Lauren was born in 1944. Her father was in England when she was born, but she never got to meet him as he died when she was 12. She grew up in Florida and was signed up by a model agency in 1963. She has appeared on the cover of American Vogue more than 10 times.

She starred in 'Paper Lion' in 1968 and has since made appearances in over 40 films and TV appearances - including 'Falcon Crest'. She returned to a successful modelling career in the 90s.

Candice was born in 1946. Her father was Edgar Bergen a famous ventriloquist. She became a model in the 1960s, and this allowed her to indulge her interest in photography. She has proved herself a beauty with brains by writing articles for 'Playboy' and even a play.

Her film debut was in 1966 in 'The Group', and since then she has appeared in over 20 films and returned to the big screen in 2000 in 'Miss Congeniality'.

Halle was born in 1966 and was 17 when she started to win beauty contests. She was a runner up in Miss USA in 1986 and this led to a modelling career. Her big screen breakthrough was as a crack addict in 'Jungle Fever'. Success soon followed and in 2002 Halle was the first black actress to win a Best Actress Oscar.

Andie was born in 1958 and dropped out of college in 1978 to move to New York where she began modelling. She began acting in 1984 and her debut was in 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes', this was not the most successful start as her Southern accent was dubbed by Glenn Close.

Her best performance was probably in 1989 in 'sex, lies and videotape', but she has starred in over 20 films including the popular romantic comedies 'Groundhog Day' and 'Green Card'. She also made a shrewd business decision by taking a small fee to star in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', but took a cut of the profits.

The film was massively successful. In 2002 she appeared in 'Crush' and was still a successful model.

Margaux Hemingway was born in 1955 and was the grand daughter of novelist Ernest. Her statuesque blonde beauty led her to become a famous model in the early 70s and led to her film career. Her first film was in 1976 in 'Lipstick' which also starred her younger sister Mariel.

The film was not critically acclaimed, but led to changes in California rape law. She made about 10 films, and after suffering from epilepsy and eating disorders she committed suicide in 1996.

Charlize was born in South Africa in 1975. As a child she took ballet lessons and went on to dance in Johannesburg for a while. She began modelling at the age of 14, and after her father's death in 1991 she moved to Milan. Soon after she tired of modelling, but could no longer dance because of an injury, this is when she moved to LA.

Whilst in LA she was discovered in a bank and made her debut in movies in 1996 with roles in 'Children of the Corn V' and '2 Days in the Valley'.

Famke was born on 1st January 1964 in Amsterdam, Holland. She studied at Amsterdam University and can speak Dutch, English, German and French. She began modelling in Amsterdam and then moved to NY with her career, she the continued to study at Columbia University.

Her acting career began in 1992 in the film 'Fathers and Sons'. In 2002 she had made over 20 films with memorable roles in 'GoldenEye', 'Celebrity' and 'X-Men'. She was offered the lead female role in 'Terminator 3', but declined.

Twiggy was born Leslie Hornby in 1949 and although she was only 5 foot 6 inches her look made her one of the most successful of the 1960s. Her height meant that she was a photographic model, rather than catwalk. After modelling Twiggy moved onto a singing career and then onto films when she met Ken Russell.

Although her first major role was in 'The Boyfriend', before that she was an extra in Ken's film 'The Devils'. She has made over 10 films and many TV appearances.

Denise Richards was born in 1972 and began modelling at the age of 15. She had some success, but things did not work out as her height remained 5 foot 6 inches. She moved into acting with roles in TV shows such as 'Seinfeld'. Her first major starring role was in the sci-fi movie 'Starship Troopers' and she played Christmas Jones in Bond film 'The World Is Not Enough'.

In 2002 she was romantically linked with Charlie Sheen.

Brooke Shields was born in 1965 and was modelling by the time she was a year old. She has been on the cover of 'Life' magazine at least 3 times and was voted The Face of The 80s. She began acting in the mid 70s and the 2 roles that were responsible for her meteoric rise to fame were 'Pretty Baby' in 1978 and 'Blue Lagoon' in 1980.

She kept on acting and in the late 90s was the star of the TV show 'Suddenly Susan' and had made a guest appearance in 'Friends'.
