Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. SPORTS: In tennis what is a score of zero called?

Answer: love

The traditional explanation for why zero means love is related to the French word l'oeuf. L'oeuf means egg in French. Like the number zero, an egg is oval-shaped.
2. HUMANITIES: What musical is the song "One" from?

Answer: A Chorus Line

"A Chorus Line" opened on Broadway on July 25, 1975 and ran for 6,137 performances before closing on April 28, 1990. At the time, it was the longest running musical on Broadway. That record, however, has been broken by other musicals.
3. RELIGION: The Bible states that there were three wise men.

Answer: False

Tradition holds that there were three wise men, but no one knows for sure. The most likely reason for this tradition is that there were reportedly three gifts given. The gifts given were gold, frankincense and myrrh. Frankincense is a type of incense and myrrh is a type of perfume.
4. BRAIN TEASER: What form of dance does 2-2 make one think of?

Answer: ballet

2-2, of course, is tutu. A tutu is a female costume used in ballet dancing. The word tutu comes from the French, and was originally called cucu, another word for buttocks. Children were mispronouncing it as tutu and the word stuck.
5. HOBBIES: Which of these is a common piece of wood used in carpentry?

Answer: 4x4

4x4 wood is actually 3 1⁄2 × 3 1⁄2 in. The 4x4 is known as the "nominal" dimensions and not the actual dimensions.
6. MUSIC: In the Christmas song "The Twelve Days of Christmas", what were the five rings made of?

Answer: gold

Each day in the song, "my true love" sent me a different gift. The gifts are as follows:
12 drummers drumming
11 pipers piping
10 lords a-leaping
9 ladies dancing
8 maids a-milking
7 swans a-swimming
6 geese a-laying
5 golden rings
4 calling birds
3 French hens
2 turtle doves
and a partridge in a pear tree

"The Twelve Days of Christmas" was first published in 1780.
7. CHILDREN: In the nursery rhyme "One, two, buckle my shoe" what happens at five, six?

Answer: pick up sticks

"One, Two, Buckle My Shoe" was published in 1805 in England. It goes like this:
"One, two buckle my shoe,
three, four shut the door,
five, six pick up sticks,
seven, eight lay them straight
nine, ten a big fat hen".
8. TELEVISION: On what show did Beverley Mitchell play Lucy Camden?

Answer: 7th Heaven

"7th Heaven" ran from 1996-2007. It was about a reverend in California and his family. Beverley Mitchell is not only an actress, she is a country singer. She was born January 22, 1981 in California.
9. PEOPLE: Octo means eight. What is the real name of "Octomom"?

Answer: Nadya Suleman

Nadya Suleman was born July 11, 1975 in California. In 2009, through in vitro fertilization (IVF) Suleman gave birth to octuplets, thereby earning the nickname "Octomom". There were six males and two females.
10. ANIMALS: What animal is said to have nine lives?

Answer: cats

In some cultures the saying is cats have seven lives. This tradition started because of how easily cats seem to escape dangerous situations.
