From Quiz I Never Needed a Suitcase!

Answer: Carl Yastrzemski

That would have been a lot of hot dogs eaten in 23 loyal seasons with Boston from 1961-1983. Yaz's first of three batting titles came in 1963 while batting .326 in the season. Carl's MVP came in 1967 in a season that saw him hit for the Triple Crown. In 1968 he won the American League batting title for the third time with a meager average of .301, the lowest average to ever win a batting crown. Yaz hit 452 home runs in his career. The 18-time all-star also won seven Gold Glove Awards. He helped Boston to two World Series in losses to St. Louis and Cincinnati. Carl was a 1989 Hall inductee.

From Quiz All Washed Up?

Answer: Giants

Johnson never played with the other teams listed. Randy began his career in 1988 with the Expos for two seasons, then he played 10 with the Mariners where he won his first Cy Young in 1995. His four remaining Cy Young awards came consecutively from 1999-2002 with Arizona. The Diamondbacks traded Randy to the Yankees in 2005, then the Yankees traded him back in 2007. Johnson signed as a free agent with the Giants for the 2009 season, went 8-6, then retired. From Quiz Name That Team V

Answer: Detroit Tigers

1968 was the season, and it was the year of pitcher Denny McLain of the Tigers. Denny went 31-6 for the season. With one more great season in him for 1969, gambling issues ruined his career as he retired as a Washington Senator. The Tigers went to the World Series against Bob Gibson's St. Louis Cardinals. The Tigers won four games to three. It was the Tigers' first World Series appearance in 23 years.

21. Which American League team saw Tim Salmon, Brad Fullmer, Benji Gil, Adam Kennedy, and Troy Glaus grace their roster?

The 1919 Major League season left a bad taste and a scar in baseball history, being the season of the infamous 'Black Sox' scandal. Some White Sox players were involved with fixing the World Series against the Reds. Possibly the greatest player in history, Joe Jackson, could never show that he was as he was banned for life in 1920. The Reds won the series.

23. Which 1963 National League team rostered John Roseboro, Ken McMullen, Frank Howard, Sandy Koufax, and Don Drysdale?

From Quiz Name That Team II

Answer: Dodgers

The 1963 Los Angeles Dodgers were arguably one of the greatest teams in baseball. Under the helm of Walter Alston, the Dodgers won another World Series, this time against the Yankees. Led by left-handed great Sandy Koufax, he won his first of three Cy Young and Triple Crown awards before retiring in 1966.

24. Which 1966 team rostered Andy Etchebarren, Curt Blefary, Frank Robinson, Boog Powell, and Jim Palmer?

From Quiz Name That Team I

Answer: Orioles

Palmer was a career Baltimor Oriole. The 1966 Oriole team brought the city of Baltimore their first World Series title over the Dodgers of Los Angeles. It was also the first season that Frank Robinson played in Baltimore after coming from the Reds. In his first season with Baltimore, Robinson won the AL MVP, Triple Crown, and the World Series MVP. He had previously won the NL Rookie of the Year and the 1961 NL MVP in Cincinnati.

25. After winning numerous home run crowns, and being the king of baseball for a number of years with the Yankees, they didn't want him any longer. Babe Ruth retired with which team in 1935?

From Quiz All Used Up?

Answer: Boston Braves

From 1914-1919, the Babe was a Boston Red Sox player. Every team wanted him but he was sold to the Yankees. After the 1934 season, the Yankees felt the Babe was all used up, and let him go to the Boston Braves. Although the Babe hit only six home runs with the Braves in his final season, three were in one game. The Babe still went out with a bang.
