Side Quests in "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" Quiz

Answer: Pablo

Arriving in Kuwaq Yaku, Lara will discover, through a chain of conversations, that pillagers have arrived to force the locals to dig up relics so that they can run off and profit off them. She'll meet Marco, put into the unfortunate circumstance of relinquishing his young son, Pablo, to the pillagers, and Lara will discretely step in to solve the problem.

All of this means heading to the nearby crypt to intervene, killing the pillagers and allowing the enslaved villagers to return home unharmed. When Lara returns to Marco and Pablo at Abby's bar, she'll receive a new pistol, the River Hawk, as a reward for her trouble.

Answer: Lockpick

As soon as she arrives in the Hidden City of Paititi, Lara can meet a young boy by the name of Takiy, who will ask her to help him locate his gaming dice which, as he notes, were taken from him by a dead man. It'll turn out that the man responsible is Pisco the Dead, found in a nearby building, and he'll reason that he won those dice fair and square. The only way he'll relinquish them is if Lara speaks to five outcasts in the village to hear their stories. He will hand them over if Lara learns a few lessons based on their tales, and Lara can give them back to the boy right after.

The real treat behind this side quest is meeting the fifth and final outcast, a merchant woman who will sell Lara a handful of good items, notably the Lockpick and the Rope Ascender, both of which will allow Lara to unlock new secrets and locations. She does need to pay for them in full, so having gold on-hand will be important.

Answer: Herbs

Uchu, found in the Skull Cave in Paititi, has a lengthy series of side quests for Lara if she's willing to help, and these involve Etzli's ascension to become king. The problem he has is that three sacred items need to be collected first. The first of these, which will be Lara's responsibility from the jump, is to collect the King's Horn from Kabil, a local instrument-maker.

Kabil has his own problem: the cultists poisoned his crops and now his wife, Abra, is sick. And worse, when he sent one of his sons, Cualli, to the market to collect medicinal herbs, he went missing. Lara will need to break Cualli out of a prison cell further up in the village (with the help of some local boys) to get the herbs, help Kabil out, and get the horn to bring back to Uchu.

Answer: The cistern

By the time Lara comes back with the king's Horn, Uchu will be a bit concerned about the man he sent to collect the Savior's Amulet, the second item needed for Etzli's ascension ceremony. The problem is that it's been three days since he sent someone to collect it. Lara will, naturally, volunteer, and it'll mean she has to head to the cistern northwest of Paititi, a highly-trapped area, to hunt for Manko's remains and the necklace kept with them. It'll leave Lara to solve a series of puzzles, mostly involving raising the levels of water in the cistern to get to the top, to get what she seeks.

When Lara gets back to Uchu with the item in-hand, she'll discover that the original searcher survived his earlier visit but, obviously, came back empty-handed.

Answer: A jaguar

One of the last side quests you'll encounter, the ask to retrieve the Champion's Bow will only come after you complete your tasks at the Mission of San Juan. As it turns out, whoever Uchu sent to collect this last item would up dead, so Lara's the next best retriever.

She'll have to fight a large jaguar, the Nahual, in its lair near the sacrificial altar in the Paititi hunting grounds. If she can bring it down, she'll get the weapon, hand it off, and allow Etzli's coronation to take place in the Skull Cave.

Answer: He will be killed

Another side quest to come out of the Skull Cave, Lara will be asked to keep her new Serpentguard attire on as she navigates the lower village of Paititi, locating four captured rebels and freeing them from where the cultists have strung them up and left them to die. Lara will have no issue with this and will be rewarded at this point with a pair of greaves, but the fifth rebel, Colqui, will be missing.

Should she choose to locate Colqui at his mountain safehouse, she'll find that a worse situation is prepared for her-- an ambush brought on by the actual Serpentguard. Killing the cultists here will close out the side quest once and for all, but Colqui won't survive the encounter.

Answer: Her knife

Reaching the upper levels of the Temple of Kuklakan, Etzli will point out that Hakan has been put under guard in a nearby prison cell and he'll ask for her aid in getting him out. To do this, Lara needs to use some of the locals, first by having someone sound the horn to end prayer nearby, then by having a musician perform for a waiting crowd. This will distract the guards, and with this moment, Lara can convince two men to help her own the prison cell.

It doesn't end there though. Lara and Hakan will be locked into the cell, so Lara will have to break him out through the wall to reunite him with his daughter outside. Hakan will upgrade Lara's knife as a gift, increasing the amount of resources she can gain from slain animals.

Saving Hakan will lead to a bit of DLC extra activity if you wollow up with him in the Temple Caves in Paititi.

Answer: His wife

It's an optional side quest, but if Lara wants to play detective, she can help the local guards determine who killed Sumaq in his upper district home. The story given by locals will vary quite a bit, but there's evidence onsite, including a trail of blood leading from the servant's quarters, that will point to this being more complicated than it seems on the surface.

Lara can find a knife buried in the dirt of the yard next door, and doing this will implicate the true culprit, Shoko (Sumaq's wife). The servant will corroborate this truth. Handing the evidence over to the investigator will close out the side quest and Lara will be rewarded with new gear.

Answer: She'll die

On the island in the middle of Patiti's river, Lara can find Awil attempting to study the local murals to learn their lessons and, hopefully, become a Serpentguard like her father. Lara will help, reading the three murals and understand their messages about the duality of life and death, but when she returns to the island to inform the child, it'll appear that she's been taken tot he abandoned village nearby to be part of the Ritual of Awakening.

The truth is that the Ritual of Awakening is actually a sacrifice, and her father plans to have her drink the Nectar of Awakening to be killed in service of their god. Lara will infiltrate the ceremony, free the girl, and kill the cultists (the father included) to spare her life. When she returns to the island she'll speak to Awil and her new guardian, give some encouraging words, and receive the Eagle Archer Longbow.

Answer: A series of crosses

Guillermo, located just outside the Mission, will be looking for Isabela who, not unlike Lara, has a fascination with old, mythologized places. Isa will have gone on the hunt for a local crypt built in the days of Andres Lopez, but she'll have gone missing. What Lara needs to do is speak to a woman in the local cemetery to discover that Isa was investigating old crosses, and following these through town, Lara will find one, at a distance, acting as a switch to open a deeper tomb complex. Isa will be alive inside, but stuck with a broken ankle.

Once Isa is saved, Lara will need to talk to Manu, a blind man in the Mission, who will send her out to the Thirsty Gods tomb, but completing that will close out this series of local mysteries once and for all.
