Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first tomb you can encounter is a Byzantine-era war galley located in what unexpected spot?

Answer: A glacial cavern

The first de facto tomb of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" isn't even particularly hidden; Lara can find it as she passes through the somewhat linear Glacial Caves section en route to the Soviet installation being occupied by Trinity. The goal here will be to ascend the ice wall where the ship is lodged, using its different elements to clear paths and climb along a sheer drop.

At the top you can find a codex for Ancient Abilities, allowing for Lara to shoot two successive arrows without the delay of drawing from the quiver.
2. Completion of the Ancient Cistern rewards Lara with Natural Instincts, an ability that allows her to have heightened awareness of which of these?

Answer: Resources

Found underneath a rudimentary well-cover next to the sawmill in the Soviet Installation, the Ancient Cistern is an underground ruin complex that can be found in the icy tunnels deep beneath the ground. What Lara needs to do here is make her way through the chambers and tunnels here while blowing up the seals that are preventing the water level from rising. Once she's done this enough, she'll have a path upward to the final reward.

And that reward is an ancient manuscript that regards the gifts of the Earth (ie. Natural Instincts). This new, passive capability allows nearby resources (like plants and trees) to appear on Lara's map if they can be harvested. They'll also glow clearly if Lara gets close, making them very easy to catch out.
3. Found amidst the canyons near the Soviet Installation, what is the three-word name of the tomb bearing 'Inner Strength' as a reward?

Answer: Voice of God

A smaller tomb in terms of its complexity, but built as a large, cavernous religious site at the end of a long canyon, Voice of God is a single room in which all Lara needs to do is adjust and free a pair of counterweights to open and close the doors at each end of the chamber. The catch is that one of the counterweights is frozen in ice, so she'll need to maneuver around, use rope arrows, and time her efforts with the wind to properly dislodge the needed piece of the puzzle.

Opening the far door grants access to a windy, natural promontory bearing a codex that contains a series of meditations on willpower: 'Inner Strength'. It will mean that if critical injuries are sustained, Lara's health will automatically restore once per encounter.
4. The Red Mine appears to have been in operation, at one point, to harvest which of these?

Answer: Uranium

Found beneath the Copper Mill Yard in the Soviet Installation, The Red Mine, as it is come to be known, brings Lara deep into the caverns beneath the encampment to one large, central chamber filled with long-disused equipment. She'll need to make use of Rope Arrows and Molotov Cocktails not only to gain entry, but solve the puzzle of how to get to the codex here, unlocking a philosophical argument on the virtue of awareness (known as 'Bright Eyes').

In unlocking this attribute, she'll have improved Survival Instincts.

When this ability is used, traps will glow red, allowing her to dodge them a lot easier.
5. Which of these guards the entryway to the House of the Afflicted?

Answer: A wolf pack

Across from the locals' village in the Geothermal Valley, the House of the Afflicted sits behind a couple of locked gates in a cliff wall, and the only way in is to crawl through a small threshold and into a den of angry wolves. Once these are defeated, it's a pretty easy walk down into a fairly easy tomb that requires little more than proficient use of Rope Arrows to be completed.

At the end of this one, Lara gets the Fast Healer bonus, allowing her to bandage wounds quicker when necessary.
6. The reward received after completing the Catacomb of Sacred Waters is Anatomical Knowledge, and it will show you which of these in certain circumstances?

Answer: Hearts

With Anatomical Knowledge, Lara gains the uncanny ability to identify the location of animals' weak points when she's accruing resources out in the wilderness, improving her passive instincts. Striking these animals in their heart will deal massive damage, but it won't work on large animals, like bears and large cats, who happen to have thicker skins.

The Catacomb of Sacred Waters is found in a cavern just beyond the northeastern part of the native village (en route to the Catacombs and the Flooded Archives). To complete it, you'll have to use Rope Arrows to cross a rushing waterway atop a dangerous, plunging waterfall.
7. In the Baths of Kitezh, you'll need to prevent the water level from rising by leveraging which of these items?

Answer: A boat

An old bathhouse hidden behind the waterfall in the Geothermal Valley, this Tomb seems like it would be the most accessible of the bunch, but realistically can't be visited until you collect the Rebreather, only doing so by snagging one off a Trinity soldier in the Flooded Archives later on. Here, you'll need to use two winches to lower the water level in the subterranean chambers, doing so by pulling contraptions and holding them in place to leave that water drained Naturally, this will involve tethering things with Rope Arrows.

Completing this Tomb grants you a codex in the form of an instruction manual for mountaineering and provides you with Iron Grip, allowing you to climb on rock and ice surfaces significantly faster.
8. Completing the Pit of Judgement allows you to harvest which of these materials for crafting?

Answer: Chromite Ore

A hidden ravine and a massive, stillwater pool filled with wooden frameworks will be found in the Pit of Judgment, one of the later Tombs of the game, and though it may appear that you'll be able to plunk Lara into some mine carts for a thrilling ride, the circumstances are a bit more dangerous. You'll need to get the carts onto the proper tracks and send them hurtling into the frameworks to gain access to the 10th-century codex waiting at the end.

This one details the Byzantine knowledge of mining and metalwork that gives Lara the Geologist skill, in turn allowing her to mine Chromite Ore, a late-game material that can be put towards specific upgrades or outfits.
9. The Chamber of Exorcism is found in which late-stage area?

Answer: The Lost City

Found within a cave in The Lost City, the Chamber of Exorcism waits in a cavern filled with natural gas deposits, and the people that built it considered it to be a gateway to hell, leveraging the gas to their odd means. It may come as no surprise that the codex found here is the formula with which Lara can create Greek Fire, and it'll give her a damage boost to both Fire Arrows and Molotov Cocktails as a result, being capable of burning through enemy armor.
10. Each Tomb ends with the opening of a Codex, but there's one Codex in the game that is not found in a Tomb. Where is it?

Answer: The Orrery

This one last Codex is at the top of the Orrery, a location found beneath the Observatory in the Geothermal Valley once Jacob opens the route for you. Though this isn't a formal Tomb, the results are essentially the same; your problem-solving and agility are put to the test to get the Orrery moving in the right directions to grant access to the passage at the chamber's roof. The only difference is that you'll proceed onward from there.

This Codex gives over the Classically Trained ability which will increase the number of arrows that can be rapidly shot (without redrawing from Lara's quiver) to three. The previous maximum, brought on by using Skill Points, was two.
