TV By Year Trivia Questions

1. Can you name the T.V. show that aired from 1958-1966 and featured the following characters? 1- Dr. Alex Stone 2- Nurse Donna Stone 3- Their children, Mary and Jeff 4- Their adopted daughter, Trisha

From Quiz
Older T.V. Shows For Older People (Like Me)!

Answer: The Donna Reed Show

"The Donna Reed Show" was a once-popular television show during the late '50s and early '60s. It was briefly considered to call the program "Mother Knows Better", according to David Tucker. This was a reference to yet another family program that was popular at the time, "Father Knows Best". "The Donna Reed Show" was unique in that it focused on the woman of the house, as opposed to most other '50s/'60s television programs that aired family-oriented episodes which focused on the father figure. This '50s-style family, of course, had the same upper-middle class background that most other programs of that era enjoyed, but with a few differences; a woman was at the helm, and often, the children were seen "talking back" to their parents, also something quite unusual in that era on T.V. Shelley Fabares, the young lady who played the role of daughter Mary, had a hit song with "Johnny Angel" right in the middle of the program's run in 1962. The episode was entitled, "Donna's Prima Donna". This was followed 8 months later by "My Dad", a song by Paul Peterson, who was son, Jeff. "Johnny Angel" became a number-one hit, and "My Dad" peaked at number six on the charts.

2. Who portrayed the "Branded" soldier, Jason McCord from 1965-66?

From Quiz Older T.V. Shows Still Rock!

Answer: Chuck Connors

The opening intro to this short-lived television program went this way: "All but one man died...There at Bitter Creek...and they say he ran away. Branded! Marked with a coward's shame. What do you do when you're branded, will you fight for your name? He was innocent... not a charge was true... but the world would never know. Branded! Scorned as the one who ran. What do you do when you're branded, and you know you're a man? Wherever you go for the rest of your life you must prove... you're a man." "Branded" aired on NBC on Sunday nights at 8:30, during the 1965-66 season. The premise of the show was that an Army Captain, Jason McCord, had acted in a cowardly manner and was thus "drummed out" of the Army. While the charges were false, the branding remained, and for the duration of the program, he was required to prove himself as he traveled in the West.
