Elsa Schiaparelli herself described her pink color as "life-giving, like all the light and the birds and the fish in the world put together, a color of China and Peru but not of the West."
8. Pink-colored confection of fairs and carnivals

Answer: Cotton candy

Cotton candy is an all sugar confection with the addition of food coloring or flavoring. It is a favorite confection in fairs, circuses and festivals and it is sold either on a stick or in a plastic bag. The sugar is heated and spun in a machine which turns it into "glass-like" threads, mostly filled with air and usually either pink or white in color.

It first appeared in Europe in the 19th century and it became very popular after machine-spun sugar was introduced at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri.

10. Flower that gave the color pink its name

Answer: Dianthus plumarius

Dianthus plumarius is a flower of the family of Caryophyllaceae, same family as the carnation. It is also called common pink, garden pink and wild pink and its color is a deep pink with a darker center. It blooms from May to September.

Conclusion for the color pink: Since pink is a combination of red and white it incorporates characteristics from both colors. It has the passion of red softened by the purity and innocence of white. It is also associated with femininity, romance, caring, calmness and hope, thus the expression "everything is rosy."
