A firkin is an old imperial measure of 9 gallons. There are 8 pints in a gallon, making 72 pints in a firkin.

NB I have been informed by quizzers from Boston and Australia that schooners are used for beer in the US and Oz but this being specifically UK I hope American quiz takers can accept the answer that I have. (Apparently, some parts of the UK call beer glasses schooners, but the question is still correct, because it wants the name of the glass used for sherry, and a flute, balloon or Toby Jug is definitely not the right answer!)
