Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Mario Clash" for the Virtual Boy was a technological feat just to even produce. Because of how the Virtual Boy worked, the entirety of the game has the same color tint hanging over every character. What color can the player never stop seeing when they play "Mario Clash"?

Answer: Red

In this game, the gimmick is that the game was in 3D, so Mario would often enter "the background" or interact with it to defeat enemies. You can also play as Luigi. Sadly, because of hardware graphical limitations, the whole entirety of the game is spent with a giant, impossible to ignore red tint that makes everything in the game seem darker and more crimson.

This is probably why it is not the most popular "Mario" game by any means.
2. "Kirby Slide" is, indeed, technically a video game. If you have an E-Reader, a Game Boy Advance and, of course, the E-Card itself, you can play this game. It is a puzzle game, asking the player to take a rearranged mess of a "Kirby" picture and arrange it to look proper. How many puzzles are there to solve in this game?

Answer: One

If the player actually goes to the tremendous effort to get this game, they will have to 'slide' pieces of a picture of Kirby around. When finished, it will be an action shot showing Kirby attempting to inhale something, with the name and iconography of "Kirby" over his body.

While this is technically a video game, given the time (2003) this was released, it is widely viewed as being moreso promotional work for the "Kirby Right Back At Ya!" anime.
3. "Luigi's Hammer Toss" is technically a video game. It is played on a Game 'n Watch, and was released in 1990. This was initially released by a corporate entity as part of its 'Happy Meals'. Who was the first business who was able to sell "Luigi's Hammer Toss"?

Answer: McDonald's

"Luigi's Hammer Toss" is an extremely simple game. You have two buttons, and you must guide Luigi towards where a hammer is falling, and prevent it from doing so. Obviously, as this game was in Happy Meals and could probably be considered 'for children', along with being released in 1990, it is not the most complex game ever by any means.
4. There is actually a "Yoshi" game in existence which basically mandates the use of a Super Scope, an extremely old piece of Nintendo hardware. Which game of the following was intended to be played with a Super Scope?

Answer: Yoshi Safari

"Yoshi Safari", like all games discussed in this quiz, was a very weird video game. The entire premise of it is Mario riding Yoshi, while the player plays as Mario and uses the Super Scope to literally shoot things. As well, there were actual manual platforming sections where the player is meant to physically jump to proceed. It was a Wii game before the Wii became a thing.
5. "Wario: Master of Disguise" was the only game to come out for the original Nintendo DS that featured Wario in a platforming context. In order to earn treasure as the gluttonous oaf is known for doing, the player will have to first pass a Mini-Game. How many Mini-Games exist in this game?

Answer: Eight

Unfortunately, none of the Mini-Games are especially challenging, and since they do command the player's attention and there are a lot of treasure chests to open, the typical pacing expected of a platformer is generally not seen in this game. This is also likely why the big brute is usually seen in "Warioware" entries, where Mini-Games are more appropriate.
6. In the "Mario Kart" realm, Mario Circuit has, unsurprisingly, been created, and recreated, remade, remastered... however you want to spin it, the face of the franchise has always had one, often multiple, racetracks in his name. On which platform did the very first Mario Circuit get reused for the very first time?

Answer: Game Boy Advance

The very first Mario Circuit, originally designed on the SNES, was basically copy/pasted into the Game Boy Advance version of "Mario Kart". Of course, this would have been one of the first tracks Nintendo ever designed, so it's unsurprisingly extremely bland and basic.
7. "Zelda's Adventure", made for the ancient CD-i, uniquely puts the player in the titular Zelda's shoes, as opposed to playing as some form of Link. Zelda's lack of skill (or the limited hardware) compared to the Hylian Hero can show, though. What is the maximum amount of weapons Zelda can wield in "Zelda's Adventure"?

Answer: Six

The game officially counts some of these as separate weapons, which does make the answer of six technically correct. However, three of these six are just spells Zelda can cast that the player must pause the game and manually swap between if they want to switch spells. For her other three options, Zelda can swing a sword, stab with a dagger or... literally throw a rock at her target. Clearly, Zelda still had some wisdom to develop at the time this game was released.
8. Rumble Falls is an auto-scrolling stage found in "Super Smash Bros." Unfortunately, it was not one of the more popular stages developed, so it would see extremely limited use. Which version of "Super Smash Bros." does this stage appear in?

Answer: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

To put it simply, Rumble Falls was a really poorly designed stage, and its absence in follow-up iterations in the franchise was not surprising. This is an auto-scroller, meaning all players must ensure to 'keep up' with the game's camera, which will be moving slowly throughout a very long, elaborate level. Platforming on Rumble Falls is genuinely miserable, as the scrolling speed increases quickly and platform availability actually becomes scarce to the point where the scrolling is by far and large more of a threat than the opponent(s) you're actually supposed to be fighting.
9. "Donkey Kong Jr. Math", a 1983 entry into the franchise, sought to teach players math and involve numbers and equations in situations that let them "defeat" a giant Donkey Kong. What is one function in math this game sought to teach?

Answer: Multiplication

Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division could be learned through this game. The idea is that four rows of random numbers and operations would be present to the player. While weaving in and out of barrels from the big man himself, the player had to climb all around a series of vines, "attack" numbers and symbols to rearrange them, and create four, correct, math statements, such as 2 + 2 = 4. Doing so would defeat Donkey Kong.
10. In the 2000s, Nintendo tried its hand with a number of different pinball games. In general, pinball games became popular, owing largely to their simplicity in terms of how developers could create them. Which Nintendo franchise ended up getting a pinball game during the 2000-2010 timespan?

Answer: Metroid

"Metroid Prime Pinball" released in 2005, for the Nintendo DS. It was essentially a non-canon mini-game, though it did feature actual 'boss fights'.
