Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Following her father's notes, Lara Croft searches for a Prophet's Tomb on the border of what nation, looking for a key to the secret of immortality?

Answer: Syria

In London, Lara listens to recordings and info from her father pertaining to one of the mysteries he was never able to solve. As he questions if the soul survives beyond death, Lara commits herself to finding the next piece in the puzzle. The catch is that not only is Lara suffering from PTSD from her adventure in Yamatai (in "Tomb Raider" (2013)), but a shadowy organization, known as Trinity, appears to be on the same hunt. Lara ignores the suggestions of Ana, her father's partner, not to follow his unwell musings-- after all, his obsession ruined him-- and she hitches a ride to the Syrian border.

Lara locates the Prophet's Tomb in Northwest Syria, navigating her way through the caves to a hidden oasis and the trapped, ancient ruins within. And inside, she'll find the resting place of the Prophet of Constantinople only to find it empty. As Trinity's men arrive, Lara will use their explosives to trigger a blast that destroys the temple and she'll get one last clue to lead her onward-- a Russian design that will have her poring over books in Croft Manor looking for the next destination.
2. Trekking through the Siberian wilderness, Lara will need to defeat which of these foes for the first time?

Answer: A bear

At Croft Manor, Lara learns that the symbol she found in Syria links to the Lost City of Kitezh, where it's believed 'The Divine Source', the key to immortality, may reside, waiting to be found. As she reveals this information to her friend and colleague, Jonah, the book will be nabbed by one of Trinity's men.

None of this stops Lara and Jonah. They head onward to a Siberian mountain range on the hunt for the lost city at the risk of life and limb, but as a storm rolls in during a treacherous ascent, Lara spies her destination. An avalanche splits the pair up and leads Lara to fight for her survival, building a fire and a camp near an old Cold War-era Soviet installation inhabited by Trinity. But that's not the only danger-- she'll have to fight a grizzly bear and head deep into a series of glacial caves to get where she needs.
3. Lara meets Jacob when the two of them are in which predicament?

Answer: Trapped in a gulag

Lara will proceed out into the Soviet installation where it will become apparent that the locals, who've staked out the premises, will be leery of her presence. Nonetheless, she'll have to head inside, destroy some communication towers, and find a way through to reach the lost city. It won't go smoothly; once she's deeper into the Trinity base she'll be captured and interrogated by Konstantin's men who, to Lara's surprise, will have kidnapped Ana as well. It'll make more sense when Ana is revealed to be working for the enemy.

Lara will be placed into a gulag cell next to Jacob, a local, who she aides in escaping as well (though he's found to be quite capable). He'll lead the way back towards the native settlement on the other side of the mountain, inevitably going ahead through the old copper mine once Lara has a chance to recover.

In the meantime, there's something to be said about Trinity's modus operandi. As Lara determines, they're all-in on the prophecy tied to the Divine Source, which claims that those who are pure of faith will be given life eternal, and all non-believers will be turned to ash. All the more reason to avoid having it fall into the wrong hands.
4. When Lara visits the Abandoned Mines beneath the Copper Mining Camp, do they cave in?

Answer: Yes

Lara will meet up with Jacob on the other side of the Mining Camp but Trinity's forces will be boring away at the mine, aiming to collapse it and cut off the path. They will succeed in closing this path off, splitting up Jacob and Lara, but Lara will be able to proceed deeper into the underground complex, a former lost city ruin, to discover she's on the right path. At the end of the route she'll locate a statue of the immortal prophet whose people left Syria and constructed Kitezh, raising an army of warriors in the process. This doesn't lead her to the Divine Source directly, but she discovers that an Atlas of Kitezh, made so that the prophet would know his city and its secrets, is possible to obtain.

Lara will emerge into the Geothermal Valley, the home of the local tribes, to find herself on the receiving end of their weapons and suspicions. Jacob will arrive just in time to prevent his people from attacking. There will be no time to waste; with Trinity closing in, they need to work together to protect the village and the nearby ruins from the mercenary forces.
5. Lara heads in and out of the Geothermal Valley throughout the bulk of the game. Which of these can not be found there?

Answer: The gulag

Lara will pass through the Geothermal Valley and the villages built there while offering her support and gaining the trust of the local natives-- after all, the village is next in Trinity's path on the hunt for the Divine Source. If she doesn't pursue the many side-challenges put before her, the first order of business will be to warn everyone with a signal fire from the sentry tower off the shoreline. She'll get an oil pouch for her arrows to aid in this.

While it will help the locals, it will also allow Trinity to swoop in with their helicopters, taking no prisoners as they infiltrate with shotguns and flamethrowers. Lara will step in to, once again, help the locals; they're the key to the Atlas.

Konstantin and Ana, meanwhile, realize that they're running out of time. In addition to the locals being a thorn in their side, Lara is making things difficult. All the while, Ana appears to be getting sicker. Konstantin vows blood.
6. The Divine Source is said to contain which of these?

Answer: A fragment of God's soul

Lara pursues the locals into the Acropolis in order to intercept and protect them from Trinity, but the mercenaries are already there, prepared to wipe out the escaping group. Fortunately, Lara arrives in time to save Sofia, Jacob's daughter, who thanks her and heads deeper into the catacombs. Lara instead splits off to the tower where Trinity is converging.

