her-- he killed her and she's been dead this whole time-- but Maria refuses to let him leave, instead transforming into 'Her', the final manifestation of his guilt.

If James can defeat Her, he can end his journey, and said ending will be reliant on his choices and actions throughout the game.
