The aardvark, Orycteropus afer, is a burrowing African animal. It can be found south of the Sahara desert and all the way to South Africa. Its stable diet is termites. For this reason it has powerful claws that are used for digging into termite mounts. It then uses its long, and sticky, tongue to gather the termites. The aardvark hunts only during the night.
