1. After signing with his first team, Rickey Henderson made 12 moves in his 25-season career. Which team was his first?

Answer: Oakland Athletics

Rickey played his first six seasons in Oakland, including his record-setting 130 stolen base season in 1982. He also played with the Yankees, Padres, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, Angels, Mariners, and Blue Jays. He retired in 2003 with 1406 career stolen bases after 25 seasons.
2. Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter might have made a name for himself as a New York Met, but he didn't begin his career as a Met. Who signed him to his first contract in 1974?

Answer: Montreal Expos

Gary was an Expo from 1974-1985. He was a seven-time all-star with the Expos and won two All-Star MVP awards with them. The Expos traded him to the Mets, and he played there until they released him in 1989. He also played for the Giants and Dodgers, then came back to retire with the Expos in 1992.

He was a Padre beginning in 1978 in four seasons. They didn't think much of him and traded him to the Cardinals. From there Ozzie was a 10-time all-star, 1985 NLCS MVP, and runner-up for the season MVP in 1987. Smith won 13 gold gloves in his career, and he retired in 1996. He was inducted into the hall in his first year of eligibility in 2003.

Hack signed with the Giants for the 1923 season but played in only three games. He played for two more seasons with them before the Giants weren't interested in him any longer. He signed with the Cubs in 1926, then hit 21 home runs in a Cubs uniform.

He hit another 30 in 1927, then another 31 in 1928. The Cubs were enjoying this along with his 39 shots in 1929. After the record-setting 1930 season, which no MVP Award was given out, substance issues took over his life and the Cubs let him go.

He retired in 1934 as a Phillie. The hall inducted him in 1979.

Answer: Philadelphia Athletics

Nellie was an Athletic for three seasons from 1947-1949, but was used sparingly. Philadelphia traded him to the White Sox for two-year catcher Joe Tipton. He immediately became a starter for the White Sox and replaced second baseman Cass Michaels. After 14 seasons, the White Sox traded him to the Astros in 1964 where he retired in 1965. Fox was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
6. Second baseman Jeff Kent won the National League MVP with the Giants in 2000. Which team did he begin his career with?

Answer: Toronto Blue Jays

Kent played in 65 games with the Blue Jays in 1992 before they traded him to the Mets for pitcher David Cone. In 1996, the Mets traded Jeff to the Indians for Carlos Baerga and Alvaro Espinoza. 1997 found him in a Giants uniform. The slugger retired as a Dodger in 2008 with 377 home runs.
7. Pitcher Bob Welch was the 1990 AL Cy Young winner with the Athletics. Who did he start his career with?

The Dodgers signed him in 1978, and played there until December 1987 when the Dodgers traded him in a three-team trade where he ended up in Oakland. Bob would play seven seasons with the Athletics before retiring in 1994. Welch had a 211-146 record, averaging 138 strikeouts per season over 17 seasons.
