Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these grants Mario access to the Sprixie Kingdom?

Answer: A glass pipe

This game starts with a stroll through a night filled with fireworks as Mario and his friends stumble upon a broken glass pipe along the path. Setting to fixing it, they inadvertently make it usable by someone on the other side (while also letting loose tons of items).

Unfortunately, Bowser is also wreaking havoc from within. He captures the escaping Sprixie while Mario and company dive in, no choice but to pursue, to go on another adventure.
2. Up to how many players can adventure, cooperatively, in this game?

Answer: Four

Joining Mario for this adventure are Luigi, Peach, and (blue) Toad, all of whom can be selected before any normal level, and all of whom will appear on a shared screen when you get into the thick of the platforming experience. All four characters have their own quirks and capabilities, most of which revolve around their running and jumping abilities.

There is a fifth character, unlockable later in the game, who you can use if you happen to get far enough as well.
3. The Super Bell transforms Mario into which of these?

Answer: Cat

A new power-up for Mario and friends, the Super Bell is one of the earliest you'll find in "Super Mario World 3D" and it'll turn out to be one of the most useful. Transforming the player into a cat, this power-up not only gives you the power to attack with claws, but to jump and leap in the air, pouncing to extend your jump (and attack). Additionally, the claws come in handier than you think since they can allow a player to climb sheer vertical faces including goal poals.
4. The Double Cherry allows players to create clones of their character. Up to how many Double Cherries can be collected before clones stop being made?

Answer: Four

Another new power-up for the game, the Double Cherry is able to duplicate the character that collects it, creating an identical clone that functions in the same way as your original character, so all movements you make with the controller are done by both.

This will create at least a bit of confusion since, if you collect four of these, they'll all be moving in tandem. You'll need to account for this since slight variation between them means you could be forgetting some along the way, especially when facing enemies or jumping gaps.
5. Throughout nearly every level, Mario can collect which of these to unlock later stages of the game?

Answer: Green Stars

Making their return from the later stages of "Super Mario Galaxy 2", Green Stars are plentiful in "Super Mario 3D Land", but not so plentiful you should be leaving any behind. Most core levels feature three of these, often in tougher-to-reach spots, but Mario and the gang can also collect them from completing Mystery Houses and other non-standard stages.

The game, in total, has three hundred and eighty of these, and all of them are needed to get full completion of the game under your belt.
6. Nearly level of the game contains one of which of these, originally used by the Miiverse?

Answer: Stamp

Every major level contains a Stamp, and a number of smaller locations (like Sprixie Houses) contain a few more, and while these may have been a bit more substantial in use back when the Wii U had fuller online capabilities, they still contribute to the overall completion total for any player going hard on 100%-ing "Super Mario 3D World".

There are eighty-five total Stamps in the game, and collecting them will actualize them on a stamp page, at the very least, to show how much you've collected.
7. Can Captain Toad jump?

Answer: No

Introducing himself in some of the smaller levels of "Super Mario 3D World" is the adventure-ready Captain Toad, a self-proclaimed Treasure Tracker who will appear in courses that offer up more Green Stars than most others in the game. In these stages, you'll be able to navigate Captain Toad around a grid-divided stage that you can spin around completely, allowing you to maneuver into otherwise hidden nooks and crannies to collect all the available stars.

The catch is that while Captain Toad can interact with switches and pipes, he can not jump, so you will need to take a puzzling path in all cases to clear the objectives.
8. In his final battle against Mario, Bowser will make use of the Super Bell and which other item?

Answer: Double Cherry

The big boss battle that wraps up the first eight Worlds of the game (and saves the Sprixie Princesses) will take place at the end of World Bowser where after a short level through a dangerous set of obstacles, Mario will come face-to-face for a third time with his perennial foe. Bowser, this time, will take advantage of Mario's power-ups, claiming a Super Bell to become Meowser, then eating Double Cherries along a vertical course to make the fight more dangerous.

At the top of his tower, Mario can use a POW Block to put an end to all of the doppelgangers, save the Sprixie Princesses, and (nearly) end the adventure.
9. Which of these is NOT one of the extra Worlds that you can unlock in the game?

Answer: World Shell

After you wrap up World Bowser and close out the final boss battle of the main story, it doesn't mean the game is over. Once you collect the seven Sprixie Princesses (actually) they'll create a rocketship and allow you to proceed to World Star and the Comet Observatory. From there, you can revisit past course on World Mushroom and then rush into more trials in World Flower. Passing through these will get you to the actual final world of the game, World Crown.
10. Players can unlock which additional character upon completion of World Star-2?

Answer: Rosalina

Progress through the game's latter Worlds can be quite difficult, especially since you have to face them in sequence and overcome their more treacherous pitfalls without much aid. Super Galaxy, the second such level you'll hit, contains nods to the "Super Mario Galaxy" games on the Wii and when you finally get to the end you'll be greeted by none other than Rosalina. You don't need to do anything but finish the level and she'll become a selectable character in your roster from that point onward.
