Answer: California

Vacaville is located north of Sacramento and northeast of San Francisco. The area was first settled by Mexican farmers in 1842 and the city was incorporated in 1892.

The city is home to several biotech research firms, as well as one of California's larger correctional facilities.
2. If I wanted to visit the town of Cow Head, what Canadian province would I need to travel to?

Answer: Newfoundland and Labrador

Cow Head is a fairly small town on the northwest coast of Newfoundland. It is known for its white sandy beaches and an annual theater festival. It also contains the Dr Henry Payne Community Museum, and has a notable lighthouse.

From Saint John's, it is roughly an eight hour drive across the entire island to get to Cow Head. Take the Trans Canada Highway to Deer Lake, then head north on Highway 430.
3. The Cow Palace, site of the 1964 Republican National Convention, is located near what major American city?

Answer: San Francisco

The Cow Palace was completed in 1941. In addition to the Goldwater convention, it has hosted numerous musical groups, including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley. It is also a major sporting venue, especially for basketball and hockey.

The building is located in Daly City, which is just on the border of San Francisco.

Cow Mountain is a recreation area owned by the Bureau of Land Management, about ten miles east of Ukiah, which is in Mendocino County. The county is named after Antonio Mendoza, an early Spanish viceroy.

Shasta county is home to Mount Shasta (14,179 feet), California's fifth highest mountain. Inyo county is home to Mount Whitney (14,550 feet), the highest point in the contiguous 48 states.

The Cow River runs only 35 miles before emptying into the Missouri. It is a key route through the Missouri Breaks, an area of the river known for its badlands. The river is part of the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.

The Yellowstone, a tributary of the Missouri, runs for 692 miles, including through the national park. The 461 mile long Bighorn River is a tributary of the Yellowstone. The Kootenai runs for 485 miles through British Columbia, Montana and Idaho.

Cow Creek also contains Cow Island. It is a fairly small island, only 1.2 miles long. However, it was important as a ford across the Missouri River and was the site of a battle with the Nez Perce tribe in 1877.

Cow Island has a military installation from 1907 called Fort Lyons. It has been converted into a center for human development programs by Rippleffect.

Cow Island is an unincorporated town located in Vermillion Parish, Louisiana. It is notable as the hometown of Cajun musician Harry Choates (1922-1951). Choates was an extremely talented fiddle player and is known as the "Godfather of Cajun Music." Unfortunately, alcoholism led to his death at age 29.

Cow Island in in southern Louisiana, not too far from Lafayette. It is about 160 miles west of New Orleans, just off US Route 90 on Louisiana 14. The area is notable for excellent Cajun food and alligators.

Answer: South Carolina

The Battle of Cowpens took place in January, 1781 near the town of Cowpens, South Carolina. It was a critical victory for the United States, and paved the way for the defeat of Cornwallis at the Battle of Yorktown later that year. The location of the battle is a National Battlefield, and is administered by the National Parks Service.

Cowpens is located in Spartanburg county, in the northwestern part of the state, near the border with North Carolina. It is fairly small town, with only around 2000 people.
10. Which of these counties in Washington State contains Cow Lake?

Answer: Adams

Cow Lake is nine miles east of the town of Ritzville in Adams county. It is in the southeastern part of the state, between Lincoln and Franklin counties, directly southwest of Spokane.

Adams county is notable as one of the most reliably Republican counties in the United States. The last time it went for a Democrat for President or Governor was in 1936. The county is largely agricultural, especially big in growing wheat.
