Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Bowser's Highway Showdown, you'll fight Bowser using which of these?

Answer: Bombs

The first boss level of the game, Bowser's Highway Showdown appears at the end of World 1 and it'll take Mario along a highway of lined-up foes that'll culminate in a boss battle against Bowser, himself. Obviously it won't be the last of such battles, but for now, it's an obstacle to overcome. For this, Bowser will ride atop a cart that'll let loose large bombs. All Mario needs to do is effectively kick the bombs back, damaging Bowser, and putting an end to his ride...at least for a few more Worlds (until World-Castle).
2. The boss of World 2, Boom Boom, leads an army of which of these?

Answer: Tanks

Appearing at the end of Bowser's Bullet Bill Brigade positioned inside a rolling tank, Boom Boom returns from a long history of occupying fortresses in older "Mario" series titles, and his modus operandi doesn't change all too much this time. In addition to swinging at Mario, Boom Boom hides away in his shell and bounces around the course aiming to hit you with chaotic speed. To win in this fight, you have to do the obvious-- jump on his head a few times while it's out in the open.
3. You can tell the difference between Pom Pom and her clones by looking at which of these?

Answer: Her hair accessories

Similar to Boom Boom, Pom Pom is beaten by hopping on her head three times, and as the World 3 end-boss, you'll inevitably have to face her. The catch is that instead of punching and spinning in her shell, Pom Pom will split into multiple clones and throw a throwing star at Mario instead (all of her clones'll throw it too!). To see through the illusion, you can either look for the one Pom Pom that wears a hair accessory or the one with a throwing star of a different colour from the rest.

Pom Pom returns in World Bowser on 'The Bowser Express'.
4. The first time you face Hisstocrat will be in which World?

Answer: World 3

Hisstocrat actually appears at the very end of World 3. After Mario defeats Pom Pom in The Bullet Bill Express and saves the Blue Sprixie, he'll head into a glass tube bound for World 4 but get stuck on a small island for A Banquet with Hisstocrat. In this small level, he just needs to face off against this boss who emerges from the soil and sends his underlings to get in the way.

In this, Mario needs to (ideally) transform into Cat Mario and hop onto Hisstocrat's head from a high enough height. Fortunately, the boss provides those (temporary) platforms himself.
5. Boss Brolder can NOT be defeated by jumping on his head.

Answer: True

The final boss of World 4, found at the end of Lava Rock Lair, Boss Brolder is a massive Brolder covered in crystals, and it should be apparent from this and his size that he isn't as easy to bring down as the smaller Brolders found throughout this World. To beat him, you'll need to kite around a bit until he creates three Brolders from the soil around the arena.

Then, you'll have to throw those Brolders at him three times over the course of the match to bring him to his end. There's not a situation in which jumping on this hearty foe will make a difference...unlike the smaller Brolders.
6. Which of these is the boss of World 5?

Answer: King Ka-thunk

King Ka-thunk is a unique boss that slides himself around the inside corners of a regular Ka-thunk, flopping around the different sections of the battle arena at the end of World 5's castle. As it falls each time, you'll need to keep your eyes peeled for when it lands on its face, opening up its back to be jumped on.

As the battle goes on, however, corners of the arena will drop out, leaving a smaller plus-sized battle area to engage in.
7. Prince Bully can only be defeated if you use which of these?

Answer: Glass pipes

Found exclusively in Prince Bully Blockade, this foe appears only twice, and only ever in a small room lined with glass pipes in the walls. The aim here should be straight-forward; bully him into submission. The problem is that Bully foes typically need to fall into a pit to be destroyed.

The next best thing, as shown here, is to bully the enemy into a glass pipe to shrink him down in size, and this will make him more palatable to wear down. Three hits in this smaller form will end the fight.
8. Which of these items does the Motley Bossblob drop in battle?

Answer: Double Cherry

An intermediary level between World 6 and World Castle, you'll be forced into Motley Bossblob's Big Battle if you want to proceed to one of the later stages in the game, and what that entails is a fight against a jester-like creature whose main means of attacking is bouncing around in a giant coalesced blob form.

When these blobs split up, you'll need to hop on his head or hop on the blobs to thin their numbers out a bit. Fortunately, the boss drops a Double Cherry with each full ground pound, so you'll be able to bounce around to finish the fight.
9. In World-Bowser, Hisstocrat returns (along with Motley Bossblob) in its own new level. The new Hisstocrat will be which colour?

Answer: Pink

Both of these bosses in question return just at the worst moment, when Mario is about to reach Bowser's final level at the end of World Bowser, but you will get a choice as to whether you face one or the other (or both, really). In either case, the bosses will up their game with Motley Bossblob becoming quicker to jump and more damaging along the way and Hisstocrat, now pink, creating new hazards and layouts for his snake platforms.
10. During the boss battle at The Great Tower of Bowser Land, Mario will defeat Bowser using which of these?

Answer: POW Block

At the end of World Bowser you'll face Bowser one last time, but in this fight, you won't be pursuing his car. Instead, Bowser will take a Super Bell and transform into Meowser, ascending a dangerous tower to protect the Sprixies he stole at the top. Along the way, Mario will need to climb platforms, staircases, and glass pipes while dodging attacks, an all-the-more-difficult task when Bowser gets his hands on Double Cherries. Smashing a gigantic POW Block at the top of the tower is the only way to win.
