Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The player will quickly be introduced to a very pressing objective they have to constantly meet with Mr Fry. What do they need to do every week with Mr Fry, no later than Monday?

Answer: Pay him

Jack Boyd is a wanted fugitive, disguising himself as Warren Nash. Fry knows who he really is, and is in the process of blackmailing Jack. He demands a payment of $20,000 every week in return for his silence. Failing to meet this even once results in an immediate game over for the player, as Fry presumably spills the beans to the federal government.
2. Before November ends, the player begins their first Investigation - The Secret of the Forbidden Flesh. Going in, the player has been told about the mass serial murderer known as 'The Wrestler'. A mask belonging to The Wrestler was found at the scene of the crime, where Bob Finnegan was murdered. Did The Wrestler kill Bob Finnegan?

Answer: No

As the player will quickly find, it was actually Bob Finnegan's wife, Ruth, who did the deed and attempted to frame The Wrestler for doing it. After speaking with neighbors of the Finnegans and eyeing brief local surveillance footage, the player will quickly find that Finnegan attempted to cover her tracks by cutting Finnegan's corpse up, putting it in a bag, and hiding the body at her workplace.

She was maybe not the smartest criminal in Sharpwood.
3. On November 25th, the player will be visited by a psychic offering to use her powers to aid any active Investigation they have. In return for $400, what does the player ultimately receive from her?

Answer: Nothing

This is one of many, many scams the player will be presented with. This one is thankfully pretty lowkey, as $400 is quite a small nomination in this game, and other than lose the money, nothing bad befalls the player for being tricked here. Later, however, some of these hoaxes can have deadly consequences.

There will be a group offering to become a fuel supplier for police cars, and if the player accepts this offer, they will cause several officers in the ensuing week to die in car accidents caused by faulty fuel.
4. On November 26th, the player receives their first extremely time sensitive Tactical Mission in responding to a Bomb Threat. They can begin the mission with up to six officers, and the goal is to either apprehend all criminals or defuse the bomb within a time frame. How long do they have?

Answer: Twelve turns

A "turn" is when the player uses all of their available actions. By default, each officer has two actions they can perform per turn. This could be moving around the area, attacking, picking something or someone up, or interacting with the environment in some way. If the player comes with their allowed capacity of six officers, they will typically have twelve actions per turn between them. Do note that, if the player brings an inebriated officer along, they only get one action per turn and have significantly reduced movement speed and gun accuracy.

As such, clearly, the player should ensure that they are responding to a Bomb Threat with a sober group of six.
5. Judge Hammond Trent makes himself known to the player early on. He is not very ethical. In return for one thousand dollars, what will he do for the player?

Answer: Convict innocent people

If the player chooses to indict someone for a crime, but they've chosen the wrong/innocent person, the game will tell them 'evidence is falling apart, and the case could go either way.' In conjunction with this blurb, if the player has befriended Trent, they can pay him $1,000 to just convict the person anyway.

This is key, as the player indicting someone later found to be innocent will result in related officers losing Professionalism points. Alternatively, indicting someone later to be found guilty will instead raise this Professionalism. To avoid the negative swing, the player can pay to cover their tracks.
6. Albert Sigvaldason runs the Sharpwood bathhouse. The bathhouse proves to be an extremely useful utility. What can it do for the player?

Answer: Heal police officers

When an officer responds to a call, even if entirely successful, their health will deplete by a small bit. It cannot be restored unless the player gives them a day off from work, or if they send their officer to the bathhouse during the day. A low health officer is likelier to make mistakes responding to calls, so keeping their health high is key. If health ever reaches zero, the officer will forcibly take the remainder of that day and the next day off, so the player should carefully monitor this.

The bathhouse costs $1,600 and the player can send three cops to it for each payment.
7. Before November ends, the player will receive a call that a ten-year-old is traversing Sycamore Street, going door to door with a revolver in hand. If the player sends officers to respond, what happens?

Answer: It is a False Alarm

This is one of many calls which will be a False Alarm, as it turns out it was a kid with a toy gun playing hide and seek with his friends. While discerning a real case from a fake can be quite tricky, oftentimes there will be at least one detail about the call which stands out as being quite peculiar. For example, one would plausibly ask: if someone was going door to door with a real gun trying to kill people, wouldn't at least a few of those people probably feel inclined to call the cops? Alternatively, if the gun wielder had nefarious intent and truly went door to door, they had plenty of opportunity to do something horrible, yet they didn't. Finally, where did a ten-year-old happen upon a gun they could just wander the streets with?

The player is never punished for responding to a False Alarm so, in a nutshell, one could send cops to every call just to be on the safe side. But doing this can put a strain on the roster, especially if there aren't any unoccupied officers left when plenty of real calls are rolling in.
8. The player will be introduced to their Sniper, Duvall. In this game, the Sniper takes the same role as the SWAT team did in "This is the Police". How many times per day may the player use Duvall the Sniper?

Answer: Twice

Duvall is, fortunately, the most reliable person in the entire department. He will never, ever show up to work drunk, will never fail to show up to work in general, and every action he ever takes has a scripted 100% success rate, and cannot be failed in any way.

However, Duvall can only respond to two calls per day. It counts even if the player sends him to a False Alarm, so they must be careful to use him properly.
9. The player has an opportunity to hire a janitor to clean the police department up a bit. Doing this, however, has one really weird negative consequence. What happens?

Answer: An officer resigns from their position

Specifically, Officer Mustard will tell the player that, about twenty minutes after meeting the female janitor, he just straight up proposed marriage to her and she accepted. This is the catalyst for Mustard's retirement.

By neglecting to hire the janitor, Officer Mustard will not retire. In doing this, one would hope that he'd still later go on to find love in his apparently extremely lonely life.
10. The player will obtain a VCR they can put in the police department break room to make their officers happy. One random officer will eventually inform them that this is negatively affecting officers' energy levels, and will offer to destroy the VCR. If the player allows this, what happens to that officer?

Answer: They end up dead

The culprit of this apparent murder is never found, nor does the player have the option to actually investigate it. It just happens. Perhaps someone was really, really invested in what they were watching...
