Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. My name is Cain and my mother is the "mother of all living". Who is she?

Answer: Eve

My mother was the first woman! God saw that my father Adam was very lonely because all the other animals and creatures had a partner. So God formed her from one of my dad's ribs while he was asleep. My father named her "Eve" because she was the "mother of all living". Their story is found in the book of Genesis. (Genesis 2)
2. I brought laughter to my mom! My name is Isaac and I was born when my mom was 90 years old. Who is she?

Answer: Sarah

My mother is Sarah. God had promised my father Abraham and mother Sarah that they would have so many children that their family would have more members than the stars of the sky and sands of the sea. However my mother and father were both very old when God told them I would be born that year. My mother laughed because she thought it was impossible.

She was old enough to be a grandmother! God kept His promise and I was born. He told my mother and father to name me Isaac, which means "laughter". Sarah said, "God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me." (Genesis 21)
3. My name is Jacob and I'm a twin! My mother showed kindness to a stranger's camels and left everything she had to marry my father Isaac. Who is she?

Answer: Rebekah

My grandfather sent his servant to find a bride for my dad. The servant prayed for a woman to show kindness and water his camels. My mother Rebekah did just that, and the servant gave praise to God. She left her home and married my father. When Rebekah could not have children, my father prayed and God gave them twins! Esau, my brother, was very hairy. I came out grabbing his heel, so they named me Jacob, "heel-grabber". (Genesis 25)
4. My name is Joseph! My mother was very beautiful and my father worked 14 years to marry her. Who is she?

Answer: Rachel

My mother was Rachel and she was very beautiful. She met my father when he worked as a shepherd in her father's fields. He made a deal with my grandfather that he would work 7 years to marry her. On the wedding night though, my grandfather tricked him into marrying my aunt instead. My father worked 7 more years to marry my mom.

He said it was only like a few days because he loved her so much. When I was born, they named me Joseph, which means "fruitful", because God had blessed my parents so much. (Genesis 29)
5. My name is Moses! My mother Jochebed saved my life by placing me in a basket in a river, when all the other baby boys were being killed by Pharaoh.

Answer: True

When Pharaoh tried to kill all the baby boys, my mother hid me for as long as she could. When I got to be too big, she made a basket and placed me on the Nile River. The Egyptian princess found me and loved me! My sister who was watching nearby told the princess that my mom could be my nurse. God helped my mother raise me and my brother and sister. We all became great leaders of the Israelites. (Exodus 2)
6. My name is Samuel. Which of these ladies is my mother, who prayed for me and after I was born gave me to God?

Answer: Hannah

My mother Hannah was very sad when she had no children after many tries. She went up to the temple and prayed so hard the priest thought she was drunk. She told God if He gave her a son, she would give him to God's house, where he would stay and be raised all the days of his life.

The priest blessed my mother and told her God heard her request. When I was born, my mother gave me to God as she had promised. I learned the scriptures and became a great prophet. (1 Samuel 1)
7. My name is Obed. My mother was not an Israelite, but she left everything she had to live with my grandmother Naomi and serve the true God of Israel. Who is she?

Answer: Ruth

My grandmother had moved to a foreign country to escape a time when there was no food in Israel. Shortly after she got there, my grandfather and her sons both died. When my grandmother decided to go back to Israel, my mother Ruth would not leave her side.

She told her, "Your people will be my people and your God my God." She worked very hard in the fields to get food for both of them. God blessed her when she met my father Boaz and got married! My mother became the great grandmother of King David! (Book of Ruth)
8. My name is Solomon! My mother was a queen and saved my life when my brothers tried to take over the kingdom. Who is she?

Answer: Bathsheba

My mother was Queen Bathsheba. She was married to a solider who died in battle. Later King David married her. I had many wicked brothers who tried to take over the kingdom, but my mother taught me to love God like my father King David did. When my father was dying, she went to him with the prophet and reminded him of his promise to make me king. My father remembered his promise and blessed me as king of all Israel. I became the wisest king in the Bible! (1 Kings 1:1 - 2:46)
9. My name is John the Baptist! Which of these ladies is my mother, who named me John as the angel had said?

Answer: Elisabeth

My mother is Elisabeth. Before I was born an angel appeared to my father the priest and told him to name me John. My father was shocked because he and my mother were very old. Because he did not believe, the angel took away his ability to speak until I was born. People tried to convince my mom to name me after one of my close relatives, but when I was born she told them my name was John.

When they named me John, God allowed my father to speak again! It was a miracle. I became the prophet who preached to people about the coming of the Messiah. (Luke 1:5-25)
10. My name is Jesus! The Bible said my mother was a virgin when I was born. Who is she?

Answer: Mary

My mother was very young when an angel appeared unto her and told her to fear not! The angel told my mother that she would have a baby with the Spirit of God. The angel told her to name me Jesus, because I would save my people from their sins. My mother had to go through a very difficult journey with my stepfather Joseph. I was born in a stable because there was no room in the inn.

The night I was born, the angels sang "Glory to God in the highest and peace and goodwill towards men!" Not everyone knew how special my birth was, but shepherds and wise men came to celebrate my birthday.

It was the first Christmas! (Matthew 1-2, Luke 1-2)
