Boris was played by Alan Cumming. Boris was a computer programmer who sexually harassed his co-workers when he wasn't proclaiming his invincibility. He set the story in motion in "Goldeneye" by helping the villains steal the computer codes needed to operate the laser weapon in space. Seconds after shouting "I am invincible!" (for the last time) Boris was turned into a statue by a blast of liquid nitrogen, a result of massive explosions triggered by James Bond. Alex Trevelayan (Sean Bean), Bond's main nemesis in "Goldenye," was crushed by the satellite dish after a fight with Bond. Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), the chief henchwoman, was strangled in the tree.

Of course, as Oscar buzz increased for the film, many of the actors and crew (and the studio) make changes to themselves and the film to ensure that their nomination is set). Coincidentally, during Oscar season of the same year, Catherine O'Hara was speculated to be one of the 'Best Actress' nominees. It never happened, just like in the film.

While "Armageddon" follows a very similar plotline and was released around the same time, the asteroids hurtling towards Earth don't land in the Atlantic. Many smaller asteroids crash into major cities, even going so far as to destroy Shanghai, but Bruce Willis and his crew of oil drillers and astronauts hop on the major asteroid and split it into two before the end of the film, missing Earth by a small bit. "Deep Impact" sees a comet heading directly towards Earth and while it's blown up early on, it simply splits into two chunks, the first of which lands in the Atlantic Ocean causing a tsunami that wipes out many people and the second of which is destroyed at the last moment in space. Very explosive movie...you'd wonder why Roland Emmerich didn't direct it. Mimi Leder directed "Deep Impact" (she's also known for "Pay It Forward") and the film starred Elijah Wood, Tea Leoni, Leelee Sobieski, Robert Duvall, and Morgan Freeman. it didn't earn as much as "Armageddon" in theaters (with over $550,000,000 in revenue), but it did quite well for itself, bringing in well over $300,000,000.

At the end of the war, he returned to England and resumed his acting career. In 1959 he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Sheik Iderim in 'Ben Hur'. He is an absolute delight as the roguish Charles Bonnet, father to Nicole (Audrey Hepburn). If you've never seen this clever comedy, I urge you to rent it. Eli Wallach plays the man Audrey Hepburn ditches for Peter O'Toole (nothing against Eli, but can you blame her?) and Charles Boyer is also in the film as the director of a museum. Stanley Holloway played Audrey's dad, Alfie Doolittle, in the film version of 'My Fair Lady' and also created that role in the stage version opposite Julie Andrews, who created the role of Eliza.

Lindsay Crouse earned a nomination for "Places in the Heart" and Patrizia von Brandenstein did win an Oscar for her work in "Amadeus" in the Best Art Direction-Set Decoration category. Interesting fact; Meg Tilly was originally cast for the role of Constanze but after beginning rehearsals she injured her leg playing soccer and had to cease production, giving Berridge the opportunity to play the role.

Apples: In one of the most famous scenes of this film, Clark, a man who was being very pompous and arrogant to Chuckie in the previous scene, is seen by Will in a coffee shop. Will walks up to Clark and asks Clark if he likes apples. Clark tells Will yes. Will slams a napkin on the window with Skylar's phone number on it and says "Well I got her number. How do you like them apples?" Miss Misery: "Miss Misery" is the Academy Award nominated original song from this film.
