Answer: camel

Camels are the perfect pack animal for warm weather traveling. They can go more than 100 miles without stopping for water while traveling across a desert.

The dromedary camel has a single hump, while the bacterian has two humps.
2. Domestication of this common pet dates back more than 9,500 years. Which animal is one of the first to have been turned into pets by humans?

Answer: cat

The common housecat was thought to date back to ancient Egypt, more than 3,500 years ago. However, in 2014, evidence of house cats dating back to ancient Cyprus in a grave thought to be more than 9,500 years old was found.

That discovery meant that domestication of cats likely first happened in the Middle East, not in Egypt like was previously thought.
3. What animal provides much of the world's milk supply and goes "moo"?

Answer: cow

Cattle are the most populous large domesticated ungulate species in the world. Cows are raised for both milk and meat production.
4. What type of animal, shown here, generally grows antlers every year?

Answer: deer

There are many different species that fall under the general name of "deer". Some of those species include, white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, moose, caribou and reindeer.

Nearly all species of deer grow new antlers each year and shed them at the end of the season.

Answer: dog

Dogs were first domesticated more than 40,000 years ago. Dogs are used for work, as pets and to assist disabled and special need humans.

Nearly all domestic dogs can trace their origins to the grey wolf.

Answer: duck

The American Poultry Association recognizes more than 70 species of ducks. While an adult duck can fly relatively fast, they often are considered easy targets by hunters. The term "sitting duck" has become synonymous with being an easy target as ducks are slow to rise into the air and take off.

Answer: kangaroo

The red kangaroo is the largest marsupial in the world, though there is a larger population of the eastern grey variety of the animal.

The animals were discovered by Sir Joseph Banks in 1770 while he was exploring an area near the Great Barrier Reef.
8. What is the term for a freshly hatched salmon?

Answer: fry

Salmon eggs are known as roe. Once they hatch they are referred to as yolk-sac fry. Once the yolk-sac is used up they are called simply fry.

Salmon are generally hatched in fresh water, they then migrate to salt water for most of their life cycle, only to return to fresh water to lay eggs again to start the cycle over.
9. Which striped animal is the largest in the feline kingdom?

Answer: tiger

Adult tigers can reach up to more than 11 feet in length and upwards of 850 pounds.

There are 10 subspecies of tiger that were recognized by scientists at the end of the 20th century.
10. Wearing its "house" on its back, what type of animal has nearly 300 species?

Answer: turtle

There are a lot of varieties of turtle: the number of species is close to 300.

There is some argument as to exactly how many, as some scientists argue that certain types of turtles should be broken into multiple classifications. One of those is the common green sea turtle. Some scientists argue that they should be split into two different species.