It's the right choice for the moment, but before long, the catacombs will also be under siege, and Lara will need to defend them from further invasion. Jacob will aid her with more info about that which she seeks, indicating that the Divine Source was brought to the valley and protected in Kitezh because it may have contained a fragment of God's soul. It's said to help Lara rationalize staying away, but she claims it's still her burden; her father died to find it.

Sofia says that the path ahead to the Atlas, which sends Lara into the cathedral and the Flooded Archive, will be protected by the Deathless Ones, and while they'll stop Trinity from getting the info, they will cause problems for Lara as well. They hand over a useful Wire Spool and she'll continue onward.
7. To collect the Atlas of Kitezh and escape the Flooded Archive, Lara will need to make use of which of these, apparently manufactured in the mountain temples there?

Answer: Greek fire

Lara's trip into the Flooded Archive will be fraught with danger as she finally reunites with Ana, finds herself surrounded, and plunges into the depths of the ancient structure via an improvised (and explosive) entrance. What she'll find, however, is that shortly after she claims the Atlas for herself and fights off Trinity's forces, she'll be surrounded by all the ingredients and tools needed to make Greek fire, apparently the product of choice for the civilization that resided in the archive once upon a time.

Lara will need to use this Greek fire to blow up a statue that will act as her way out of the archive, dodging the Deathless Ones to do so and reuniting not just with Jacob and Sofia at the Observatory atop the Geothermal Valley, but Jonah as well, as he was picked up by the natives while he was crossing the tundra.

The Observatory is where Lara gets her answers: Kitezh is under the glacier nearby and there's a path indicated on the Atlas that leads directly to it. Unfortunately, that's when the Trinity chopper touches down, destroys the Observatory, claims the Atlas, and takes Jonah prisoner. It means taking one more trip into the gulag in the Soviet Installation to save him.
8. Who, as it is discovered, is actually the Deathless Prophet?

Answer: Jacob

Ana and Konstantin manage to make sense of the Atlas from the Research Base atop the Soviet gulag and once they know, they start digging. Ana is suspicious of Trinity, believing that they're just using the mercenaries to get their hands on the Divine Source for themselves, but Konstantin isn't worried. Once they have it, they'll be too powerful to be stopped.

Lara will head into the weather station herself to reclaim the Atlas and she'll find Jonah being interrogated by Konstantin a bit deeper along. It'll be a bad encounter; Jonah will be stabbed in the side and left for dead while Konstantin's mercenaries will flood in under orders to leave no one alive. If Lara succeeds, she and the locals will be able to bring Jonah back to the Observatory.

There is a way to save Jonah though, since Jacob reveals that it's he who is the Deathless Prophet, having known about the Divine Source the whole time and having kept its nature secret for centuries. Jacob is human and can feel pain, but can not die, the result of the Divine Source's deep and actually non-divine power. He'll send Lara onward through a secret passage bound for Kitezh while he and Sofia will delay the mercenaries. All Lara has to do is avoid the Deathless Ones below.
9. To get into the Acropolis in Kitezh, Lara must use which of these to blast through the city gates?

Answer: Trebuchet

Lara will descend into the Path to Kitezh by first climbing and setting in motion a massive orrery, using that to grant herself passage into the corridors and battlements patrolled by the Deathless Soldiers. This treacherous route will only prove more difficult when she finally makes her way along the battlements, funnelled through waves of defensive forces of a supernatural nature.

Eventually though, she'll fall through the ice and into the Lost City of Kitezh proper, arriving just before Trinity breaks through the glacier with the Acropolis and the Chamber of Souls in her sight line. The catch is that the route is blocked by several locked gates, so she'll need to find her way around to a trio of large trebuchets that she can use to blast through the blockades and make one final climb to the Divine Source.
10. When Lara reaches the Divine Source, what does she do with it?

Answer: Destroys it

While Lara is fighting the Deathless, Trinity will finally break through the glacier above leaving her with no choice but to ascend the tower in the Acropolis, reaching the top in the midst of a battle as Konstantin and Ana arrive. At the top, Lara will need to leverage Sofia's support to take down a trio of helicopters before Konstantin arrives to bring an end to Croft, fighting in close combat once he takes her firearms (and bow) away. It'll take improvised weapons and her trusty climbing axes to bring him down. Lara can either kill him herself or let the building do the work.

With no time left, Ana will climb to the final chamber to find the Divine Source in Ana's hands. Though everyone has fallen besides her, Ana realizes she gave up everything for this item, a last-ditch shot at saving herself from her own mortality.

Jacob arrives in the midst of this conversation only to be shot several times over, but it's this distraction that Lara needs to grab the Divine Source, smash it, and destroy all of the Deathless Guard forces. Jacob, knowing this whole time that Lara would follow through, concedes happily to dying, at last.

As Lara and Ana depart across the tundra, Ana seems to be prepared to spill the beans on Trinity when she's shot from a distance by a sniper. The same shooter is told to stand down, for now, from shooting Lara. In the wake of the events in Siberia, Lara and Jonah will both vow to bring an end to Trinity once and for all.
