I think I saw some cats too - and even one non-cat. Can you match these felines from various aspects of pop culture with their respective descriptions?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The "Puddy Tat" seen in the titular quote

Answer: Sylvester

"I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat!" is a common quote by Tweety, the bird usually chased (unsuccessfully) by the scheming but usually clumsy Sylvester J. Pussycat, Sr.
Sylvester first officially appeared in 1945, voiced by the great Mel Blanc, but prototype versions of the character date back all the way to 1941. He also occasionally chases after Speedy Gonzales in the "Looney Tunes" cartoons. Two US Air Force squadrons feature the character in their official emblems.
2. Hermione Granger's pet cat

Answer: Crookshanks

Hermione Granger acquired Crookshanks at the start of her third year in Hogwarts. He plays a rather significant role in "The Prisoner of Azkaban", where he acts more intelligently than a normal cat should. This is explained by him possibly being descended from a Kneazle, a cat-like magical creature. Crookshanks also appears in smaller roles in the later "Harry Potter" books and movies, but generally acting just like a normal cat.
3. A quite lively plush tiger

Answer: Hobbes

Hobbes, owned by the eternally six-year-old Calvin from the Bill Watterson comic strip, was a stuffed tiger toy, but very much alive in Calvin's imagination. In most frames, Hobbes is depicted as an anthropomorphic, living, tiger, but when the scene shifts to a "grown-up" viewpoint, he is shown as a rather crudely sewn plush.
4. Cat owned by the Android Data

Answer: Spot

In his quest to understand humanity, the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" android Data kept a cat named Spot. Production issues have caused the cat change appearance throughout the series: in the first appearance, Spot was referred to as male and was a long-haired Somali, but later on, it was a short-haired cat and, evidenced by having a litter of kittens in the episode "Genesis", female. Spot appeared on the big screen in "Generations" and also was in a deleted scene from "Nemesis".
5. Adventuring cat companion of Chance and Shadow

Answer: Sassy

Chance, Shadow and Sassy - two dogs and a cat - are the stars of Disney's 1993 "Homeward Bound: An Incredible Journey". The film itself is a somewhat expanded remake of 1963's "The Incredible Journey". The plot is the same: After their owners temporarily moved, the three pets set out into the wilderness to find and rejoin them.
6. X-rated feline

Answer: Fritz

"Fritz the Cat" has become famous for having been the first animated movie to receive an X rating (now known as NC-17) in the United states. It contains strong drug and sexual themes. While the producers initially appealed the rating, it has ultimately contributed to the popularity and legacy of the movie.
7. The glamour cat

Answer: Grizabella

Known best as the star from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Cats", Grizabella did not actually start her fictional existence as a feline in T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" but rather as a human in his "Rhapsody on a Windy Night" which contains many of the themes in her famous song "Memory" as well as containing a near literal passage that later wound up in the "Grizabella" song:

"Half-past one,
The street lamp sputtered,
The street lamp muttered,
The street lamp said, 'Regard that woman
Who hesitates towards you in the light of the door
Which opens on her like a grin.
You see the border of her dress
Is torn and stained with sand,
And you see the corner of her eye
Twists like a crooked pin'"
8. Cute kitten always annoying Garfield

Answer: Nermal

Nermal, although only 15 months younger than Garfield himself (his first appearance was in September 1979), obviously possesses eternal youth and manages to stay the cutest kitten in the world at age 38 and counting. Garfield's regular attempts to get rid of the kitten by somehow sending him to Abu Dhabi are a recurring gag of the strip and movies.
9. Smiling cat - or a smile without a cat

Answer: The Cheshire Cat

While made famous by Lewis Carroll's 1865 "Alice in Wonderland", the Cheshire Cat actually is much older. The first literary appearances date to the late 18th century. One explanation of the term is that Cheshire cheese was allegedly at one time sold in cat-shaped pieces and eaten from the tail to the face, so it would disappear much like the literary version.
10. Not a cat - or is she?

Answer: Hello Kitty

In the wake of an August 2014 publication by Christine Yano on the character, various spokespeople of Sanrio, the company owning "Hello Kitty" spoke out about her cat-ness. Two of the quotes are:

"It is a 100-percent personified character. The design takes the motif of a cat, but there is no element of a cat in Hello Kitty's setting."

"Hello Kitty was done in the motif of a cat. It's going too far to say that Hello Kitty is not a cat. Hello Kitty is a personification of a cat."

So Hello Kitty is not a cat, but it would be going too far to say she's not a cat. Does that make her a "not a not a cat?"
