Elizabeth Taylor was born in London, England in 1932. She became popular as a teen actress after starring in the 1944 movie "National Velvet" and then moved on to more adult roles in the 1950s. She won Academy Awards for "BUtterfield 8" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf".

She had an affair with Richard Burton when they met on the set of the movie "Cleopatra" and married him - twice. The media gave them the nickname "Liz and Dick" and they made eleven movies together. She also married six other men throughout her life.

She was a focus for the media for her lifestyle and love life and throughout her life amassed a large collection of expensive jewellery, owning three outstanding and expensive pieces in particular - the Krupp Diamond, the Taylor-Burton Diamond and the La Peregrina Pearl.
