Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hi! My name is Abel and my father's actions made me want to obey God much better than he had. I asked my father why he ate of the tree of Good and Evil, when God had told him he could die from it. Who is my father?

Answer: Adam

My father Adam told me that he had been tricked. A clever serpent (who was really the devil in disguise), told my mother Eve that if they ate the fruit they would be like God. That lie was partly true because when they ate the fruit, they realized what good and evil was.

They ran to find a way to hide from God, but God found them. God had to kick them out of the garden and life never was as easy as it had been in the garden. However God left them a promise that one day He would fix everything.
2. Hi, my name is Shem. My father wasn't very popular when he obeyed God. I asked my father why he was building a big boat and collecting two of every kind of animal on the earth. Who is my father?

Answer: Noah

My father Noah told me that the world had become so wicked that God had decided to destroy it. He got my help of course and the help of my other two brothers. We worked hard building the ark, which was a huge boat God told us to make to save our family from the rain.

Many people laughed at us, but my father told us obeying God was more important. He begged them to help us and save themselves, but they didn't. We also gathered two of every kind of animal in the world. Anyone who was not on the boat died in the great flood.
3. My name is Joseph! My father tricked his brother out of a very important gift and had to run for his life. I asked him why he wrestled with an angel, and during their fight got a very bad limp. Who is my father?

Answer: Jacob

My father Jacob became known as a "prince" in God's eyes. However he didn't start out that way. He told me he made some bad mistakes with his brother Esau. First my father tricked his brother out of his birthright by tempting him with a bowl of beans.

Then my father and his mother found out Isaac (my grandpa) was going to bless Esau. Jacob dressed up in a goatskin while Esau was away and tricked his dad into giving him the blessing before he died. Although Jacob became the person who would get the most inheritance, he had to run for his life because Esau vowed to kill him. God took care of my father though. One night my father wrestled with an angel and would not let go until the angel blessed him.

The angel even gave my father a limp but he still held on. Finally the angel changed my father's name to Israel.

He became the father of all the Israelites!
4. My name is Gershom. My dad was in the desert when he saw a bush that was on fire but was not burning. I asked him why he went to Egypt afterwards to tell a king to set some people free. My father saw God do many terrible things to the Israelites' enemies and also led the Israelites across a sea. Who is my father?

Answer: Moses

My father was a shepherd in the desert when God spoke to him through a burning bush. He told me that God wanted him to go speak to the king and let the Israelites be free. They had cried unto God for many years because the king of Egypt made them his slaves. My dad was afraid.

He had left Egypt because he made a mistake. God told him not to worry and sent my uncle Aaron with him. God had to send many terrible bad things to Egypt because the king would not listen. Finally the king let the Israelites go but changed his mind and chased them to the sea. Just when the Israelites thought they had no escape, God told my dad to lift his rod and the Red Sea parted. My father and the Israelites walked through the sea and when they were safe, God drowned the Egyptians.
5. My name is Jonathan, and I am a prince. I asked my father the king, why he was jealous of a shepherd boy, who was also my best friend. My father tried to kill my friend, but I tried to stop it. Who is my father?

Answer: Saul

My father Saul used to be a great king. He was the first king of Israel, but he disobeyed God and God left him. He became very jealous of my best friend, who was always blessed by God and never did anything wrong. One day my father decided to kill my friend David. I asked him why, but he didn't have a good answer. So I made a deal with David that I would shoot arrows to tell him if it was safe or not. We pledged always to be friends. Sadly, that night was the last time I saw David because my father still hated him.

However, David became a great king later.
6. My name is Solomon. My father fought a very big giant when he was a young boy, and God made him king of Israel. I asked my father why he had so much courage when he fought the giant and many other battles. Who is my father?

Answer: David

My father David was just a shepherd boy when he went to see his brothers at battle. He told me that when he got there a big giant was calling the armies of Israel names and everyone was hiding. So he went to the king and agreed to fight the giant. "You're just a boy!", the king said.

However my father told him that he had killed a bear and a lion with God's help. The king wanted my father to use his armor, but it was too big. So with five stones and his trusty slingshot, my father David went to face Goliath! With God's help it only took one stone and the giant fell down dead! My father became a hero and Israel won!
7. My name is Rehoboam. My father built a temple for God that was so beautiful, people from all over the world came to see it. I also had hundreds of stepmothers. I asked my father why he asked God for wisdom to be a great ruler. Who is my father?

Answer: Solomon

My father Solomon was just a young man when he became king. His father had been a great king and leader! God told him he could ask for any one thing and He would give it to him. My father told me he knew that ruling people took a lot of wisdom, so he told God he wanted wisdom so he could be a good king. God was so pleased that my father didn't ask for anything else that he gave him things he didn't ask for! God gave my father gold and helped him build the temple of God. People came from all over the world to see it and ask my dad for advice.
8. My name is Shear-Jashub, and my name means the "remnant shall return". My father was a prophet and one time he saw God high and lifted up in the temple. I asked him why God wanted him to tell our people that they would be destroyed and taken far away from their homes if good things would happen later. Who is my father?

Answer: Isaiah

My father Isaiah was a prophet who had to tell Israel they would be destroyed. When I asked my father why God would do that, he told me Israel had been unfaithful to God. They had made idols, sacrificed children, told lies, cheated one another, and became a very unpleasant group to be around.

They also never kept God's laws or told him thank you for the many times he protected them from enemies. People laughed at my father for telling them what God had said, and my father was killed by the evil king.

However they were not laughing the day their enemies came destroyed the city. They took many people prisoner and burned the city with fire. I cried when they burned the temple, but remembered my dad told me one day a group would return someday. God promised He would build another temple that would never be destroyed and would send a Messiah to save us.
9. My name is John and I later became known as the "Baptist". Before I was born and angel appeared to my dad, who was a priest. I asked him why he couldn't speak for several months until I was born. Who is my father?

Answer: Zechariah

My father Zechariah was a priest in the temple. He told me one day an angel appeared and told him he would have a child. My father and mother wanted children because they didn't have any yet. However my father didn't believe the angel because he was really old and so was my mother.

The angel told him because he did not believe, he would not be able to speak until I was born. People were shocked when my dad came out of the temple and couldn't say a word. They were also shocked when my mom became pregnant. On the day I was born, everyone was happy! They wanted to name me after my father, but mother said no.

She told them the angel said my name was John. When my father agreed, God opened his mouth and he could speak again! I became a prophet and told everyone the good news that the Messiah was coming to save his people, Israel!
10. "A child is born!," the angels sang in the skies when my dad was working one night! I asked my father why he left his flock of sheep to go see a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Who is my father?

Answer: A shepherd

My father was in the fields when angels lit up the sky singing. He and his friends were very scared. He told me when the angels came, they told them not to be afraid. He left rejoicing because they said the Messiah had come! It was not like he expected when he and his friends got to the place the angels had sent them to.

There was baby Jesus, not wrapped in kingly robes, but in rags laying in a manger. My father and his friends bowed before the baby, with his mom and stepfather watching. My father helped welcome the Messiah to the world the first Christmas night!
