Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The man who made the words "I am invincible!" famous was Boris Grishenko from the James Bond film "Goldeneye." What eventually proved Boris wrong?

Answer: Frozen by liquid nitrogen

Boris was played by Alan Cumming. Boris was a computer programmer who sexually harassed his co-workers when he wasn't proclaiming his invincibility. He set the story in motion in "Goldeneye" by helping the villains steal the computer codes needed to operate the laser weapon in space. Seconds after shouting "I am invincible!" (for the last time) Boris was turned into a statue by a blast of liquid nitrogen, a result of massive explosions triggered by James Bond. Alex Trevelayan (Sean Bean), Bond's main nemesis in "Goldenye," was crushed by the satellite dish after a fight with Bond. Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), the chief henchwoman, was strangled in the tree.
2. Among indestructible characters, one of the most beloved is Wolverine from the "X-Men". His remarkable healing abilities allowed his skeleton to be bonded with what virtually indestrutible metal?

Answer: adamantium

Adamantium is an alloy that was grafted to Wolverine's bones in an extremely painful procedure. But it did render Wolverine's skeleton indestructible, and gave him razor sharp claws. Vibranium and carbonadium are other fictional alloys in the "X-Men" universe.
3. Which of these "Saturday Night Live" stars played Mustafa, the seemingly invincible henchman of Doctor Evil, in the first two "Austin Powers" films?

Answer: Will Ferrell

Will Ferrell was Mustafa. The fez and sunglasses that Ferrell wore were very similar to that worn by Nassim in the Matt Helm film "The Ambushers" (1967). Ferrell has made a number of hit films, usually playing a likable idiot ("Talladaga Nights", "Anchorman", and "Old School" for example).

His first name is John; William is his middle name. Mike Myers played both Powers and his nemesis, Doctor Evil.
4. Among invincible bad guys, Manute from "Sin City" makes the list. Despite being crucified, shot and beaten multiple times, and even losing an eye, he kept on trucking. Who played Manute in the film version of "Sin City"?

Answer: Michael Clarke Duncan

Duncan, perhaps best known as John Coffey in "The Green Mile," played Manute. He has played bad guys in several other films, mostly notably The Kingpin in "Daredevil." Duncan was a bodyguard before becoming an actor. He worked for Notorious B.I.G. among other clients, and quit security work when the rapper was assassinated. Manute, the henchman for the Roark family, finally met his end against a group of gun-wielding prostitutes.
5. Of course, one can't discuss indestructible killers without mentioning Jaws, the henchman who went after James Bond in "The Spy Who Loved Me" and "Moonraker". What are his teeth covered with?

Answer: Cobalt

Jaws' teeth were coated in cobalt, which falls between iron and nickel on the periodic table (element 27). Jaw's most remarkable use of his teeth was probably killing a great white shark in "The Spy Who Loved Me."
Richard Kiel played a very similar character named Reace in "Silver Streak" (1976). Kiel is 7 foot, 2 inches tall -- coincidentally, the same height as Jaws.
6. The "Highlander" series provided us with an invincible hero in the form of Connor McLeod. What was the alias that McLeod went by in 1985 New York in the first "Highlander" film?

Answer: Russell Nash

Conor McLeod, the hero of the "Highlander" series, was an immortal Scotsman who battled with other immortal beings using Samurai swords. Nash was the owner of an antiques store, and had quite a collection after living over 350 years. The other three are aliases that McLeod used, but in other times and other places.

While the film is set largely in New York City, several scenes (the parking garage fight, church scene) were shot in London. The villain in the first "Highlander" was The Kurgan, an almost 3000 year old Russian played by Clancy Brown.
7. When it comes to invincible killers, the lifetime achievement award has to go to Jason Voorhees, star of the "Friday the 13th" series. What stuntman/actor played the masked killer four times between 1988 and 2002?

Answer: Kane Hodder

Aside from playing Jason, Hodder also played Leatherface in the 1990 film "Texas Chainsaw Massacre III." Hodder was Jason in parts 7 through 10 ("Jason X") of the series. In 2008, he portrayed real-life serial killer Dennis Rader in "BTK."
As to the ways that Jason was allegedly killed, they included shooting, stabbing, being sliced and diced by Freddy Krueger, and blown to bits. In "Jason X," Jason was blown to pieces by an android, then reconstructed by nano-technology into Cyber-Jason.
8. Along with Jason, Michael Myers from the "Halloween" series has to be part of the Hard-to-Kill Hall of Fame. What was the name of Michael's sister, who he repeatedly tried to kill?

Answer: Laurie Strode

Jamie Lee Curtis played Laurie Strode in the original "Halloween," "Halloween II" and "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later." In the original "Halloween," Laurie was simply the babysitter. It was not revealed until later that she was Michael's long-lost sister. In the first two films, she was protected by Dr Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance), a psychiatrist who had been treating Michael.
"Halloween" was Jamie Lee Curtis' feature film debut.
The character of Laurie was finally killed in 2002's "Halloween: Resurrection." Apparently an evil cult called the Cult of Thorn was responsible for turning Myers into a psychopathic killer.
Things Michael Myers has survived: Being shot six times, a hydrogen explosion, a flaming garage, and falling down a mine shaft.
9. Chuck Norris played a cop named Dan Stevens who went after a nearly indestructible killer named John Kirby in what film?

Answer: Silent Rage

Kirby, a psychopath who murdered his family, was made invulnerable by scientists. He then went on a killing spree, including killing the scientists who resurrected him. The sheriff, played by Norris, attempted to kill Kirby in a variety of ways, with limited success.
The invincible killer in "Forced Vengeance" was Cam, played by Seiji Sakaguchui; well, invincible until a shattered window cut his throat.
Norris also played a cop in "Eye for an Eye" and "Code of Silence." Like Bruce Lee, Norris created his own style of martial arts. It's called "Chun Kuk Do."
10. What item of clothing did Odd Job, the invincible killer played by Harold Sakata in "Goldfinger", use to dispatch his victims?

Answer: Hat

Odd Job used a bowler with a brim made of sharpened steel. Odd Job's first use of the hat was on a statue, slicing its head clean off. Sakata practiced several months to get his aim perfected. His second use killed Tillie Masterson (Tania Mallet) as she attempted to escape.
The shoe was used by Random Task (played by Joe Son) in "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery." To see a necktie killer, watch the 1972 Hitchcock classic "Frenzy." Odd Job was invincible, at least until he was electrocuted while reaching for his trademark hat.
