Answer: Talking parrots

 Madame Prunella's parrots are very well trained, especially Gringle, the star of the show.
Oona the acrobat is Madame Prunella's cousin, and he and Jimmy persuade her to join Mr. Galliano's rather than another circus.
2. Madame Prunella's caravan disappears during the storm. Where has it gone?

Answer: The Big Top blew away and landed on it, completely covering it up

 Everyone thinks Madame Prunella must have left the circus secretly in the night, until the children hear her parrots squawking and talking. They realise the Big Top has landed right on top of her caravan; Madame Prunella is stuck, and has no idea what has happened.
3. Among the new acts joining Mr. Galliano's circus are three clowns. Identical twins Twinkle and Pippi are friendly and full of fun, but the third new clown is gloomy and short tempered. Who is he?

Answer: Google

 Google and his dog Squib are the last of the new circus folk to arrive at the campsite that day. Squib is the only thing in the world that Google really cares for, and he hates children!

Answer: Jack and Jill Went up the Hill

 Neptune belongs to Pierre, and quickly makes friends with Jimmy. He jumps out of his tank and follows Jimmy round camp whenever he sees him. This gets Jimmy into trouble with Pierre, much to the amusement of Jeanne and Lisa, Pierre's spiteful, naughty daughters.

Answer: Mrs. Galliano must go to hospital and he goes with her

 Mrs. Galliano needs an operation, and then must go to the seaside to convalesce. Mr. Galliano will not let her go alone, so he puts Britomart in charge of his circus while he is away.
Galliano thinks this will be all right as Britomart once ran a circus of his own, but things go very wrong...

 Madame Prunella teaches Gringle the parrot to sing the rhyme, and when she gets him to do it in the ring, Britomart is incensed.
He has upset just about every person in the circus with his hard manner and harsh words, and this just makes him even harsher.

Answer: Lal and Laddo

 Lotta is heartbroken when she realises that she will have to stay behind with her parents when all her friends leave. Even Jimmy hands in his notice to leave at the end of the current run.
Lotta's despair is made worse because of the behaviour of Jeanne and Lisa.
8. Jeanne and Lisa do something very naughty and then lie about it so that Lotta gets the blame. What do they do?

Answer: Steal Britomart's magic wand

 Jeanne and Lisa are nasty, spiteful girls. They take Britomart's wand, give it to Lotta, then tell Britomart she took it.
He is very angry and forbids Lotta to go into the ring, giving her turn to Lisa and Jeanne instead.
9. What is the 'final straw' that makes Lotta run away?

Answer: Lisa and Jeanne are to ride Lotta's own pony in the ring

 Lotta is very angry and unhappy, and when Britomart says that Lisa and Jeanne are to ride Black Beauty in the ring that night, she is determined to take him away out of their reach.
10. Where does Lotta run away to?

Answer: To find Mr. Galliano and beg him to come back

 Lotta rides all day and all night, and eventually finds the seaside hotel where the Gallianos are staying while Mrs. Galliano recuperates after her operation.
She pours out the whole story of how Britomart is breaking up the circus, and Mrs. Galliano says that they must go back at once and save it.
When they arrive, the circus folk rejoice; they have been very worried about Lotta, as well as about their livelihoods.
Mr. Galliano sends Britomart, Pierre, and Google away, and the rest of the acts all decide to stay with his circus.
